Mob!Bucky x Reader
Hi anon, thank you so much! I hope you enjoy this soft little drabble and itâs what you were looking for. Thank you for reading and for requesting! đ
Warnings: None, just soft, sweet mobster!Bucky being a huge flirt.
âMorninâ sweetheart.â The low, soft drawl of Bucky Barnes graced your ears and you turned around from wiping down a table to face the New York mobster. You opened your mouth to say good morning but you always got a little flustered around him. âMorning Mr Barnes.â You managed to get out, giving him a sweet smile. He rewarded you with a lopsided grin as he reached up to adjust the bun in his hair.
âHow many times do I have tâa tell you to call me Bucky?â He asked, a deep chuckle rumbling through his chest and the way his eyes creased with amusement, cheeks gaining a slightly rosy tint completely melted you and you could barely string together a sentence to respond. âSorry Bucky, you- I just get nervous.â You blurted out, immediately snapping your mouth shut and squeezing your eyes closed, internally scolding yourself for being so awkward.
âLook at me, darlinâ.â Buckyâs voice softened and you reluctantly opened your eyes to peer up at him. âWhat is it that makes ya nervous? Is it because Iâm-.â Bucky cut himself off. He felt so stupid, of course you were a blubbering mess. It was that time again where every month heâd go around with his boys collecting what heâs owed from the stores he owns and heâd been stupid enough to come by your store on the way back with all of his henchmen loitering outside the front window.
âDoll, you know our arrangement, I promise I just came by to see my favourite baker, no ulterior motive.â He held his hands up in surrender, trying to look as small as possible so youâd perhaps feel a little less intimidated by his presence. Finally, you relaxed enough to meet his gaze properly and Bucky let out a little sigh of relief that you no longer seemed so tense.
âIâm your favourite baker?â You asked quietly, feeling yourself getting a little warm at the admission. âWould there be another reason for our arrangement, doll?â Bucky asked, smiling smugly. âI- well I guess not.â You shook your head. âBut the bakery isnât doing too great and I really-.â Bucky raised his hand to stop you and your words died in your mouth.
âDarlinâ, donât you ever worry about that. I promised you Iâd never collect from you, youâre my little exception.â He gently lifted your chin with his fingers, his deep blue eyes softening as he smiled. âI always keep my promises.â He added, just above a whisper.
âNow, pretty girl, please can I have one of everything youâve got?â Bucky asked, glancing at the counter where all of your goods were on display. âJusâ make sure tâa double up on those chocolate cream puffs for me, would ya?â He winked and you practically melted on the spot. You nodded and hummed in response, not sure that you could get your words out and you thanked your stars that this time you were nervous because Bucky was making you all gooey and not because he was on his collection run.
As you finished boxing up everything Bucky wanted and sneaking in a little more than double of those chocolate cream puffs in for him, you looked up from the sea of bakery boxes on the counter as you totalled it up. âIs there anything else I can do, Bucky?â You asked, ripping the receipt off the register and handing it to him, knowing heâd wire the amount to you later with a healthy tip on the side.
âThere is one more thing.â Bucky smiled, moving around the counter so he could be near you again. âI ainât askinâ you as a mobster, Iâm askinâ you as Bucky.â He made sure you understood that he was being genuine, that it was coming from the heart rather than the mind. Gently, he took your hand in his, his other coming up to rest on your shoulder, his thumb softly brushing against the side of your neck and you gazed up at him, admiring how relaxed he seemed, how soft his smile was.
âI wanna take you out for dinner, jusâ me and you.â Bucky spoke softly as he trailed his fingers from your hand up your arm. You kept his gaze for a moment longer, seeing no signs that he was being ingenuine and he was very much being sincere. âWill you do that with me? You donât have to, you can say no and we can just continue how it always was, but goddamn, youâre my favourite thing about this city and Iâll be damned if I donât ask you.â Buckyâs cheeks warmed at his own admission and your smile grew as he spoke.
âOh and no entourage outside the window this time.â He quickly added, making you smile and let out a little giggle. âThis isnât part of our deal?â You asked. âNot at all, doll, jusâ wanna show some love to my favourite gal.â He winked, leaning in a little closer to you. âWhaddaya say, sweetheart?â Bucky asked, gently running the back of his fingers across your cheek, giving you a soft smile.
âIâd love to, I mean I- yes.â You nervously stuttered out. âAlright, Iâll pick you up tonight at seven, pretty girl.â He winked, leaning in to gently kiss your cheek, lips warm and soft against your delicate skin. âSee you later, doll.â Bucky parted from you with a playful smile and a wink. He had it bad for you.

A/N: This fic is for @after-avenging-hours August AU writing challenge. This is a Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes fic, when I originally took on this challenge, I had intended this to be a one shot, but after writing out my story board and all that jazz, it seemed that just wasnât going to do. So this part is more of a Steve Rogers delio, because heâs very important to the story. So I thought Iâd disclose that upfront. Anywho, I hope you enjoy! Tag list is open, so never miss a part!
**Do to technological issues, I cannot use the keep reading tab at this time. **
Warnings: um, Mob Boss? Some swearing.

Steve Rogers x Reader x Bucky Barnes
Itâs the roaring 20s with a modern twist, in New York City. You have just arrived on the New York scene, and have caught the eye of notorious mob boss Steve Rogers. Little does he know, your heart his pining for his best friend and right hand man, Bucky Barnes. Do you put yours and Buckys life in danger to follow your heart, or do you let the Most powerful man in New York claim his prize?
For years heâs worked hard to build his reputation. After the war, and the death of his father, the Don, Steve had big shoes to fill, and was determined to surpass his father. And nothing drives a man, like expectations to be the best. His determination made him ruthless, and not a man to be trifled with. He built his empire with sweat and blood, and was ruling with an iron fist.
Steve didnât have time for love, he only had love for his precious Rolls Royce Phantom, and his trusty M1911 .38 super. In fact, the only person who really knew the ârealâ Steve Rogers was his best friend, Bucky Barnes. Being the most powerful man in New York City has its perks, but it had its risks too.
Until the day you came along. Before you, Steve was focused, cold, heartless. But with you, he was a whole other man. Vulnerable. With you, he was finally able to let his guard down. You were a fantasy he never want to let go of. An escape from his life of crime.
From the moment he laid eyes on you, just a glimpse as he passed you by in his precious baby, he knew. He wanted you and he was going to have you. He would go to whatever lengths to make you his. The streets of New York City were bustling, as you stepped out of the cab. The street was covered in a thin, soft layer of snow, that was quickly melting away. Tucking your encrusted clutch under your arm, you pulled your fur collared coat tight across your body. Looking around, you took in the sights. The hustle and bustle of the city was beautiful. Loud, in contrary to the small town you grew up in out west, but nonetheless breathtaking.
âMiss, shall I take your bags?â
The bellhop standing in front of you, brought your mesmerized mind back to reality.
âOh Yes, thank you.â
A white car passing by caught your eye. It was nothing like youâd ever seen before. But what really caught your eye, was the man behind the wheel. He was handsome, strikingly handsome. But there was something about him that made him feel, dangerous. When his eyes met yours, for just a split second, you felt your breath catch in your throat.
âMiss? Excuse me, Miss?â
Your driver was waving his hand in front of your face, trying to catch your attention.
âItâs going to be $6.45 Miss.â
âYes, yes of course.â
You were flustered as you dug through your clutch. You handed the driver a ten dollar bill.
âKeep the change.â
You gave a little smile, as he thanked you for the gracious tip. As you looked to the street, the car was no where to be seen. The mystery man was gone. You felt a bit of disappointment, but something about him being gone made you feel... at ease.
After checking into your room, you sat on the soft plush bed, sighing in relief. Getting here had been exhausting, and you couldnât wait to get some sleep, but first, a bath.
A white claw foot tub, stood in the center of the rather large bathroom. The water run slow and hot, steam rising off of the filling tub. One foot at a time, you sank into the hot water, bubbles engulfing you. Your body burst with goosebumps as you were submerged in the balmy water.
The calm and comfort sent your drowsy self, into an unintended slumber. One of your arms slipping from the side of the tub, where it was dropped, sent the now cool water splashing into your face, startling you awake.
You quickly hauled your drowsy self out of the tub, hastily drawing your body, before wrapping yourself in a satin pink floral robe.
Taking a seat on the small stool placed in front of the vanity, you began preparing your face, a little powder, mascara, and eyes lined with a beautiful blended black liner, a dash of blush on your cheeks for a hint of color. Sorting through your cosmetic case to find the perfect shade of lipstick, you settled on a dark, yet subtle red. You quickly adjusted your hair into a faux bob, as you glanced in the mirror, making sure you look presentable.
Today was as the first day you were meeting your sisters new husband, and you didnât want to embarrass your doting older sister. After all, she had worked hard to convince your father to let you come here, the best you could do is put forth your best effort.
Rummaging through your clothing, after a treacherous 20 minutes, you had three outfits to choose from.
âAm I going for overly classy, trying to hard, or modern?
Resting your index finger across your lip, your stared back and forth between the outfits.
Okay, Louise will disown me if I wear trousers, maybe thatâs a little too progressive.
Tossing you trousers ensemble, back into your trunk, you continued on your quest for the perfect outfit.
One down two to go.
You held each dress in front of you as you pondered. The maroon velveteen dress draped nicely over your body, flowy, but snug in the right places. It hung just below your knee, keeping your appearance, modern yet modest. Yes, this was the dress. It complimented your hair and makeup best. Looking at the clock that hung on the wall, you began to panic. You were going to be late. Dammit. You quickly grabbed your coat, slinging it over your shoulders. With one last look in the mirror, you tossed your lipstick into your clutch, and headed down to the lobby.
Sure enough, there your sister stood, her new husband glancing down at his watch. Slowly, and cautiously, you approached the handsome couple.
âYouâre late Y/N.â
âI know Louise. Fashion crisis.â
Your sister looked you up and down, her frown turning up into that infectious smile of hers.
âYou do look lovely. Oh how Iâve missed you.â She pulled you into a tight embrace. You and Louise had always been close, you were only 13 months you get than her after all.
âY/N, I want you to meet my husband, Walter.â
âItâs a pleasure to finally meet you Walter.â
âThe pleasure is all mine. Youâre sister has told me a considerable amount about you. We can get more aquatinted later. As for now, we must go, if weâd like to keep our reservation.â
Wrapping your arm in hers, Louise dragged you towards the car.
âWaltâs parents have great connections, and got us reservations at Delmonicoâs! The real Delmonicoâs.â Your sister squealed with excitement as you slid into the back of the town car.
The car ride was rather short, when you pulled up to the rather tall building. Itâs facade was breathtakingly beautiful.
âIsnât it just gorgeous?â Louise was trying to keep her composure, but you could tell she was freaking out internally.
âItâs stunning. I canât wait to see the inside.â
You were seated across for Louise and Walter, at a small table near the middle of the bustling restaurant. You were halfway through your meal, when you saw, you nearly choked on your food.
âWhatâs with you Y/N? Eating to quickly, as usual..â Your sister chuckled at your expense. Following you eyes can she too, spotted the handsome man. He was dressed proper, dark navy blue slacks, his jacket tucked behind his arm, exposing his suspenders and ivory colored collared shirt. His blonde hair was slicked back, drawing attention to his vibrant blue eyes, and clean shaven, chiseled chin. God, he was a work of art.
âDonât even look at him, Y/N. Heâs bad news.â
Your sister went back to eating, as Walt offered her a bite of his meal.
âWho is he?â
âThatâs Steve Rogers. Notorious Mob Boss. Heâs one of the most powerful men in New York. Not one to be trifled with.â Walt explained as he took a bite of his steak.
But you couldnât look away. Something about him... it just drew you in .
He must of felt your eyes on him, because it wasnât long before his eyes met yours. They were intense, burning into your very soul, intense. You watched as a playful smile played on his lips. With that smile, you knew you were in trouble.
