Vincent blamed himself for the longest time for his mother’s death, despite not being directly involved so losing Rachel would have been the greatest pain for him. One of the oaths which he bound Diederich by was to protect his wife if anything were to happen to him - though, another fear was that Dee would end up taking his wife if he himself managed to croak before him.

Rachel wasn’t aware of such before, though she was suspicious. Her parents were privy to the information before her - and they weren’t exactly ‘thrilled’ by their frail in health daughter being dragged into the dangerous underbelly of British society. Though, they refused to tell Rachel this information - this was Vincent’s own problem to resolve.

As a woman of considerable wit and a sharp tongue, Vincent knew there wouldn’t be a point in hiding such a fact from his wife. She’d find out eventually, even if he followed through on his first intentions to hide the fact. Telling Angelina as his confidant wasn’t his smartest idea. Those thoughts weighed far too heavily on Angelina who struggled to keep this secret, but it wasn’t so long until Vincent decided to tell Rachel himself.

Rachel knew fully well the dangers of continuing her relationship with Vincent. Most of this information ended up coming from Francis, the one who was left behind by both mother and brother by the position. Though it wasn’t what Francis had intended, Rachel was always aware that she might one day become an early widow.

Vincent always wanted to separate his life as far away from his noble duties as possible. Things didn’t stay that way with the Villainous Noblemen’s meetings always taking place at the manor. Rachel always greeted each and every guest, surprised to see that her own sister had joined their ranks as an informant but never questioned too much. The less she knew, the better - that was what Vincent and Rachel had decided on.

She was fully aware that their child together would become the next Watchdog after his father. That would be, “his” - not that the two weren’t aware of the capabilities of women, but that others weren’t. Neither of them could bear the thought of her becoming victim to the same fate that Claudia had. For a son however, things were simply different. Because society would see him different, they readily accepted that he would later shoulder the burden of the royalty’s wishes.

There were very few missions that Vincent would involve his wife in. Two, in fact. Rachel’s safety was of his highest concern before his duty - in both cases, he’d rather let his targets escape than put his wife in the line of danger. After those times, Rachel decided to no longer assist Vincent in his duties, all so he could just focus on the mission. Besides, “somebody needs to hold down the home while you’re away.” Little did she know that those words would mean something later. 

Depends on your definition of “active”. We’ll never be hosting another contest or digging through tags for Miracusonas and Akumasonas. Neither mod has the time now, unfortunately.
