#mod troubleshooting

now, it has done this since I started modding the game. But after three tries and one forced reboot, every time like clockwork, the game WOULD launch and run with a high level of stability.

not anymore. i run both Frosty and Steam as administrator. i have updated my graphics drivers i have deleted Mod Data i have deleted and fresh-installed Frosty i have verified game files i have moved Frosty to a different drive i have rolled back a few Windows updates i have given firewall exceptions for every application i can think of i have uninstalled AVG i have logged out of Razer i have tried running the game without Nvidia's overlay

nothing works to solve the crash-on-launch now. in the last couple of weeks, something changed the computer will *reluctantly* launch the game through steam, without mods, but only after two attempts. (i didn't go through all of this, buy this computer, just to play a game without mods.)

i'm at the point where i'm about to try updating my BIOS...but even that is a giant pain in the ass. i can download yet another app that manages BIOS updates through Windows, or I can manually update the BIOS by entering it on start-up. fun fact: bluetooth keyboards don't work when the computer they're connected to is powered down, lol. in order to check my BIOS version/model info, and manually update it, i have to hunt down a WIRED KEYBOARD just to enter BIOS mode during startup.

ok, open the console and type the ‘ Ciri ‘ command ( with capital C ) you may need to type it twice, it should bring ciri back from the shadow realm in your save  ( i have this issue in one save with Ciri as well)

now, have you ever used the doppler mod? i noticed that using the dopller mod sometimes (even when you haven’t saved with it enabled)  cause Ciri to become invisible in some  pre-existing saves

Specific Mod Issue: N/A

Brief Summary of Issue: Game freezing when opening the inventory, buying or selling at merchants or accessing storage.  Bug started after obtaining the Ardent Blossom.

Troubleshooting performed so far: Removed all mods and created an empty merged folder.  Game worked fine.  Removed all mods affecting the Ardent Blossom and game continued to crash on the inventory.

Word of Mod Note: This does sound like an incompatible mod, but it does seem as if you simply haven’t tracked down which one yet. Sometimes which mod could cause the problem isn’t obvious.

The Word of Mod would recommend troubleshooting your mods. Install them in small bunches (say, 5 at a time), and see which ‘bunches’ cause the game to freeze as you describe. Then, once you know which ‘bunches’ are causing the issue, you can narrow it down from there and figure out precisely which mod is causing the issue. The answer might surprise you, as sometimes seemingly innocuous mods have ended up causing the oddest of problems. Sometimes it is even COMBINATIONS of mods which cause problems, and not the mod itself.

She tried merging all her mods without mine, and that worked. Right now it seems that mine are causing the issue, rather than everything else.

Unfortunately 1.31 version of the tool doesn’t work for me. I’ve tried it several times with troubleshooting instructions from DAI Tools forums (read and re-read it many times), but it shows me the blank box where the Data tree is supposed to be (deleated the cache and the ini files and still nada). So I think I’m pretty much stuck with 1.27 for now.