Blood rushed to your face as you became flushed with embarrassment. Quickly diverting your eyes, you brought you glass to your lips, chugging your fizzy drink, trying to keep your cool. Unsuccessfully that is, when the fizzy drink came dribbling down your chin.
âJeez Y/N. Are you trying to embarrass us?â Louise and Walt looked at you with judging eyes, as they finished that last of their meals.
âIâm just going to excuse myself to the powder room. Iâll be back in a jiffy.â Excusing yourself from the table, you made your way to the powder room.
Leaning over the sink, you glanced at your flushed face in the mirror. You were absolutely out of your mind.
Get ahold of yourself. Heâs a criminal for Peteâs sakes. The most notorious in New York!
You shook your head back and forth a few times, trying to push his smoldering eyes from your mind. Opening your clutch, you pulled out your small compact, giving your face a quick powdering, before heading back to the table. The room attendant opened the door, allowing you to make a quick departure. As you slipped through the door, you were stopped dead in your tracks.
âHello there darling.â He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed. His eyes looked you up and down, as you took a step back. Your eyes fleeted to the floor, cheeks burning bright red.
âDonât be shy now, doll. I donât bite... well, not usually.â His chuckle was melodious, making your skin burst with goosebumps.
âThe names Steve, Steve Rogers. Whatâs yah name doll?â
Taking in a deep breath, you collected yourself. Donât act like a fool now. Play it cool.
Lifting your eyes to meet his, you offered your hand to him, as he brought it to his lips, planting a soft kiss just above your knuckles.
âY/N. My name is Y/F/N. Now if you donât mind, I have company to return to. It was a Pleasure meeting you Mr. Rogers.â
With your most charming smile, you pulledback your hand, preparing to make your escape, but Steve held your hand tight.
âThe pleasures all mine Miss. Y/L/N. I look forward to our next meeting, and it will be soon.â
His lips met your hand once again, before letting your your and slip from his, as he winked at you. The blood quickly rushed back to your cheeks. With a faint smile, you fled, back to the safety of your sister and brother-in-law.
What a rush.
Taking your seat back at the table, you took a moment to catch your breath.
âWhat, were you running a marathon?â
âMore or less.â Shrugging, you ogled at the decadent slice of Devils foodcake, that sat before you. Your absolute favorite dessert.
âWhatâs this for?â
âWell, it is your first night in the big city, and dinner wouldnât be complete without dessert. And I know itâs your favorite.â
âOh LouLou, you spoil me so!â You waved your hands, placing one on your chest, as the two of you joked around. Laughing ever so quietly, not wanting to draw attention to yourselves. But you could feel eyes on you, as you peered slighly over your shoulder. You caught a glimpse of the boss in the corner. His eyes fixed on you. Daring you to look away.
A man stepped in front of him, blocking your view to one another. He was tall, his dark hair was slicked back, but messily, leaving some stray hairs, but you could tell it was styled. From his profile, his chiseled jaw looked tense, as his hands were tucked behind the dark navy trench coat, he wore. Something about him, it was different than Steve Rogers... He was intriguing rather than thrilling... Taking he opportunity of his distraction, you returned your attention to your company. You could feel your heart racing in your chest, echoing loudly in your ears, and you tried your best to pay it no mind.
Louise and Walt walked you into the lobby of the hotel, as you said your goodbyes.
âRemember Y/N, donât wander the streets alone. Ring if you need me. Iâll see you tomorrow afternoon for our shopping escapades!â With a quick kiss on the cheek, and an overly squished hug, you bid your sister and brother-in-law ado.
Lying in bed, you couldnât help but think of the words Steve had said to you. He was antes to see you again... no, he was going to see you again... just thinking of it made your palms sweaty. You knew he was no good. Bad boy looming with trouble, but you couldnât help but think, what if. And that handsome mystery man. What was the deal with him? Your mind was racing. The thrill of it all... Curiosity was getting the best of you, and the worst part, you liked it.
Sorry this took so long! I just havenât had much inspiration. I might expand on this some time.
- Ciel has inherited the crime empire from his parents and has great plans to take over Londonâs criminal empire.
- Sebastian is pretty much exactly like normal Sebastian except heâs a human. Heâs famous in the underworld for his great skill with throwing knives.
- Tanaka used to serve as Vincentâs bodyguard before he got too old. He still functions as a butler but he can still kick some ass when he needs to.
- Nyra sings at a restaurant in neutral territory. She is a great source of information and often spies for Ciel. She rarely meets with the young crime lord as he usually sends Sebastian in his stead.
-Nyra also breeds the attack dogs that Ciel loves. She found a way to safely breed wolf-dog hybrids. She doesnât sell them to anyone but Ciel.
- Nyraâs husband was a cop who found out about her shady dealings and in a fit of rage, killed their daughter. She killed him as well and has still not gotten over it. She is very distrustful of cops.
- After every mission with Sebastian, Nyra comes home to find some form of gift that reminds her of Norway. Reinroses, krumkraker and Julekake.
- Grell is a cop that no one is sure if theyâre straight (not about their sexuality) or crooked.
- Ron is the stereotypical doughnut loving cop who just wants to get the job done so he can go party.
- William is a straight laced cop who wants nothing more than to see Sebastian behind bars. He sometimes wonders if heâs the only one who actually cares about catching criminals.
- Yanmei is an oriental belly dancer at one of Lauâs many gentlemanâs clubs. She and William are in close contact; in exchange for information on various criminals he pays her money that helps keep her, her three sisters and her brother off the streets.
- William once personally showed up at the club to meet with another contact and in order to keep suspicion off him (because he is so obviously a cop), Yanmei gave him a surprise lap dance. It was an interesting and embarrassing night for both of them.
You walk down the street in the early morning, each breath carrying just enough of a bite to remind you that autumn is approaching. Thereâs the scent of freshly baked bread and the distant rumble of an automobile a block overâthen one of the newsies steps out, waving his cap in your direction. You stop, and return his smile.
âDid you hear?â the young man exclaimed, âThereâs a new alternate reality fic coming out this weekend! Itâs set in this very city, Boston, of all places! And, of course, in 1923. Guess they couldnât think of a better year.â He replaced his cap and struggled, for a moment, with his armful of papers before passing one to you.
Thanking him, you glance down at the headline, and skimmed the first sentence. Then, with a cheery grin, you flip the young man a coin and continue on your way.
Thatâs right, you heard it here first, folks. Thereâs a 1920âČs fic coming out soon with your favourite youtubers as the main cast! If you want the scoop before everyone else make sure to drop by the authoursâ blogs: @trulymightypotato, @randomringwrites, @lowat-golden-tower, @thatoneperson98122, @angstphilosophy, and @theparadoxicalfox. And of course, this wouldnât have come about if it wasnât for the wonderful @neko-puff, whose stream was where it all began!
His Favourite Gal: A Bucky x Reader Mobster AU Fic Part 1
An eventual mob!Bucky x Reader ficÂ
Part 1Â Part 2Â Part 3Â Part 4Â Part 5Â Part 6
The reader begins working as a waitress at Bucky Barnesâ favourite club in town. Little does she realise that working on mob territory owned by the infamous King of New York, Bucky Barnes, comes with itâs quirks as the reader is slowly pulled into the mobster life.Â
Warnings: None for this part, mostly platonic fluff.Â
Exiting through the doors of the bar you worked at, you trudged down the street. Putting your jacket hood up as the rain started, you began your cautious night time walk home. Youâd had another gruelling day; your boss was relentless and you were close to quitting and finding a new job. Seeing a group of drunks ahead of you, you decided to take a different route that was slightly longer. It took you through mob territory, but at least it was owned by the King of New York, Bucky Barnes, who made it his objective to keep the people safe.
Rounding a corner, you walked towards the most prestigious club in town, Starkâs. It was a huge gentlemenâs club owned by Mr Barnes himself, it was mostly famous for itâs casino and the fact it was Buckyâs favourite joint in town. Passing one of the tinted windows of the club, you paused when you saw an advert for a job. Inspecting it a bit further, you realised it was for a waitressing position, which was exactly what you were doing now. You pondered for a second before deciding fuck it and grabbing the advert and heading inside.
Upon entering, you were met by a bouncer, who immediately took in your form and realised you were clutching the advert from outside. He silently moved to pat your down, which you relucantly allowed. âGo to the bar, speak to Natasha.â He finally spoke, gesturing to the bar in the centre back of the main room. Giving him a quiet thank you, you walked through the club, feeling very out of place in your casual work clothes as you passed men in suits chancing it at the casino. As you approached the bar, a red haired woman approached from the other side and looked you up and down with a slight smile on her lips. âHi, I saw an advert outside for a waitressing job.â You started to explain, but she cut you off, waving her hand at you. âYou sure? We havenât had many applicants since this place attracts⊠well unwelcome mob families.â Her smile never faltered as she spoke. âIâve got nothing to lose.â You spoke politely, letting the corners of your mouth curve upwards, eliciting a smirk from her. âNatasha.â She spoke her name, holding out her hand to shake. âNice to meet you, Iâm (Y/n).â You took her hand and shook it.  âFollow me.â She stepped down from the bar and waited for you to join her.
You followed her into a back area of the club and stayed close behind as you passed through a maze of corridors. Natasha stopped at a doorway and snatched the advert out of your hand. âYouâll do great.â She smiled. Confused, you watched her knock on the door and open it slightly, poking her head in and talking to someone, although the door obstructed what she was saying from being heard by you. Natasha backed away and opened the door widely and gently pushed you into the room.
You froze as the door closed behind you. Here you were in your wet leather jacket and casual bar waitress uniform, tired as anything and probably looking like a right mess after your shift, stood in front of a large wooden desk. Behind it was none other than Bucky Barnes himself and to his left was someone you recognised as Steve Rogers, his business partner and brother. â(Y/n) is it?â Bucky asked, smiling gently up at you as he relaxed in his chair. His hair was long and hung loosely around his face, framing his handsome features. His jaw was peppered with thick stubble and his eyes were a piercingly deep blue. He was intimidating, but you felt a friendly air about him. âYes sir.â You nodded, finding your voice, realising it came out far weaker than you had intended. âTake a seat, (Y/n).â Steve spoke up, moving forwards and pulling out the chair in front of the desk for you.
Sitting down, you nervously wrung you hands, you had no idea youâd be meeting the King of New York himself! Maybe this was a bad idea. âWhat makes you want to work here, (Y/n)?â Bucky spoke gruffly but kept a slight smile on his face as he studied you. âI work as a waitress at a bar down the street, sir. I guess I wanted a change of scenery.â You fumbled with your words. âYou realise this place isnât exactly cut out for ordinary folk, right?â Bucky leaned forwards, resting his forearms on the desk. âYou have a family?â He asks, Steve settling next to Bucky and watching you as you shift nervously. âNo, Mr Barnes.â You shook your head. Bucky spares a glance at Steve and then back at you. Steve nods and then stands again. âWe donât have many people applying here.â Steve remarks. âPerhaps we should take a moment to consider-.â He continues, but before he can finish, Bucky raises his hand to stop him. âYouâre hired.â Bucky smiles, relaxing back in his chair. You look at him absolutely stunned, youâd just been hired on the spot after being in his presence for all of about two minutes, they barely even knew who you were. You knew they would likely do an extensive background check on you anyway. âCome to the club tomorrow night, seven oâclock sharp. Wear all black. Report to Natasha at the bar. Donât worry about your current job.â Bucky rattles off quickly as if he had the entire thing planned in his head. âThank you, sir.â You give him an appreciative nod. âMr Barnes is just fine, doll.â He smirks before Steve steps forward to see you out.
