Shipwrecked Comedy is a 4 person production company. They spent 3 years writing, fundraising, casting, producing, doing the costuming for, starring in, and then overseeing the post production of their new series Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story.

4 of the episodes are out now and aren’t getting seen by very many people, and one of the members posted on their patron instagram that they are feeling discouraged because they worked so hard for 3 years WITHOUT PAYING THEMSELVES to get this made and it’s just not getting good traction. This isn’t sustainable for them.

I DID NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THIS KICKSTARTER TO WATCH THIS AMAZING SHOW FLOUNDER! IF THEY STOP PRODUCING ORIGINAL CONTENT I AM GOING TO BE GUTTED AND HEARTBROKEN!

The show has a diverse cast, is absolutely hilarious, and is aesthetically delightful - especially since they did the whole thing for about $200,000 - a lot of which was actually filmed in New England. **I have been corrected that while this was the original plan it ended up not working out**

Considering what a lot of TV shows pay to create a single episode of a tv show this is a shoestring budget and they essentially made a feature length film’s worth of content.

The finale is on Halloween I believe.

Fun little doodle of Chrysothemis!!

I’m in love with web series that are modern adaptations of classic novels mainly because they show us how books that have been written decades ago can still be relevant in modern times.

I remember when we were taught Macbeth in high school, almost each line of the play was followed by a 5 minute explanation, so much so that by the end of the year my textbook had no blank space whatsoever. I was convinced then that classic authors wrote stories in such complicated words just to annoy us and thus I never bothered reading any more of Shakespeare’s works in their original format again. I did however read abridged versions of Comedy of Errors and Romeo and Juliet but none of those resonated with my 13 year old self who was more than happy to stick to her amazing Harry Potter books.

However, these web series have shown me that if you get past the Early Modern English used in the books, these stories are actually worth their salt. Because of thelizziebennetdiaries I read Pride and Prejudice (something I never thought I would) and it is now one of my favourite books. emmaapproved has encouraged me to re-read Emma ( I didn’t like it that much the first time) and I’m sure I’ll have to get myself a copy of Frankenstein after vfrankmd. Finally, I’m glad I stumbled upon Nothing Much To Do by thecandlewasters because now I feel I can attempt reading an unabridged Skakespeare novel after all.
