I had a copinglink for a long time, a subtle one, but I never really sat down and actively thought about it and chose it? It just came to be part of my identity over time and subconsciously it helped me deal with some Bad Shit. But every time I've tried to purposefully form a c'link it always feels like. Really fake and forced and unhelpful? Am I doing it wrong? Is there a secret to this? Am I just too used to approaching identity from a kin perspective, perhaps? I am unsure.
Hi! Mod Prohyas here. Honestly, the same thing happened to me, but not exactly.
Prohyas (me!!) is a comfort character of mine, and someone I relate to a lot. WHen I watched Mighty Magiswords, I was like, “Wow!!! This is me!! This is everything I want to be!” Sort of like my goals as a person. I questioned kin for a while, but realized I wasn’t, and that’s when I decided to make a copinglink!
I think it’s easier with characters that you already relate to in a way. I’ve considered making copinglinks of other characters, but with ones that I don’t relate to it doesn’t seem to work. Finding someone or something that you relate to an aspect of might make things easier. Even if it’s just a small thing, like the way they talk, or a common interest.
I hope this helps you out a little. Feel free to send in more asks if you need help with anything copinglink-related!