Your first few days working at the club go smoothly. Itâs an interesting learning curve, working with people in the higher society, but one you didnât mind so much. You didnât gain such unsavoury attention working in the club as you had at the bar. There were no wandering hands, no harsh words thrown your way and as far as you were concerned, for now at least, your bosses were fair.
It was the following week when you turned up to work when Natasha rushed up to you. Youâd arrived ten minutes earlier than your usual shift to prepare, which had become part of your routine. â(Y/n) thank god youâre here!â Natasha exclaimed, grabbing your hands and yanking you behind her. âWhy is something wrong Nat?â You asked, trying to keep up with her as she ushered you into the back room where the employees stored their personal items. âMr Barnes has been hounding me for the past hour to get a waitress for him this evening but weâre running short.â She explained as you opened your designated locker and threw your bag in. Shrugging off your jacket you looked at her with confusion. âI can take Wandaâs shift so she can serve him.â You thought it should be easy enough, right? Hanging your jacket on the hook in your locker, you close the door and turn to Natashaâs attention. âNo, (Y/n), he wants you to serve them tonight.â Nat shook her head frantically. âMe?!â You spoke a little louder than you had intended, your voice reverberating off the walls of the room. âYes! God, please just go into their room and talk to them, theyâve been waiting longer than I wanted them to.â She huffed. âYou could have called me, I would have come in earlier, Nat.â You frowned a little as you fumbled with your waitress apron, tying it roughly around the back and shoving your notepad and pen into the pockets at the front.
Nat quickly ushered you down to their private dining room and you quietly let yourself in. In the middle of the room was a large round table with around ten men sat around it. In the middle, facing you was Bucky, to his left Steve and to his right was another man you didnât recognise. âAh, (Y/n)!â Bucky enthusiastically greeted you. You tried to hide the slightly flustered look you knew you had as you approached the table. âGood evening Mr Barnes, gentlemen.â You nodded, smiling sheepishly as you looked around the table. You had a few polite hellos and nods from them. âAre you waitressing us tonight, (Y/n)?â Steve asked, sitting forward and flashing you a million dollar smile. âI am, Mr Rogers.â You nodded, lifting you notepad and pen. âAllow me to introduce everyone.â You learned the man on Buckyâs right side was named Sam. You realised quickly the people who sat closer to Bucky were closest in friendship to him than the others, those closest to him consisted of Steve, Scott, Clint and Sam.
Bucky motioned you to come and stand next to him once they were all done ordering food and drink. You stood where heâd pointed to and he turned in his seat to face you. You felt your cheeks heat up with a blush as Bucky smiled up at you. âIs that everything, Mr Barnes?â You asked. âNot quite, sugar. Add whatever youâre having to the list, itâs on me.â He grinned at you. âI â uh, sorry?â You asked, a little confused. âBucky wants you to order yourself some food and drink and eat with us, (Y/n).â Steve sensed your confusion and was quick to help you out. âAre you sure, Mr Barnes?â You hesitantly locked eyes with him and immediately broke eye contact. âAbsolutely, please eat with us, doll.â Buckyâs voice went soft as he cocked his head, pouting a little, making you melt a bit. âAs you wish, Mr Barnes. Thank you.â You smiled at him, speaking softly before jotting you meal on the notepad and rushing out of the room.
You immediately bumped into Natasha as you made your way to the kitchen. âHe wants me to eat with them.â You blurted out before even making your presence known. âHe what?â Nat frowns. âMr Barnes wants me to order my food and drink and eat with them.â You repeated, more calmly this time. âChrist, (Y/n).â She looked at you wide eyed. âWhat, he doesnât do that with the other waitresses?â You question, ripping the order out of the notepad and handing it to the kitchen staff. âHeâs never done that before.â Nat admitted, gaping at you a little. âAre you sure?â You surely couldnât be the only one heâs ever asked. âIâve worked here every night for three years, (Y/n) and not once has he ever requested that.â Nat almost laughed at how unbelievable it was. âIâll get someone to call for you when the foodâs ready. Let me get their drinks together.â She immediately leapt into action, snatching the drink order from you.
You waltzed into the private dining room with a large round tray balanced expertly on one hand. The glasses on top gently clinking together as you walked, swaying your hips slightly. Handing out their orders, you took your drink last. You noticed quickly that all the men around the table had shifted and there was now an empty seat next to Bucky. âCome and sit with me, doll.â He patted the empty chair. Steve hopped up to pull it out for you and you obliged, plopping yourself down in the chair and turning slightly to face him. You didnât want to assume you could speak unless spoken to, so you politely kept quiet while Bucky noticeably studied your face. âTell us about yourself, (Y/n).â He smiled, sitting back in his chair as he picked up his drink and took a sip.
âWell, Iâm from Brooklyn. My parents passed several years ago, I had to leave college to process the accident. It was horrible.â You realised you dwelled a bit too long on the death of your parents and immediately moved the conversation away from the subject. You did appreciate the soft look on Buckyâs face as he listened to what you said, almost like he felt sorry for you. Before you could continue though, Bucky rested his hand over yours and squeezed gently. âIâm sorry, (Y/n), truly I am.â He spoke just above a whisper. âThank you, Mr Barnes.â You gave him a tight lipped smile. âBucky, call me Bucky.â He patted the back of your hand gently. âAre you sure, Mr Barnes?â You asked. âYes, weâre surrounded by family, no business partners today, so weâre on first name basis, alright?â Bucky gripped your hand again. âAlright, Bucky.â You nodded, mirroring his smile.
You told him more about yourself, your interests, hobbies, about your apartment and your neighbourhood. How your dad had taught you how to sock a guy if he attacked you, although the times you had been approached by shady men you clammed up before you even got the courage to make the back off. As the evening drew on, you became comfortable enough to share a few jokes, which elicited chuckles and laughs from even some of the most scary looking men around the table. One of them, Drax, who was terrifyingly huge and angry looking clapped his hand over his chest and roared with laughter the first time you told a joke, which completely took you by surprise. What surprised you more was how easy it was to make Bucky laugh and play along with your antics.
By the end of the evening, you had spent hours talking with Bucky and his men and had warmed up a lot to them, especially Bucky and Steve. They might look intimidating and have a rather scary line of work, but the two of them were soft and charming on the inside, showing you a side to them you were unsure anyone else in the club was allowed to see.
Finally taking your leave, long past the end of your shift, you made your way to the locker room to collect your things. As you exited the room, you were met by Clint, one of Buckyâs closer mob family members. âBoss is requesting your presence, (Y/n).â Clint said softly. âWhat do you mean?â You tilted your head in a questioning fashion. âWants to make sure you get home safe.â He clarified. Nodding, you followed Clint out of the back door and down to a large black SUV where the door was held open for you by Clint. Sliding in onto the plush seats, you realised quickly you werenât alone in the car. Sat comfortably next to you were Steve and Bucky, smiling across at you as you shifted in your seat.
The ride home was comfortable and a welcome occurrence since the walk would have been long and potentially dangerous at this time of night. After dropping you off, the car waited outside of your building until they saw you safely enter the building and the door shut behind you.
You spent some time replaying the evening in your head, realising you were smiling to yourself when you remembered that Nat had said no one had ever been asked to dine with Bucky and his family. It brought a blush to your cheeks as you settled in for the night and awaited the next time you could waitress for them again.

______________________________
As the nights went on, you continued the routine for several days of waitressing Bucky and his mob family, becoming fast friends with them. You didnât want to assume you were friends, since Bucky was your boss after all and you still tried to keep an air of professionalism to your evenings with them. When it reached the weekend though, you entered work to realise another waitress had been coined for the job of waitressing Bucky and his family for the evening and youâd be lying if you werenât a little upset by that.
You spent the evening waitressing the other visitors of the club, occasionally glancing around to see the girl who was tending to Bucky that evening going between the private dining room and kitchen, but never spending more than a few minutes at a time in their dining space, waiting patiently outside of the door to be called. This gave you a little warmth to your heart when you realised Bucky had only invited you for drinks and food and the other waitress was not getting as much attention.
On the third night of this occurring, you mindlessly wiped down a table and paused as you saw Nat approaching. â(Y/n), I need you to go and serve Barnes.â She announced. âWhy whatâs wrong? I thought someone else was waitressing for them.â You thought out loud, you couldnât help but sound a little bitter, circling the towel one last time around the table you were cleaning. âHe asked specifically for you. I need you to swap shifts and take care of it, please (Y/n).â She plead; it wasnât like she needed to though. You knew it was bad, but youâd drop everything to spend time with Bucky and his mob family. Nodding, you set down your cleaning supplies and walked straight for the bar to pick up their drinks, taking note that there was eleven drinks instead of ten, which was their usual number.
You entered their private dining room, the chatter amongst the men immediately quietening as Bucky stood quickly from his spot. â(Y/n)! Doll! Are we glad to see you!â He exclaimed, beaming at you from across the room, his arms open in excitement. A few chuckles and reactions from the men around the table made your heart warm. You smiled shyly and giggled a little as you approached the table, handing the drinks out. You realised quickly that the eleventh drink was for you, Bucky had ordered your favourite in anticipation of you taking over the waitressing for the evening. âCome and sit, doll.â Bucky motioned for you to sit by him as the other men chatted amongst themselves. âI missed ya, sugar.â Bucky couldnât seem to shake the ecstatic grin off his face. You giggled and blushed as you sat down next to him and took a sip of your drink. âI was starting to think you didnât want my company, Bucky.â You fluttered your lashes, perhaps a little too flirtatiously and wondered where the hell you just found that confidence and if you hadnât crossed any lines by doing so. Bucky chuckled and patted your knee gently before sitting back in his chair. âNah, he missed you (Y/n), wouldnât shut up about you the past few nights.â Sam sighed, as if exhausted by the whole thing. âI missed waitressing for all of you gentlemen.â You looked up shyly at Bucky, giving him a sheepish smile and quickly hiding your features by taking a slow sip from your drink.
Bucky sighed contentedly, shifting to sit sideways on his chair to face you fully. âHow âbout a deal, doll.â He began, pausing for a breath. âBe our private waitress from now on, Iâll even pay you extra, have you driven or walked home each night. Our visits just werenât the same with the other waitresses that got assigned to us the past few nights.â Bucky patiently waited for your response. It was a sweet deal, serve them and only them, bask in Buckyâs company each evening and have a pay rise and a safe way home each day. It sounded like perfection. âYou have yourself a deal, Mr Barnes.â You smirked, raising your glass to his and clinked them together before you both took a sip of your drinks. âYouâre really something, sugar.â Bucky murmured, giving you a broad, sweet smile that you were convinced he reserved for you, although you knew that could just be wishful thinking.
As the nights went on, you became closer to the mob family. Your job didnât really even feel like a job, you spent most evenings sitting on Buckyâs righthand side where he gave you his full attention for the evening. The only thing you really had to do was serve their food and drinks when they ordered and the rest of the time you enjoyed your free drinks in their company each evening. Youâd even been asked by Bucky to give him your phone number, for business purposes, of course.
A week later, you were preparing to leave for work in an hour when your phone buzzed. Looking down at the screen it was a text from Bucky.
Hey doll! Howâs my favourite gal? Dress up tonight, real fancy. Got some business partners eating with us. Youâll have to speak to us formally but I promise weâll enjoy a casual evening like usual tomorrow night. See ya later sugar, Bucky x
You would be lying if being called his favourite gal or the little kiss at the end didnât do things to you. Your heart raced as your nimble fingers typed a reply and you changed your plans to try and look as knockout as possible. If you couldnât have a casual one with Buckyâs attention, perhaps you could still keep his attention by dressing up for him.
You entered the club as usual at the beginning of your shift dressed in a sleek, black dress, sticking to the colour code of the club. It hugged you in all the right places and looked damn good on you. You did your hair just right and put a little more effort into your makeup than usual. As you entered the private dining space, you realised half the table, the half that faced away from the door was full of unfamiliar men, presumably the business partners Bucky was meeting with. On the other side of the table with Bucky and his closest men. Bucky paused, nudging Steve in the side as you made your appearance and he looked across at you with wide eyes.
