Can I have,,,, uh,,,, 🅱️yakuya x reader but its an arranged marriage meeting
You broke out into a nervous sweat as you settled your hand on the doorknob. Behind that door was your new… spouse, you supposed.
While your family was plenty well off, even renowned across the nation, but the entire reason you were here doing something like this was simply because of your father being… hmm…
A pest, that would be a good word for it.
The Togami family didn’t marry, any conglomerate even close to their status knew that, including your own.
And yet your father had pushed, insisting that his child would make for an excellent partner.
You hesitantly exhalled. He was right there. You couldn’t let your nerves get to you- you had to make your point here and now, otherwise you’d just look pitiful.
You had marched into the small room, projecting as much confidence as you could. He was tall, intimidating and cold, as was his father, who had simply watched from behind him, but your parents were looming right behind you.
You couldn’t be the person who was pushed to try to approach the Togami family about marriage and then immediately buckle down. Your pride wouldn’t let you.
“Byakuya Togami.” You had said, trying your best not to make it come across as a question. With the lightest hesitation, you offered your hand.
He looked you up and down. “[Y/n] [L/n].” He stared at your hand, and just before your hesitation got the best of you and made you retract it, he took hold from it and gave it a firm shake.
There was nothing more to it, however. It was a hold that most would feel- purely to convey the feelings of professionalism. You understood, but couldn’t help but feel the smallest twinge of dissatisfaction at it.
“I trust that you’ve been informed of the conditions that have been put forward?”
“As he has more power in the greater scope, Byakuya Togami has every right to propose divorce at any time after the required year-long period. Regardless, things such as funds and portfolios are to be considered the property of the respective owners unless a mutual agreement is decided by both parties. In addition, [Y/n] [L/n] is expected to produce at least one potential heir to the Togami family before the period ends, unless there has been an agreement that says otherwise. Any and all affairs, romantic and sexual alike, involving unrelated third parties are to only be discussed if the marriage persists past the year-long period. Either party may distance themselves from the arrangement before the period has ended, though neither may enter another bound relationship until it has.”
You continued rattling off the long list of conditions you had been notified about time and time again, all of which had been laid bare on the small packet of papers that sat on the short oak table in the center of the room.
On the very last page was the contract itself- the document being the highest ‘celebration’ he’d allow for your marriage.
In a deafening silence, he scrawled his name down on the contract. The sound of the pen scratching against the paper seemed louder than it should have been; then again, you could practically hear your heart pounding away in your ears.
Once it was clear he had finished, you quickly signed the remaining empty space, making the union, as flimsy as it was, official.
“I suppose for now, you can call me your husband.” You glanced up at him, his expression calm and contemplative. “Though, for how long you’ll call me that…” A wicked grin graced his features. Not a fun one, either; rather, one a predator would give when toying with his prey.
“It’s something we’ll only find out with time.”
Before you could say anything, he had turned on his heel and left the room. His father looked you up and down, but he had only sighed and shook his head.
As the door shut behind the two, you let out a loud breath that you had been holding in for God knows how long.
...Did that even go well?
