Hello everyone!

I know it's been a while and a lot of people have been feeling left hanging for longer than needed and so I wanted to start this announcement with an apology on that behalf for taking so long to give updates.

I know it's disappointing to get our hopes up and I have not been looking forward to writing this post but I feel at this point it's better to do it sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately it looks like the Nightbound continuation project will be shelved indefinitely. Making a fan-made project of this magnitude requires a ton of resources and skills all to be done in our free time without any financial gain. I know there are still a lot of fans who would love to see this continue and I still haven't 100% given up hope that it may continue someday but unfortunately compared to a lot of other Choices stories the Nightbound fanbase is quite small and the Choices fandom in general seems to be getting smaller.

Our production team right now is also quite small and the number of active members still left have been preoccupied with other things and over the last few months (myself included) have not been actively progressing much with the project.

I myself have been struggling with mental health issues and regrettably have not been taking the initiative that I should to be the best person for this kind of leadership at the moment.

Unfortunately due to mental health issues I likely won't be active on this Tumblr so it may be a long time before I respond to messages.

In addition to the planned sequel there was also a plan for a Nightbound: Origins prequel stories app and it's possible we could at least make that one happen but that would still require a ton of sprite editing with the characters introduced in that one.

That all being said... a lot of progress did get made already and there were still ideas that I would love to see executed at some point in time and because of that this is not an official cancellation of the project but only an indefinite shelving. (I mean it took more than 3 decades for a Beetlejuice sequel to happen and even longer for a Mary Poppins sequel so you never know.)

Never say never. At some point when the time is right when we're feeling better perhaps we may be able to continue. If that were to happen though it would take some time since as mentioned before I won't be active on here for a while and we would need to get a lot more active volunteers (writers, sprite artists, programmers, etc) and find a new strategy for implementing such a dream.

This may have been a pipedream project but I appreciate all of you (speaking on behalf of myself and the other team members who have contributed) and wish all of us and all of you success in all other works and goals for the future.

Hello everyone!

I know there have been a lot of people asking about the status of the Nightbound continuation project and wondering if we would have any updates soon.

I can't say too much right now but as it stands now we unfortunately have a pretty small group right now working on the game who are also spread thin with other activities and responsibilities. Even with lots of resources and skills making a fan fiction game is hard work for absolutely no pay and so it can make it difficult for us not to also have other priorities since our motivation is that of a hobby project solely for the passion of making art in our free time.

All that being said that while we hope to have Nightbound: Origins released by the end of the year, as far as the production goes for Nightbound II: Return to Lamrian, the soonest start release at the rate we are going would likely not be until 2029 or so. This sort of game takes a lot of work with all the branching and coding and writing as well as art and we are pretty short staffed. In particular we need more volunteers for programming and for sprite editing especially those who can do fae-ears editing and shirtless/underwear editing.