Approaching the table, you greeted them all politely, addressing them all formally and taking their orders. You took the opportunity to flash a few looks and smiles at Bucky while you were at it. Throughout the entire evening his eyes were constantly on you as you went in and out of the room, bringing in their orders and clearing the table. Being a formal meeting, you did have to wait outside before Steve sent you an alert on your phone for your required attention.
As the evening went on, the businessmen left, leaving only Buckyâs men in the room. Bucky insisted on staying, making everyone leave and requesting that Steve and Clint wait for him in the car while he enjoyed one last drink alone. Although he wasnât going to be alone. You entered the room with a drink for both him and yourself and you carefully sat down next to him. âWhen I told you to dress real fancy, I wasnât expecting this, doll.â Bucky began, a smile playing on his lips. âYou donât like it?â You asked, feigning offence and pouting playfully. âNo, I donât actually.â He said bluntly. âI love it, sugar.â Bucky all but growled. Was he flirting with you?! Surely Bucky Barnes wasnât interested in you like that. Still you took the compliment and blushed furiously.
âHow was your day doll?â Bucky asked, hoping to keep a light conversation and make the most of his last drink of the night. âIt was okay, I suppose. I went on a lunch date, the guy turned out to be an absoluteâŠâ You trailed off, unsure that Bucky would like it if you swore around him. âAsshole?â He finished for you. Nodding, you took a sip from your drink and sighed. âDoesnât deserve ya, doll.â Bucky concluded, patting your knee gently. âI canât seem to find anyone. All the guys I meet are rude assholes, they only care about one thing and once they get it they drop you.â You sighed, quickly realising you were going on about your personal life perhaps a bit too much. âSorry, I shouldnât talk about that kind of stuff.â You cleared your throat. âNonsense, (Y/n), weâre friends, right? You can tell me anything, doll.â Bucky nudged you gently. Throwing him a little smile you realised how close you and Bucky had gotten over the past few weeks and how much you loved his attention. âSo, what made you pick out this number tonight?â Bucky asked, motioning at your beautiful dress. âYou said to dress real fancy, so I wanted to impress.â You smiled shyly at him, you of course were not going to tell him that it was part of your attempt to get his attention and you tried your best to hide your blush by looking down and letting you hair fall down around your face. Bucky was quick to reach forward and tuck the loose strands behind your ear. âYou look stunning.â He spoke softly, his eyes locking with yours and for a moment you felt nothing but contentment as you gazed at him.
 ***
The next day went horribly, youâd overslept past lunch and when you went to the market for your weekly gorcery shopping, youâd been uncharacteristically clumsy for a waitress and dropped your bags of groceries everywhere. On top of that, you went on a date that turned out to be awful and the guy showed up already drunk calling you all sorts of obscenities when you tried to make conversation. And just to make your day that much worse, as you tried to wiggle out of your date, the guy drunkenly shoved you into a wall and somehow you came out of that scuffle with a huge bruise on your upper arm. You hoped your shift wouldnât be so dramatic, and if it was, that the drama was not focussed on you.
Trudging into work, sporting your new giant bruise, you quickly got ready to serve Bucky tonight when Clint barges into the locker room unannounced. Clasping your hand over your heart, you lean into your locker as you stare at Clint. âJesus, you scared the shit out of me.â You gasp. âSorry (Y/n).â Clint chuckles softly, taking a step closer to you. âLast minute change of plans, boss has got a dodgy client dining with him tonight, told me to warn you of his wandering hands.â Clint informed you, wiggling his fingers at you before perching on the bench in the middle of the room. âGreat.â You groaned under your breath, scrunching up your nose at the thought. You shrug off your jacket and shove it into your locker, grabbing your apron off the hook. âShit what happened to you?â Clint stands up immediately, inspecting your arm, reaching for it but left his hands hovering like he was unsure if he should touch you. âI went on a date.â You shrug, tying your apron on at the back. âDo all of your dates end like that, with you getting hurt?â Clint asks, raising a brow and peaking his voice in an attempted joke. âApparently in more ways than one this time.â You roll your eyes, shoving your notepad and pen into your pocket and glancing over at yourself in the mirror, fluffing your hair a bit. âIs it that bad?â You cringe at the sight of it. âNo, your hair looks great.â Clint replies, somewhat oblivious to what you meant and stands next to you, looking in the mirror at you. Giving him a light nudge, you scoff. âThe bruise, Clint.â You roll your eyes for what felt like the hundredth time today. Clint pauses, making a face. âEh, it could be worse.â He responds. That didnât exactly fill you with confidence. You mutter a quiet thanks before leaving the room and walking down the hall to Buckyâs dining room.
Entering the dining room, youâre surprised to see that itâs only Bucky and Steve sitting opposite the client Clint had warned you about. Instantly you felt awkward as everyone turns to look at you, the room falling silent. You watch as Buckyâs eyes instantly trail down to your bruise and shoots you a questioning look. âGood evening gentlemen.â You tried to inject your regular amount of pep into your voice, but youâre well aware you sound no where near as cheerful as usual, so you plaster a smile to your face, which youâre sure Bucky and Steve know is just about the most fake smile you could muster. You assume your usual spot next to Bucky to take their orders but spare a glance over at the client in question. Thereâs something odd about the way heâs moving in his seat. You shrug it off and take off to get their orders ready.
The next time you enter the room, you bring in a trayful of drinks, setting it down you serve Bucky and Steve first and then personally bring the clientâs drink to him, giving you a chance to eye him a little. Something about him just doesnât seem right to you. You walk behind him and chance a worrisome glance over your shoulder to Steve as a way to silently let him know something doesnât seem right. You exit the dining room and wait by Natashaâs bar for the food to be ready. âRough day?â Nat asks as she pours a drink and slides it across the bar for a customer. âYou could say that.â You heave sigh, leaning against the wall behind her. You make polite conversation with Nat for a while, but your mind keeps jumping back to the client in the dining room.
Youâre pulled from your thoughts when Nat all but slaps you on the shoulder. âChrist (Y/n), the kitchenâs calling for you.â You utter an apology before swinging into the kitchen, swooping up the tray of food and rushing it to the dining room. You enter and serve Bucky and Steve, all the while carefully looking up at the guy opposite you. When you take his plate over to him, he gets a bit handsy, hooking his arm around your waist a pulling you close, you internally groan as you look down at him, resisting the urge to slap him. But then you notice something odd. Something that seems out of place, but you canât be sure. So, you play along, much to Bucky and Steveâs displeasure. Running your hand over his chest, your fingers make contact with his exposed skin where his shirt is udone at the top, sliding slightly into the open gap and you can see Bucky tense at your actions in your peripheral vision. You manage to get a much better peak into his shirt while the guy is distracted with looking you up and down. Swallowing down the pit in your stomach at the way heâs looking at you, you take in a long, slow breath and in one sharp movement, you reach into his shirt, grip something and yank it out, throwing the black wire down onto the table. You push away from him and sheepishly glance across at Bucky and Steve who gape at you, and then Buckyâs expression turns to one of rage.
You see Steve mouth a few curses as Bucky leapt to his feet, forcing his chair back. The client hops up and goes for you, but you dodge him quickly. Bucky hits him from the side like a freight train and tackles him into the wall with a deafening crunch. â(Y/n).â Steve says your name sternly but you raise your finger to your lips as you rush to the table. Running your fingers on the underside of the wood, Steve stops and watches you pull out a bug the guy had planted under the table. Bucky reaches for it, immediately crushing it in his metal hand while he held the guy down with his flesh hand. You suddenly feel a pang of panic and bolt from the room, rushing down the corridor to the bathrooms and you lock yourself in feeling your breathing getting more intense.
Bloody hell, what if you just fucked that all up? What if you just fucked everything up? Will Bucky be angry at you? Sure, you found a wire and a bug, but interrupting the meeting like that might have sent things more sideways than they would have been if youâd just intervened at the end. Clutching your face in your hands you force a breath into your lungs and start to try and calm yourself down from the possible impending doom. God, why did today have to be so ridiculous? Letting out a shaky breath, you hear the rush of footsteps in the corridor and then the bathroom door is flung open. â(Y/n).â Steve breathes your name as he walks in. You decide against hiding and stumble out of the cubicle, afraid to make eye contact with him. âCome on, letâs get you to the office.â He puts his hand on your back and steers you out of the room, leading you through the hallways to Buckyâs office.
Perching on the armchair, you have a million thoughts swirling in your head and your anxiety increases as you begin to overthink and over react to the situation. âAre you alright?â Steve asks, leaning up against the front of the desk, placing his hand on your shoulder. You nod and swallow thickly. As if sensing your uneasiness, Steve moves to be right in front of you and puts his fingers under your chin, forcing you to look up at him. âBucky isnât mad at you.â He spoke clearly and enunciated every word carefully. A string of breathy okays leave your lips as you calm yourself further.
Your heart rate instantly spikes as the door to the office is flung open and the door slams against the wall, leaving you wide eyed and heaving for breath. âJesus Buck.â Steve frowns, nodding his head at you dramatically before clutching at your shoulders in an effort to calm you. You hear Bucky sigh and he walks into view, stopping in front of you and waving Steve out of the way to take his place in front of you. âYou alright?â Bucky places his hand on your knee. All you can do is nod after practically having cardiac arrest. âSorry I interrupted your meeting.â You say barely above a whisper. âAre you kidding me?â Bucky raises his voice slightly before realising heâs being too loud with you and instantly softens his approach. âThat was great, (Y/n)!â He exclaims, raising his voice again. âHow did you work out he was wearing a wire?â Bucky asks. You take a second to compose yourself and you lock eyes nervously with Bucky. âHe was acting weird, moving strangely, I kept an eye on him and I thought I saw him possibly planting the bug while I was serving your drinks. Then when he got handsy I noticed something in his shirt and realised he was wearing a wire too.â You explained nonchalantly. Bucky does nothing short of gape at you and then shoots Steve an impressed face.
âSteve.â Bucky says his name in a gravelly voice, but nods towards the door and Steve quickly leaves the room. Bucky looks back at you again and reaches up, trailing his hand over your arm. âWhat happened, sugar?â Bucky asks softly, brushing over the bruise, making you wince a little. âI went on a date. The guy shoved me around a bit when I tried to leave.â You decide not to hide the truth from Bucky, knowing itâs likely impossible to keep secrets from him, especially how his slate blue eyes somehow manage to get you spill everything without him having to push you for it. âAsshole.â Bucky growls. âHe didnât deserve you.â Bucky says bluntly. He lets out a sigh and then reaches for your hand. âLetâs go and have a drink, just you a me, doll.â Bucky waits for you to agree and then he pulls you along with him.
You would be lying if you said you didnât like the feeling of your hand in his as he walks you down the hallway. His hand is calloused but the skin on the back of his hand, while itâs peppered with scars, is silky smooth and you have to stop yourself from running your thumb over his skin. You knew this was purely a platonic situation and you begin to tell yourself your boss would never see you that way. Heâs your boss after all and more importantly, the King of New York.
