one tiny thing that's giving me the tiniest bit of pause with giving mr. qi new portraits is that his smile and straight-faced expressions are actually flipped compared to most npcs (eg, the code for his smile is most villagers' neutral expression, and the code for his "neutral expression" is most villager's smile). this would be fine, but the fact that I'm turning him into a regular interactable villager means that any time he uses default dialogue there's a chance he'll display the wrong expression. but flipping them myself would mean editing all of his existing lines to change the portrait.
I think for now I'll leave it as-is and see if there are any issues in playtesting, since most default dialogue is stuff like, reactions to the player rummaging through garbage cans
Beggar’s Row is so cozy now

got a lot of good work done today on the simdroid mod, almost got buyable droids working (will also try to include a way to start up a simdroid shop), you can buy them from an object (a simdroid box) but will probably also include on the computer.
also started work on an optional file that will turn all ur randomly generated NPC service sims (waiters, mailcarriers, bartenders, ect) into simdroids! (just like in dbh!)
if u have any suggestions of things you’d like to see included in the redux, leme know brooooskizzz
updates on my discord server here :)
First stop on making new outfits from scratch: new hat for the winter outfit. The earflaps were killing me. I might add earmuffs, currently undecided on that. It’s still a little blurry, I’m not used to sticking to really strict shading limits, but it’s not too bad. I’m not sure what to do to the actual coat situation, but hey, I’ll work something out.
Also working on some sprite edits to try and make this whole thing a little more cohesive.
Left is Chrysanthe’s, which is what I was originally using (permission to tinker with these was gotten ages ago, I’ve just been a flake and barely touched it) right is the new version. Hair matches a bit better, and shifting that bit of hair and the glasses up makes his height feel a little more consistent and makes him look a little less like Mario from the side. Now I just have to paste the heads onto all the existing seasonal sprites, make sure I have those fixed for the bowlegs (I hate the bowlegs so much), etc.
I also really want to keep the green jacket for one seasonal outfit, just can’t quite decide which. Spring, probably. Maybe I’ll just give him the cap in the rain.

Admittedly, I’ve been finding it difficult to find the time to work on the new palette. I’m living in Kyoto right now, and between my job, language classes and a desire to see the entire city on a meagre budget (no subways or buses for me!), my time is mostly being eaten up by things other than modding. But as of now the only file left to edit is cursors.xnb, which is the bitchiest bitch of a file but ho hum. I’ll get through it, somehow.
I’m gonna be sprikling in a few new features for both palettes. Once the pp is done, expect both files to be updated on Nexus :3

I did it, y’all. First full outfit (mostly) done. Shut up I see a flub on the collar I need to fix. Twenty or so more to go, but hey! One down. I’m thinking this might be an indoor spring rain outfit.
Also got a bit more done on the winter states of buildings, so at the very least I should be able to play my farm to winter without going OH GOD WHAT’S HAPPENED.
