#paint #test. There's a bunch of different things going on here so buckle up! . First I split the fruit diagonally to base it in black or white, white definitely wins there. . Next I did half the white with a grey filler primer first then did that whole side with all #alcladii white filler primer. The grey primer didn't help really, the alclad white is pretty good at covering and is wet sandable, so I'll probably go with that over a rattle can gloss. . Half the black side got an alclad gloss black, I didn't do a great job with it but it also didn't help. . Next I gave the whole thing a few coats of #ModelMasters pearl plum, it's a bit darker in person, but it's the best I could find. . The top half got model masters flip flop blue, I like how this eventually came out but might be less heavy handed with it. . Bottom half got Mr Hobby Ruby Red, it's a clear red pearlescent paint, i applied it with the wrong thinner so it didn't work as well the first time. You can see how foggy it is under the water based clear coat. I tried it again on the edge with terpentine but sprayed too much and murdered everything underneath, but it didn't happen on the black that I tried it on so maybe it's a problem with the primer. I'd rather get the appropriate thinner rather than use more terpentine. . Half the whole thing, diagonally, got Mr hobby pearl paint, same thing as the ruby red just not coloured. It made it a bit too foggy, won't use. . Last step was clear coat, half is alclad 2 #KlearKote, which I ruined by masking it off too early. Older half is Aqua Gloss which I use for my gems. I left a strip in the middle with no clear as a control. (at Vancouver Hack Space)