Bucky takes you to a different private room this time, itâs much smaller than the usual one, the table only meant for four to six people rather than the usual twelve seater youâre used to seeing. Clint pokes his head in and Bucky asks him to grab you both some drinks. âOur usual room is having a sweep, gotta make sure thereâs no more bugs in there.â Bucky felt the need to clarify his decision of taking you to a different room. âWhat did you do with your client?â You ask, pulling out the chair opposite him, but before you can sit down, Bucky pats the seat next to him, insisting you sit beside him. âDrax took him to lock up.â He replied simply as he got up and pulled your seat out for you, which was normally Steveâs job. âSomeone else will take care of him, if thatâs what youâre wondering. I tend not to partake in getting my hands dirty with that sort of stuff, got bigger things to worry about.â Bucky explains, shooting his signature smirk at you that has you melting next to him. âBut, Iâd like to reward you for your excellent observational skills today.â Bucky says almost teasingly and you begin to wonder what on earth he has in store for you. âYou stopped some important information from being leaked, I owe you.â Bucky grins. âTell me what you want, it can be anything sweetheart.â And there it is, the way he tilts his head forwards and lifts his gaze to captivate you turns you to mush as every thought and feeling exits your brain. You start to feel awkward when you realise youâve been staring right at him completely silent and looking flustered for far too long and you turn away, trying to hide your blush. âNo, no, that wonât be necessary, but thank you.â You squeak out. âDonât be modest, doll. You deserve something, anything, name your price.â He chuckles to himself, leaning on the table and trying to get your eye contact again. âPlease?â He says quietly, his voice gravelly and deep as his hand trails up your arm. Letting a slightly shaky breath exit through your lips, you gain the courage to look him in the eyes again. God he knew exactly how to get through to you. âHow about I list some things off, since itâs so hard for you to think of anything, hm?â He suggests, leaning a bit closer to you. Just as youâre about to say something, the door opens and Clint strides to the table with two drinks before leaving the two of you alone again. âClint isnât a very good waiter.â Bucky scoffs playfully. âHeâs not as graceful as you.â He gently takes a strand of your hair and twirls it in his fingers. You are wrapped well and truly around his little finger and he knows it. âOr as beautiful as you.â He continues to list off, moving even closer to you.
You can feel his warm breath fanning against your face now and your heart quickens as you notice just how close he is. âMaybe I can offer you more money?â Bucky suggests. You shake your head, eyes locked onto his. âA car?â He tries again, resting his hand on your upper thigh, gently gripping it. You shook your head again, completely captivated by him. He hummed and narrowed his eyes playfully. âHow aboutâŠâ He drawls, giving you his lopsided smile. He moves in a little more, scraping his stubble against your soft cheek as he leans in to whisper in your ear. âA date?â You feel yourself burn bright red and when you donât respond, he retracts just enough to see your face and he cocks his head to side, signalling you to react. You choose not to trust your voice and you nod at his suggestion. He hums in satisfaction as his smirk graces his lips again, the deep rumbling noise of his reaction sent waves of excitement through you when you realise youâre almost pressed up against him. Taking in a shaky breath, you feel his hand slowly trail up to your waist and he holds you gently at first, before pulling you flush against him. You put your hands on his chest to support yourself and he looks down at you with that smouldering face youâve only seen him put on for you. âLet me take you out tomorrow for lunch, how about that, doll?â Bucky speaks softly and quietly but the roughness of his voice still makes it through in a deep rumble. âIâd like that.â You finally manage to get out, somewhat breathlessly. âIâll pick you up at twelve, wear something real fancy.â Bucky tells you before leaning in and planting a delicate kiss on your cheek. âDrink up, sugar. Clint will take you home after this, alright?â He swiftly changes the subject, smirking at you as he studies your face, enjoying how heâs visibly affected you.
As soon as you get home and practically stumble into your apartment, you collapse onto your sofa and began to wonder how the hell that just happened. Bucky Barnes had just asked you on a date. Bucky Barnes. Maybe your day wasnât so bad after all.

Good lord. This chapter took forever. I went back and forth on this for ageeees. I started with a totally different idea and everything I did just didnât work well and I kept having to delete it all and come back to it again and again. I think weâre there. This part is SO smutty, I donât know what got into me... Anyway, this is the finale to the MAIN story, however I am planning on writing further parts to this, either as shorter mini series that focus on future parts of Bucky and (Y/n)âs life together or oneshots for smaller scenarios.Â
Let me know what you think!
His Favourite Gal is not over forever. Expect more soon! Let me know if you have anything you want to see either from this series or something else đđđđ Iâm open to requests and ideas from people
***ALSO quick note, the car sex, I got the inspiration from a fic on Tumblr, it was a mobster Bucky fic I read months ago but I canât seem to find it to credit the original idea, Iâll keep looking for it, but if someone knows whoâs fic it was, please, please, please let me know so I can credit them***

âHowâs my favourite gal?â Buckyâs deep, rumbly voice graced your ears as he slid into the car next to you. âGood now that youâre here, Buck.â You smile widely at him and Bucky lets a little amused huff out as he looks at you sweetly. His hair is pulled back into a low bun, his shorter strands hanging loosely around his face, framing his features. Buckyâs stubble was reaching the stage of length where it wasnât quite a beard, but almost and you knew that meant heâd probably shave soon, so youâd enjoy it while it lasted. You knew you wanted the scratchy sensation of his facial hair everywhere. âChrist doll, I gotta stop tellinâ ya to dress real fancy, think you might give me a heart attack one day.â Bucky chuckles to himself as he takes you in, admiring your beautiful body that models your dress so glamorously. His eyes trail over you, a mixture of adoration and pure hunger in his eyes as he drinks you in. Scott starts the car back up but puts up the partition to give you both some privacy.
Bucky reaches over and presses a kiss to your cheek, fluttering little kisses along your jaw until his lips meet yours. His soft lips dance with your plump red lips, kissing you with an eagerness about him, but still maintaining that gentle loving tenderness that Bucky always seems to be able to convey. You whimper into his mouth as his hand trails up your waist, sitting on the curve just above your hip before slowly parting. âSorry sugar, we gotta take care of business first, then we can play.â Bucky winks at you while you pout at him, fluttering your lashes, begging for his attention. âFuck doll, you donât make it easy.â He chuckled, your hand grazing his chest and slipping under his shirt collar. âDo we have to?â You ask, voice small and shy as your hopeful gaze meets his. â(Y/n), sweetheart, unless you donât want us to settle a deal with the NYPD to help take down Hydra, itâs gotta wait.â Bucky gives you a tight lipped smile, but it quickly morphs into a smirk as your delicate fingers trail along the hard length in his trousers. âI donât think it would be very professional for you to settle a deal with this getting in the way.â You say just above a whisper, your voice laced with lust as you look up at him through hooded eyes. Bucky moves closer, his cheek grazing yours slightly. âI think you might be right, sugar.â Bucky murmurs against your ear, his stubble scratching deliciously along your cheek and down your neck as he presses hot, soft kisses to your tender skin.
âWe gotta be quick, sugar, you think we can do that?â He asks, riding the skirt of your dress up above your ass, revealing the lacey red underwear you wore underneath. âI think so.â You whisper, watching him unzip his trousers, pulling his boxers away enough for his erection to gently spring up, a bead of precum collecting on the tip and you canât help but lean it and run your tongue across the head of his cock excruciatingly slow. Bucky grunts and lets a moan rumble through his chest as he leans back against the seat. âI said quick, doll, I donât think thatâs very quick.â Bucky struggled to speak properly as your tongue fluttered along his silky head. You stop what your doing, Bucky moaning at the loss of your hot, wet mouth around his length and you straddle him, pushing your panties aside to sink down onto him. âHoly- fucking hell (Y/n).â Bucky gasps as your tight walls slide along his length.
Bucky pulls your breasts free from the confines of your dress, letting them bounce as you ride his cock. A string of sweet moans and gasps pass through your lips as Buckyâs thumb rubs circles around your swollen clit. âScott can hear you sweetheart.â Bucky whispered into your ear, hot kisses following his words down your neck. Fuck it if Scott can hear. You practically scream in pleasure when Bucky applies a little more pressure to your clit. âYou like that he can hear you, sugar?â Bucky asked, letting out a deep, gravelling moan as you slide along his length at a faster pace. You couldnât care less who could hear you. âBucky!â You moan out, his thumb picking up speed against your clitoris and you feel your coil tightening. You donât even notice that the car had stopped moving, signalling your arrival. Bucky gripped your ass with his free hand to help you go a bit faster and you momentarily pause as you hear a knock on the window. Bucky ignores it, knowing youâre right on the edge of your orgasm. The knock comes again and Bucky quickly tucks your breasts back into your dress, knowing that if he didnât roll down the window, the door likely would be flung open. Bucky reaches for the window controls, opening the blacked out window by a crack, but enough for Clint and Steve to see inside.
âOh- Jesus Buck!â Steve exclaims, pushing Clint away to stop him from seeing. You let out a breathy moan as Bucky edges you closer, switching to his metal thumb, causing you to throw your head back in pure ecstasy. âWeâll be out in a few.â Bucky said through laboured breaths. âYouâre expected in there in ten minutes, Buck.â Steve sighs when he sees Clint coming back over, but immediately spins on his heels and walks away when he hears you let out a soft moan. Bucky rolls the window back up, his cold metal thumb applying a delicious amount of pressure, almost vibrating on your swollen clit and you scream, your orgasm rushing through you, a shiver climbing up your back as Bucky continued to rub your sensitive clit, making you pulse your walls tightly around his cock, sending him tumbling into his orgasm. Bucky grunted into your neck, fingers digging into your ass as he came. â(Y/n), sweetheart, you are somethinâ else.â Bucky whispered breathlessly, before gently moving you off his lap to compose himself. âWe gotta go, sugar.â Bucky rushed to zip his trousers up, pulling out a handkerchief and snapping it out before gently wiping you down.
You and Bucky entered the building as if nothing had happened. You looked just as glamorous as you had before your heated moment in the car as you walked in confidently with Buckyâs arm protectively around you. Steve gave you a few looks on the way in that went from disgust to a knowing smile as he awkwardly avoided making eye contact with his best friend. âI canât believe you just did that.â He finally spoke as you all walked through the lobby of Buckyâs building. âDid what?â You ask innocently, voice peaking at the end, playing dumb as the NYPD Director moved across the lobby towards you all, his hand stretched out to shake Buckyâs.
All three of you entered the meeting room, the Director settling into a seat opposite you all. âIs it really necessary to have her here?â The Director asked, glancing at you. You quirked a brow before looking over at both men who sat on either side of you. âShe ainât just a pretty face, Director, (Y/n) here is my girlfriend and co-owner.â Bucky said with pride in his voice as you smirked a little. Co-owner; not heard that one before. The Director went red for a moment as he shot you an apologetic look and you enjoyed his flustered behaviour, knowing he was very much afraid of the trio that sat across from him.
âWhat do you say?â The Director asked, the deal laid out in front of you all. âAinât just for me to decide.â Bucky shared a look with you and Steve. âSteve?â He prompted his best friend. âIâm on board.â Steve responds, relaxing back in his chair. âSo itâs settled?â The Director asked. âPerhaps you didnât hear Mr Barnes when he said I was co-owner.â You spoke sternly, sitting up straight, your face void of expression as you oozed confidence. The Director blinked nervously as he wrung his hands. âDo I make you nervous, Director?â You ask, a small smirk playing on your red lips. âWeâll accept the deal if,â You pause to cross one leg over the other. âYou give our men immunity in mob related activity.â You puffed out your chest, your soft cleavage swelling a little. The Director swallowed thickly and nodded as you held out your hand. âDeal.â He agreed, reaching across the shake your hand.
âSo, co-owner, huh?â You ask, leaning back in your seat after the Director had left, a little smirk on your lips as your gaze burned into Buckyâs eyes. âItâs only fair (Y/n), your fatherâs livelihood went into this business.â Bucky nodded, a lopsided smile gracing his lips as he tucked some of your hair out of your face. âIâm not sure we could do this without you anymore.â Steve said in a joking tone, a smile on his face even, but the look in his eyes told you that it was the truth. âEspecially with that last little part of the deal you squeezed out of the Director.â Bucky chuckled. âItâs impressive how easily you can bend people to your will.â Bucky smirked.
