For the last time, this is not a reconstructionist blog

I am not a reconstructionist Heathen. This blog is not for Viking Reenactment or the SCA. On this blog, I discuss primarily how these living folkloric practices have grown and evolved over time, and how they inform MY practice. 

When I mention “pre-Christian practices”, I am referring to a mindset among those who continued practicing Pagan beliefs of their ancestors before and after the region officially began conversion - not an era of historical time. There are still entire families of people from Southern Sweden all the way to Eastern Russia who never converted. Therefore I’m treating them as “pre-Christian” when I’m discussing them. 

If you see one of my posts that doesn’t specifically discuss historical dates and sources and you feel the urge to correct me on my own practice and discussion of it then I will save you the mental labor; don’t. 

If you reblog my posts for the purpose of boosting your own ego and furthering your content without engaging in discussion, I will block you.  This may sound harsh but I spend a lot of time and energy creating content to share my practice, and frankly, as an AFAB genderqueer person I’m over being used as a stepping stone for someone else’s journey.

There are some really great folks out there.  Not just some, a LOT.  Really. If your main exposure to “community” in terms of Witchcraft/Paganism is only through the Internet, you’re probably going to have less than an optimistic view of what it’s like in physical space.  I don’t like to say “in real life” because the Internet can be amazing for fostering relationships. But there’s a disconnect that happens when people forget they’re still communicating with other human beings on the other side of their screens, which leads to some rather crappy behavior. And while the online world is an equalizer in some ways, it’s also very easy to form echo-chambers and provide amplified platforms for personalities – for better or worse.
