He hadn’t meant to overhear. Lovino had just been walking through the house, looking for a role of duct-tape when he heard your voice drifting out of a room. “…ciano is a sweet guy,” you were saying, laughter in your voice. Lovino frowned, halting just outside the door. All of a sudden, the role of tape seemed very unimportant compared to this. He clenched his fist. Of course. He’d always known Feliciano would win you over in the end; it was the same as with everyone else. Back when you’d begun dating, you’d reassured him that you didn’t care that he wasn’t the most affectionate or pleasant guy on the block. It appeared that that had changed. Then, you spoke again, and his head whipped up. “Still, I vastly prefer Lovino. Him versus Feliciano or anyone really, it’s no contest.”

“Oh,” Lovino said lamely. He grinned sheepishly and turned away from the door, feeling much better. Of course you weren’t going to pick Feliciano over him. Still, secretly relieved, he made his way towards his office, where he could hopefully find that tape.