âHow are you holding up?â Nat asked, catching you in the corridor. âIâm fine.â You shrugged, stopping to talk to her. âYou know what Iâm asking, (Y/n).â She pressed, making you huff a little. You werenât sure if Natâs pushiness was a blessing or a curse, sometimes you wanted to hide from her because you knew she would press until you told her everything and she didnât exactly have to try hard to get it out of you. âItâs getting easier.â You admit and youâre telling the truth.
Please donât press more, please donât press more. You see Nat take in a sharp intake of breath; her lips parted slightly. Sheâs going to press more.
âHow so?â Nat asked, pulling you aside into another room. âAre you still having nightmares?â Nat questioned as if interrogating you. âLess than before, theyâre not as terrifying as they were and when I wake up I actually know itâs a dream and not real life like before.â You reply, remembering back to just after the incident with Pierce and waking up nearly every night in a panic, thinking you were back in his clutches. Bucky would have to spend so long having to convince you it wasnât real, to come back to him, to reality and if he wasnât there Steve would have to step in and take care of you. There was one positive to it though, now you considered Steve a very close friend from the ordeal, having been there for you as well as Bucky the whole way through and continued to support you.
âYour mind still in a blender over it all?â Nat broke your train of thought. âDepends on the day, sometimes itâs harder than others.â You shrug, making eye contact with your red haired friend, your hand gently falling to your side, sitting protectively over the scar that lays under your clothes. âYou hate it, donât you?â Nat observed, watching your nervous movements. Why did she have to read everything you did? You donât say anything because you know sheâs right. You do hate it. It was still a fresh scar, only having healed a few weeks ago, the scar was pink and shiny on the surface, still raised above the rest of your skin. It was a constant reminder of what you went through. You hated that Bucky saw it every night and you hated that you had to look at it in the mirror. That Pierce was still invading your life even after his death, that his mark was still there. âYou should get a tattoo.â Nat nudged you, a smirk playing on her lips. âItâll still be there.â You shrug, looking up at her as she tucks her hair behind her ear. âBucky doesnât look like he has a problem with it.â She winked at you. âSteve told me about your little⊠Fondue this morning.â She giggled to herself. âAre we really going to talk about that?â You ask, quirking a brow. âYou didnât seem to have a problem with your two body guards and your best friend knowing exactly what you two were doing.â She laughed, leaning against the wall near the door. You feel a blush creep onto your cheeks, remembering the moment Steve could so clearly see your face full of pleasure through the crack in the window. âDonât worry, itâs good you have an active intimate life.â Nat clapped her hand on your shoulder.
âLook, if anything, I think youâre badass. You went through hell with Pierce and you came out the other side with as much courage, if not more than before. You wonât even back away from the mob life and even if Bucky wonât say it, heâs fucking proud of you.â Nat went serious for a moment. âAlso Iâm glad to see your kidnapping hasnât affected your relationship with Barnes.â Nat smiled down at you before excusing herself from the room, leaving you alone. But it had affected your relationship. Perhaps not in the way that Nat meant, but you and Bucky were so much closer than you ever were before. In some ways, you were worried you were a pain to him, youâd developed more severe anxiety, you were paranoid, especially at night and you refused to go anywhere alone without at least someone around if you didnât feel safe. People you didnât know made you nervous, specifically men in suits and you found yourself wondering if youâd ever be the same again. But you never would.
Fuck it. There was no point in clinging to the past. Things were different now, they were harder and easier all at the same time, but the challenge of living life as a mobster, at the side of the King of New York was exciting and terrifying all at once. But Bucky was there for you, he made sure you never had to do anything you didnât want to do. You ultimately made the decisions and had the last say in all situations, Bucky was giving you the power heâd worked so hard for, he surrendered it to you so easily. Because you were his favourite gal. That phrase he would sometimes say, it made your cheeks warm with a cherry blush, your red lips curving up into a sweet smile as your heart fluttered.
â(Y/n)?â Clintâs voice invaded your thoughts and you blinked rapidly, looking up at your bodyguard, Scott stood slightly behind him. âYou alright?â He asked, a look of concern on his features as his hand gripped your shoulder gently. âYeah, sorry, Nat just interrogated me and I got a bit lost in my thoughts.â You nodded, giving them both a sweet smile. âAbout the fondue?â He chuckled. âIs that what weâre calling it now?â You shook your head affectionately, a wide smile on your lips. âBlame Steve.â Scott cut in, a big grin on his face. âIâll be honest, I did find it a little distracting to hear you scream in the back of the car while I tried to get you both through New York.â Scott avoided eye contact; voice still confident though. âThe boss gets a new car with a partition and immediately christens the back seat. I never want to get in the back of that car. Ever.â Clint ushered you down the hall. âIâll do everything in my power to make you sit in the back seat of the car.â You poke him in the side as you approached the elevator.
âBoss wants you upstairs, thought weâd come and get you.â Scott diverted the conversation, swiftly avoiding it becoming awkward. âWhat does he need?â You ask. âGot some new for you.â Clint explained as all three of your filed into the lift, Scott jabbing the button for the top floor. âDidnât know you were co-owner now.â Scott remarked, smirking. âNeither did I, until about an hour ago.â You laughed, watching through the glass panels as you ascended the building, the lift slowing and stopping when it reached the top. âYou have Barnes wrapped around your finger.â Clint said quietly. âOh, I know.â You say playfully, stepping out of the lift and looking back at the two men with a grin on your face. They trailed behind you as you walked across the sky bridge to Buckyâs office. You could see through the windows that Bucky and Steve were already in there. Scott and Clint settled on either side of the door, Clint reaching over to open the door for you.
âHey doll.â Bucky grinned at you as you entered, moving to perch on the desk in front of him. âGot some news for ya, thought you might wanna know.â Bucky smiled, pulling you off the desk and onto his lap. âStevie and I found you a nice flat, now I know you said you didnât want anything too over the top, but,â He paused, watching you playfully roll your eyes, a little smile gracing your lips as your arm settled around his shoulder. âI just found this place and I had to get it for you.â Bucky grinned at you, eyes shining with excitement as his metal fingers gently squeezed your ass. âSam just went to pick up the keys for you, (Y/n), so thought weâd take you down to your new place to show you.â Steve cut in, dangling the set of keys in front of you on his index finger. âIâd love to.â You grinned, reaching for the keys. âLetâs go, doll.â
Bucky was right. It was perfect. It wasnât far from his house, in an adjacent housing estate. At most it would be a five or ten minute drive, probably a fifteen or twenty minute walk from one another. The apartment itself was large, but not too large. Bucky knew you like cosy spaces, something with enough space to feel comfortable but not so large and sprawling to make you nervous. Heâd had security systems installed, multiple safety measures in place. There were safe rooms, which Bucky and Steve made sure you knew where they were and how to get into them. Bucky had already had the place decorated similarly to your old flat, even finding posters and painting he remembered you had in your old apartment. It was so you, but with a healthy dose of Bucky added into the mix, an air of old fashioned classiness about it that mingled so well with your personal style.
After you had sufficiently thanked the two men, constantly hugging them both and pressing little kisses to their cheeks to convey your appreciation for finding it and setting it all up for you, Steve excused himself, leaving just you and Bucky alone in your new apartment. You sat out on the balcony, overlooking the quiet landscape in the distance as a gentle breeze shifted your hair about. âI hope youâll be happy here, sugar.â Bucky broke the silence, his hand gently resting on the curve of your waist. âI know I will be.â You smile, leaning up against his side. âThank you for everything, Buck.â You sigh contentedly as you watch some birds flit about after each other. âYou got nothing to thank me for, sweetheart.â Bucky shook his head before pressing a gentle kiss to your temple.
âIâm glad the deal to help take down Hydra went through.â Bucky spoke softly, his head resting on top of yours as you leant on the railing, watching the trees sway. âHydra will be nothing but a memory soon doll.â Bucky tried to sound reassuring. âTalk to me, sweetheart, whatâs goinâ on in that pretty little head?â Bucky curled his fingers under your chin to make you look at him. âI canât help but feel like my dad would be disappointed.â You say just above a whisper, almost too shy to say it out loud. âDo you like what youâre doing?â Bucky asked, looking straight into your eyes. You nod without hesitation. âThen it doesnât matter. Besides, even if he didnât want you in this life, I think heâd still be proud of the strong woman youâve become.â Bucky reassures you, the corners of his lips curving up into a small smile. âYouâre probably right.â You nod, matching his smile.
âWeâre in this together, sweetheart. You and me.â Bucky gives you his signature lopsided smile and you feel yourself melt, all of the difficult thoughts in your head disappear as his gaze softens you. Bucky leans in, his hands resting on your hips, metal fingers gently pressing into your soft flesh as his lips near you enough for you to feel his hot breath fanning against your delicate red lips. âYouâre everything to me, sugar. Youâre my whole world.â Bucky whispers, a gentle blush creeping onto your features as his soft blue eyes capture yours in a loving gaze. Buckyâs loose strands of hair fall from behind his ear, curving around his cheek, the gentle breeze blowing his soft hair to brush against your cheek. Buckyâs flesh hand moves up to cradle your jaw, his fingers sitting comfortably near the nape of your neck. A soft hum leaves his lips as your delicate hands wander up his chest, your manicured fingers sliding under his shirt collar, the other hand palms at his silky soft tie.
Bucky leans in closer, his stubble brushing against you as his soft lips capture yours in a kiss, the contrast of the two sensations get your blood rushing as you kiss him back, slow but eager, hungry but gentle. Your hand settles behind his neck, tugging him a little closer to deepen the kiss. Buckyâs velvety tongue slips across your bottom lip, begging for entry, his hand resting in the curve of your lower back as you let out a soft moan, parting your lips for him. Your tongues touch, eliciting a low, gruff rumble from Buckyâs chest, the vibration courses through you as you pull yourself against him. Bucky parts with you, looking down at you through hooded eyes, his chiselled features flushed with a tint of pink, the hungry look in his eyes as his gaze trails over your flustered face. His lips glisten from the kiss you just shared, slightly swollen and a little red. His tongue darts out to smooth over his lips as he watches you melt beneath him. Buckyâs large fingers gently scrape along your scalp as they find their way into your hair, the soft fingertips pressing a small amount of pressure, just enough to make you keen for more. The afternoon sunlight makes his skin glow, Buckyâs gruff, dark exterior is but an armour to you and you were grateful that he trusted you enough to show you what he was really like.
âYouâre the goddamn Queen of New York, doll.â Bucky says, voice deep and low, the gravel in his voice sending excitement rushing through you as you felt the deep vibration of his speech rumble in his chest. âI love you.â Is all you can get out, your voice much smaller than expected, almost coming out as a little whimper. A soft smile graces Buckyâs lips as he looks down, gaze meeting yours, deep blue eyes consuming you like an ocean wave, pulling you under. âI love you too, sugar.â Bucky responds. âGod, I love you so much.â Bucky breathes out, lips almost touching yours again, fingers digging into your delicate skin as he moves in, breath cooling the slick on your lips as he pauses to look deeply into your eyes. His lips finally pressing against yours, his arms winding around you and youâre like putty beneath him.
Bucky grips your thighs, his hands pulling them up and you press your hot core against his hard length as your legs wrap around his waist. A low growl surfaces through his lips as he carries you indoors. Bucky finds your bed, gently laying you down on the soft mattress, his hands wandering over your beautiful figure hungrily. He wants you; he needs you, needs to show you how much he loves you because he doesnât feel like words can express how he really feels. Bucky shimmies up your dress, revealing your beautiful red underwear again and pulls your dress off completely. Bucky sinks to his knees, pulling you to the edge of the bed, his face between your thighs as his cold metal fingers run up and down your wet, hot core.
