You can really see his disappointment with klaus (only caring bout his 20 $) after the hospital scene where he's got this 'oh my god' moment before shouting "you're all useless!"

I just imagine little five told himself over and over again that his family did everything to try and prevent this. And they failed.

It just makes it SO funny to see his incredulous expression as he realizes they're all a disorganized MESS. and would rather do ANYTHING else than save the world.

Then somehow, (I’m thinking via briefcase malfunction) he ends up in 2019. Again. No memory of his siblings, only his memory of working in the temp commission.

he spends the whole of s1 trying to get BACK to the commission, meanwhile the commission assumes he’s defected (although their unsure whether he’s recovered his memory).

Fives ALSO aware that he has to get back before the apocalypse happens but doesn’t know what causes it because the commission doesn’t trust him with that info.

Five still ends up in the court yard, and the siblings still all witness it. In this I think fives around 30, maybe a little younger.

Five sees them see him and is like, “shit. I’ve totally fucked up the timeline.” he initially tries to blend in with the time period (maybe even explain away the weird portal they see him come out of) but then they insist they know him and fives like, “ok these guys r weird. Also how do u know my name?”

I don’t think he tries to teleport away bc he knows obvi that people don’t just. Have Powers like that. until he realizes all the hargreeves have powers and then he uses his powers around them.

He, of course has a tracker still so the commission finds him. Which he’s incredibly relieved about until. They open fire on him. (Via standard beurocratic incompetence they assume hes defected, the agents don’t ask questions. It’s a threat to the apocalypse.)

BECAUSE. Five hargreeves who was sympathetic to his dad in s2, who’s HAPPIEST memories are from when he was with his siblings living under Reginald, who spent everyday for the last 45 years of his life thinking about how if he’d just listened to Reginald he wouldn’t have EVER ended up in the apocalypse!

To THAT five hargreeves, a world where his family’s alive at the low low cost of living under Reginald is the closest thing to a happy ending he can fathom.

But it’s NOT a happy ending for the rest of the siblings (excluding Alison who gets her family back).

Cue Luther, Diego, Klaus, and Viktor (+ sparrow!Ben) trying to fix the universe while actively working around and AGAINST Five.

A five who is indirectly aligned with Reginald because at least in this universe they’re SAFE.

And in the end they have to convince Five that freedom from Reginald is worth risking another apocalypse. And that whatever comes they’ll face it as a family.