Bucky wordlessly pushes your panties aside, revealing your aching pussy, his eyes flit up to yours quickly, waiting for approval. The deep blue irises capture yours as he smiles, watching you nod and whimper, shuffling impatiently, the feeling of his breath against your clit drives you wild and you buck up at him, begging for his attention. Bucky finally lowers himself, tongue pressing up against your swollen clitoris, a spark of intense sensitivity striking up through you as he circles it with his taught tongue. âTaste so sweet.â Bucky mumbles, the vibration of his deep voice making you whine out at the sensation. His soft tongue slips back over your bundle of nerves and a string of gentle moans leave your lips as your back arches. His tongue works you, deliciously slow, occasionally speeding up, applying different amounts of pressure as he focused purely on your clit. It was like he worshipped you, like Bucky wanted nothing more than to pleasure you over himself.
His metal fingers glided over your pussy, gently pressing into your hole and you let out a gasp as he curled them upwards to stroke your g-spot. Bucky could see your muscles clenching as you got closer, the speed of both his tongue and fingers increasing. âCum for me, sugar.â Bucky whispered, his words sending you soaring as you neared the edge of your orgasm. âIâve got you, doll, cum for me.â He encouraged, tongue flicking tightly over your clit, hitting the spot he knew drove you insane. Your hand flew to his hair, clutching at his chestnut brown locks as your coil tightened and one more flick of his tongue and you came undone. Screaming Buckyâs name you let him ride you through your orgasm, laboured breaths replace words as you pant, jerking at the sensation of his tongue on your clitoris.
Bucky sits back, hair dishevelled, suit jacket askew. Your slick painted his lips and beard, it glistened in the afternoon sunlight that poured through your windows. Bucky wiped away your juices from his thick stubble, coming up to lay next to your exhausted form, his arms immediately wrapping around you, pulling you close to him. Your head lay on his chest, the soft thud of his heart against your ear made you sleepy as you enjoyed his warmth and soft clothes. Your fingers sleepily slipping over his soft shirt and a satisfied hum left Buckyâs lips as he looked down at you.
Bucky had made it quite clear you were ruling his mob family with him. Together.
The though along had you feeling appreciated, loved and trusted by your mobster. He trusted you enough to surrender his power to you, to pass on what your father was never able to. Perhaps your father had secretly wanted Bucky to pass you what heâd left behind eventually. But youâd never know.
For now, you were perfectly content continuing your new life, life as the co-owner of the Barnesâ business.

You wake slowly to the sound of chirping birds. You open your eyes and see the rays of sunlight casting through the curtains. Shifting a little, you realise you're in bed and Bucky must have brought you there last night. You let out a yawn and rub your eyes, revelling in the calm for moment before you force yourself out of bed. Entering the main room, Bucky is sitting at the dining table with a cup of coffee and quickly sees you walking towards him, still with your fresh bed head. "Morning sugar." Bucky grins before getting up and moving over to envelope you in an embrace. You mutter a good morning into his chest and Bucky parts with you to pour you a cup of coffee. "You alright, sweetheart?" Bucky asks, slinging his arm around you as he hands you a mug of coffee. "Yeah." You mutter. Yesterday's events are still fresh in your mind, but you had begun to come to terms with it all. "I was thinkin' we could have that picnic you wanted tonight." Bucky suggests, looking down at you, his soft blue eyes trailing over your face. A light blush forms on your cheeks and you smile up at him. "We can?" You beam. "Yeah sugar, besides I think we both need a little cheering up." Bucky squeezes you as to take in a look sip of your coffee.
It was a couple of hours later that you and Bucky silently sat around the dining table. You had a fire going in the living room and you both sat with warm drinks. "Jesus. Where do I start?" Bucky sighs, looking down at his mug. You wait patiently for him to begin. "It all started when I inherited the family business from my father. He'd included me with a few things before but this was a big step. When my parents passed, I had to learn fast how to take over the business." Bucky explained, watching you take a mouthful of your drink. "I'd known Steve nearly my whole life. We've always been like brothers. I think we always will be, so we partnered up. He was in the same business, but not doing as strongly, so we figured we'd merge." Bucky spoke, smiling at the mention of his friend and paused to take a drink. "The gang that attacked us yesterday is called Hydra. They've been a threat since my early days in the mob. They are constantly trying to take control of New York, but I can't let them do that, not just because it's my territory, it's how I keep the crime low, if Hydra got in they'd spread like a deadly virus and the place would turn into goddamn Gotham, like in the comics." You saw Bucky's metal hand clench and unclench. The metal plates shifting a whirring as he spoke. "I'm almost a hundred percent sure they went after you to use as leverage or something, perhaps an attempt to take over a part of New York. Makes me wonder how much they were watching to know we were around each other." Bucky thought out loud. His pondering thoughts made you frown and you locked eyes with him. "If we want to get rid of them, we need to outsmart them, show them you aren't a force to be reckoned with." You spoke darkly, your voice is low and quiet. Bucky gave you a look of surprise and nodded slightly. "Do you and Steve have any plans?" You ask. "Not yet, sweetheart." Bucky replies as you lift you mug to your lips.
âThey seem to always be one step ahead, like they know what weâre up to.â Bucky sighed. You shifted in your seat and frowned at him. âThink they could be listening in or something?â You ask. Bucky hums a reply, scratching his stubble for a moment before locking eyes with you. âItâs a possibility.â He nods. âPerhaps itâs worth moving your dinners elsewhere?â You suggest, itâs the only place other than his actual house that he regularly frequents, but as youâve been told by Bucky, he refuses to speak business in his home. âOur dinners, doll.â Bucky corrects you, smirking at you. âI only started eating there regularly to see you, (Y/n).â Bucky informs you. âAll this time I just thought it was your favourite club.â You let out a giggle. âA favourite of mine is there, but it ainât the club sugar.â Bucky winks at you and you can feel yourself blushing almost immediately. âJoking aside, sweetheart, maybe youâre right. Maybe we should move our dinners somewhere else.â Bucky reaches across the table and takes your hand. âJust to be safe.â He smiles down at you, a smile that your mirror as you melt in his gaze.
The day goes by quickly, the pair of you mostly relaxing since you have little else to do. Bucky takes a few phone calls throughout the afternoon, mostly from Steve updating him on things at home. You and Bucky were set to drive home the following day and you were glad to hear that Clint and Scott were fine and recovering in hospital. Youâd be lying if you hadnât grown fond of those two and their humorous antics.
You and Bucky sat outside as the sun began to set through the trees. You were seated cross legged on a large woollen blanket around the back of the cabin with Bucky sat next to you. The pair of you had a blanket wrapped around your shoulders and you revelled in the warmth that radiated off Bucky. The crisp autumnal air left a chill down your spine and you cuddled into Buckyâs side a bit more. Bucky handed you some of the food you two had put together and you sat in a calm silence while you ate.
âYou know, I thought youâd be scared of me when we first met.â Bucky broke the silence. âOh, so I hid it well?â You joked, giving him a goofy smile in response. âIâll be honest, I did find you intimidating for, like, five minutes but then you went all soft on me. My big, intimidating, scary King of New York, Bucky Barnes is really just a big softie and I couldnât be happier that youâre not afraid to show me that side of yourself.â You rested your head on his shoulder before taking another bite from your food. You heard Bucky let out a huff of a laugh and he turned to gently kiss your forehead. âCanât help myself doll, youâre just too good for this world, so sweet and kind and cute. Never thought of myself with someone like you, not because I didnât want it, I did. I just didnât think someone like you would want to stick around for the long run. Most of my friends have wives they practically chuck money at to keep happy.â Bucky laughs to himself. You sit in comfortable silence for a few moments as you try to nuzzle further into Buckyâs side, even though you know itâs impossible to move much closer.
âAre- are we a thing?â You ask, realising heâd spoken about you in relation to his friendâs wives. Bucky sets down his nearly empty plate and you do the same, turning to face one another. âI didnât want to put a label on it without asking.â He replies simply. âThen ask me.â You can feel yourself blush, and you look up at Bucky, who nervously bites his lip. Smiling he looks down at you, his gaze flitting between your eyes and your lips, taking in your features and admiring the blush on your cheeks. Taking in a deep, slow breath, his eyes never leaving yours, Bucky leans towards you a bit. âWill you be my gal, (Y/n)?â Bucky asks, taking both of your hands in his and squeezing gently. âAbsolutely.â You grin at him and he reaches forwards, his hands grabbing at your waist as he leans in, his breath fanning on your face as you both stare into one anotherâs eyes. Your eyes become hooded as you glance down at his lips and you allow him to slowly move in, his eyes closing more and more as he gets closer. His nose brushes up against yours as you tilt your head slightly and his grip around your waist becomes a bit more relaxed. Your lips finally touch and excitement rushes through you. His lips are soft and plump and good lord you feel absolutely heavenly under his touch. You begin to move your lips and your kiss deepens, the only sound you can hear is your laboured breaths as Bucky gently tugs your hips closer. His hand travels up your back and cradles your head, his fingers winding into your hair as the kiss becomes more intense. Your hands slide across his chest and over his shoulders, meeting behind his neck as you pull yourself even closer to him. Buckyâs hand trails down to your hip and you let out a whimper. Bucky growls slightly into the kiss in response, his grip becoming firm, but still loving and gentle.
You eventually break the kiss and you both lock eyes. Buckyâs long hair looks a little dishevelled from falling out from behind his ear. His pupils are dilated with excitement as he trails his gaze down your body, taking you all in. You canât find any words to possibly fill the silence, so you allow it to stay that way, watching the way he savours every feature and appreciates the way heâs affected you. You can still taste him on you lips, the tingle of his lips remains and you just wish you could feel them on yours again. He sees you looking at him pleadingly and Bucky lets his hands travel up your back again, one resting on the small of your back and the other travels slowly towards the nape of your neck as he moves in to kiss you again. His soft lips are on yours again and you let him gently lay you down beneath him onto the blanket below you both. Deepening the kiss, Bucky hovers over the top of you before resting his weight to the side and pulling you as close as he possibly can. His tongue gently asks for entry as he slips it over your bottom lip, eliciting a little whine from you. You part your lips slightly for him and Bucky grips you tightly, rolling onto his back and resting you on top of him, your delicate hands resting gently on his large, muscled chest. You feel him groan, a deep rumble vibrating below you through his chest and the vibration send shivers down your spine. You feel your hair falling into your face but Bucky is quick to catch it between his fingers and comb it out of your face as his hand moves back to cradle your head.
Parting again you feel the heat creeping onto your cheeks and you let out a breathy giggle, smiling down at Bucky. âYou really are something else.â He speaks quietly, his voice rumbles through his chest and the low octave of his tone melts you completely. You lay down next to Bucky and he pulls the blanket over you both, wrapping his arms around you lovingly as you move closer, resting your head on his chest as you both look up at the stars.
Eventually you feel yourself getting tired, struggling to keep your eyes open as you melt into Buckyâs embrace. âTime to go indoors?â He pipes up, listening to you yawn for what felt like the hundredth time. You sleepily nod and he chuckles, sitting up and getting to his feet before helping you up. You instantly move to be close to him and Bucky lets out a breathy laugh, squeezing you around your middle gently. âYouâre so cute when youâre sleepy.â He kisses your temple before gently moving you off the blanket to clear up your picnic. âGo inside, sweetheart, Iâll join you in a minute.â Bucky tells you, collecting the plates together. You nod and sleepily make your way to the cabin and push open the front door, making your way into the living space and heading straight to the bathroom to get ready for bed.
You hear Bucky come into the house, the clinking of plates as he places them in the sink, washing the off slightly and you hear him shuffle around, likely locking up the cabin for the night. You finish up brushing your teeth and head to the bedroom. You pause in the hallway, your hand on the bedroom doorknob as you watch Bucky laying out blankets on the sofa. âWhat are you doing?â You ask, your voice coming out far quieter than you meant it to. âSetting up my spot.â Bucky replies, not turning to look at you. âIâm your girl now, we can share.â You nod your head towards the bedroom when he glances across at you. You smile to yourself about how nice it feels to say youâre his girl. Buckyâs girl. He pauses his movements of adjusting the blankets and smiles at you. âYou sure, doll?â He asks, his voice is soft and quiet as he moves away from the sofa. âYeah, I want to sleep next to you, please?â You flutter your lashes, looking at him with pleading eyes. Bucky chuckles and crosses the floor to join you, placing his hands on your waist as you smile up at him and open the door, letting you both into the bedroom. âHow could I ever say no to you? Get in bed, sweetheart, Iâll get ready.â He presses a gentle kiss to your head and you shuffle over to the bed, sliding in and letting yourself relax against the plush mattress. Your eyes close and before you can even try to stop yourself, youâre out like a light before Buckyâs even joined you.
You wake to the feeling of gentle kisses being pressed to your head and upper part of your face. Stirring slightly, you stretch out your legs and take in a deep breath, reaching up to rub your eyes. âMorning sweetheart.â Buckyâs voice is sleepy and deeper and more rough than usual but the sound of it, rumbling against you through his chest does things to you. âMorning.â You manage to get out, your voice considerably less sexy. âWe need to get going soon, sugar.â Bucky announced. âAlready? But I like it here.â You protest, wrapping your arm around his middle as he shifts to get up in an attempt to stop him. Bucky laughs and carefully pries your hands off him and turns to face you, bending over to look at you. âAs much as I would really, really love to lay in bed for longer and cuddle you all day, which I could absolutely get used to, we need to be leaving soon.â Bucky gives you a tight lipped smile and you nod, knowing he likely wouldnât stop you from cuddling him if it wasnât serious. You begin to get up and slide out of bed, sleepily stepping over to Buckyâs side at the dresser and pulling out one of the tops on the shelf. The wardrobe was ordered in size to cater for whoever was using the safehouse. You pulled out the leggings you had totally not stolen, hoping you would at least be able to wear them for one more day because they were so comfy.
After getting dressed, having a cup of coffee each and a bite to eat, you gathered together your belongings and you both made your way out to the SUV. You had taken the deep red hoodie you had seen Bucky wear the day before that he had left on the back of the sofa with the intention that the house cleaner would wash it and put it back, but you obviously had other ideas, enjoying the spicy, woody scent of his cologne that was now present on the fabric.
Settling into the passenger seat, you watched as Bucky started up the SUV and you reached forwards, turning on the stereo and relaxing back into the plush leather seat. âCan we come back some time? I know itâs a safehouse but-.â Buckyâs chuckle made you cut yourself off and he smiled across at you as he reversed the car. âOf course we can sugar. You just tell me when.â He reached over and ran his thumb over your hand before retracting his hand to put the car into drive and swinging the SUV around onto the dirt track.
You drove for a few hours; the journey was comfortable and you were content with just listening to music and chatting occasionally. âCan we go and see Clint and Scott when we get back? I want to make sure theyâre okay.â You ask, the city coming into view. âI gotta take care of some business, sugar, but you know what? Iâll get Sam to take you.â He replied, smiling across at you. âItâs sweet that you want to see them, doll, Iâm sure theyâll appreciate the company.â Bucky grinned. âAlso, we arenât going to the club tonight, weâre dining somewhere else.â Bucky informs you. âOh? Are you seeing clients? Do I need to be formal?â You wonder, eyes glued to the road ahead of your as you watch the city grow around you. âNo, sweetheart, you arenât our waitress, youâre dining with us.â He says it like it was obvious and you smile to yourself. âAh, Iâm moving up in the world.â You joked, earning a chuckle from him. âBut we are seeing a client this evening, so you might wanna dress real fancy again.â He nudged you throwing you a smirk. âOh youâll enjoy that, wonât you?â You tease, giggling softly. âGod, you have no idea.â Bucky shakes his head affectionately.
Bucky drives you through the city and up into a beautiful housing district. Eventually you reach a gated estate, the one you assumed to be the house heâd inherited from his father. The gates opened after a moment of waiting and he drove you up the long gravel driveway to the old 1920s style house. âWow, your house is even prettier than I imagined.â You gasped, seeing the house come into full view. Bucky pulled up outside and slid out, handing the key to someone to take the car to the garage for him. You hopped out before Bucky could come and help you out and he waited for you to join him. âHow about after dinner tonight, we come back here and I can show you around?â Bucky suggests, smirking playfully and leaning towards you, his arms gently snaking around your waist. âYouâd only show me as far as your bedroom.â You joke, poking him in the side. Bucky lets out a laugh and pulls you closer. âCan you blame me? You look so good, especially when you get all dressed up.â He flirts, leaning in closer to you. You stand on your toes and reach up to press your lips to his, his embrace is strong around your back and you feel so safe and loved in his arms as his lips move against yours.
You pull away when Bucky notices Sam pulling up in his sleek black sports car. You decide you have time to get one more kiss out of Bucky before giving him a tight squeeze and moving to get in the car with Sam, glancing back at Bucky and giving him a little wave. Settling into the passenger seat, you look across at Sam, who is staring at you with a knowing smile. âYou a thing now?â He questions, pointing lazily between you and Bucky, who is stood waiting in the driveway. âAs a matter of fact, we are.â You smile, putting on your seatbelt. âAbout time!â Sam exclaims. He turns the car in the driveway, heading back out of the estate and you see Bucky going back into the house now that heâs seen you off. âSo when did that happen?â Sam asks, nudging you in the side as he wait for the gates the open. âAt the safehouse, yesterday.â You reply simply, knowing heâs just going to dig for gossip anyway. Sam mocks surprise, taking in an exaggerated gasp. âDid you do anything else?â He wiggles his brows at you, laughing to himself as you round the corner. âWe kissed.â You couldnât contain your smile at the thought of it. âThat all?â Sam jabs, sounding disappointed. âWe also slept together, well not slept as in- I mean we shared a bed. Together. We didnât sleep together though.â You awkwardly fumbled with your words, Sam laughing heartily at your flustered expense. Christ why did Sam have to ask that? You probably sound like youâre hiding something now. You shake your head slightly in an effort to get the embarrassment out of your head.
âMe and Rogers have been working on getting things sorted. The police accepted the statement we made about what happened, so donât worry about that. Clint and Scott kept asking if you were okay. We havenât told them what you had to do, werenât sure how you wanted to go about it.â Sam explained. âI can tell them if you donât want to, I know itâs probably tough for you to talk about it right now.â Sam glanced over at you as he drove down a road, following signs to the hospital. âIâll do it.â You reply simply, your voice was confident though. âYou sure?â He asks, concern in his tone. âIâm in this now, for the long run, Sam. I have to accept what happened.â You assure him, looking across at him while he kept his eyes on the road.
Eventually Sam pulls into the visitor car park of the hospital. He backs into a space and helps you out of his car. Going from a high up SUV to a low sports car was a bit of a weird feeling. You walked along side him as you made your way up to the front doors. âHow extensive were their injuries?â You question Sam. âClint took the worst of the hit, he has a few broken bones, whiplash and some minor injuries. Scott hit his head in the crash and that knocked him out, his has a couple of fractured bones too, but nowhere near as bad as Clint.â Sam briefly explained as you entered through the sliding doors into the hospital reception.
A nurse escorted you both down to a room where both of them were being kept, as per request of Steve. Sam insisted on waiting outside of the room on the hallway bench while you saw them. Taking in a deep breath, you turned the handle and opened the door, both menâs attention was immediately on you. â(Y/n)!â Clint cried. âThank Christ youâre both alright.â You heaved a sigh, closing the door behind you before you walked in further to sit with them. âHow are you both feeling?â You ask, feeling awkward as you scanned the room for a spot to sit. âIâve been better.â Clint chuckled, as per usual he seemed to be taking everything very light heartedly. Scott reached forwards and patted the edge of his bed, beckoning you to perch there instead of just standing in the middle.
Sitting down, you made sure you werenât going to accidentally hurt Scott somehow and you smiled down at him. âHow are you, (Y/n)? We heard something happened.â Scott asked, concern lacing his voice. âYeah, damn Rogers kept telling us we had to wait.â Clint rolled his eyes. Both men stopped and watched you as you nervously looked between the two of them, swallowing thickly. âThe men that crashed our car,â you began, flicking eye contact between the pair of them. âI shot them. Both of them. I killed them.â You breathed it out, only slightly above a whisper, but both men heard you loud and clear. It was almost painful to admit to it, but as soon as it was out, you felt the weight lift from your shoulders. Scott gaped at you and Clint shifted, looking at you with sympathy in his eyes. âJesus Christ, (Y/n), Iâm so sorry.â Clint was the first to respond. âI had to, they were coming for me, they could have killed you, I couldnât let them do that.â You choked out, realising you were on the edge of breaking down again. Scott didnât say anything and Clint fell silent as they waited for you to continue. âSteve worked it out with the police, so Iâve been left well alone by them.â You explained. âBucky took me to a safehouse a few hours out. We laid low for a few days, worked things out, Iâm coming to terms with it.â You nod as if reassuring yourself. You certainly werenât fooling Scott with your confidence talk though, because he sat up straight, raised a brow and shook his head slightly. âAre you really, though?â He questioned you, much like a dad would a child. You took in a deep breath and face him. âIâm trying to. I need to.â You replied, looking across at Clint.
âWhat are you going to do now?â Clint asked. âJust keep on doing what I was doing before.â You shuffled about, looking down at your hands. âProbably wonât be waitressing for you anymore though.â You add, not realising how that sounded like you were going away. âYouâre leaving?!â Scott exclaimed, evident panic in his tone. âYou canât leave!â He cried, reaching for your hand. Your first reaction was to laugh, mostly at yourself for how stupid you just were to make them think that, Christ, you really couldnât have said that any worse, could you? âNo, no, no, Iâm not leaving, I promise. Iâm not waitressing anymore because Bucky and I got together.â You clarified. Both men looked at each other and then back at you. âShit (Y/n), donât scare me like that!â Clint crossed his arms over his chest dramatically. âWait, so you and Barnes, huh?â Clintâs features instantly softened. Scott grumbled beside you âFinally, maybe heâll stop talking my ear off about you whenever I drive him somewhere without you.â Scott groaned, earning a giggle from you. Scott beamed at you, squeezing your hand before letting go, satisfied that heâd managed to get that sweet giggle out of you.
You looked happy and both men acted like proud brothers, congratulating you and joking about how theyâd find a way to beat up Bucky if he ever hurt you, but they knew Bucky would never ever hurt you in any way. âGod, that man practically worships the ground you walk on, (Y/n).â Clint said, over dramatically. You laughed at his comment, a blush making itself apparent on your cheeks. âTell me about it.â Scott groaned, even more dramatically than Clint. âEvery time I had to drive him around, I have to spend the entire time having to drown out his running commentary about everything he noticed you say and do when he last saw you.â Scott jabbed you in the side playfully. You grinned at him and laughed at their antics; glad the two goofs were still just as carefree as they were before the attack.
You eventually parted with Scott and Clint, sufficiently pleased that they were both doing well and had ample time to catch up with them both. Sam dropped you off at your apartment, assuring you that he, Bucky and Steve would come and pick you up as usual for dinner that evening.
Heading up to your apartment, you had a couple of hours before you were getting picked back up again, so you took some time to clean up your flat as much as possible and then getting ready for the evening, making sure to pick out a nice dress to distract Bucky with. He had a tendency to wear blue suits, so you decided to wear a similarly coloured dress in navy blue. It had a plunging neckline, giving you just the right amount of cleavage and it was short enough to be sexy without it being too short.
A knock at the door came and you opened up the door to see Bucky dressed in his dark blue suit, although it wasnât quite as dark as your navy dress. âDamn, sugar, you look gorgeous.â Bucky greeted you, immediately blown away by your appearance. You beamed at him and reached up to steal a kiss from his lips. âCome on, doll, letâs get going, we donât want to be late for our client.â He rushed you along, down to the car that was waiting outside. Once you approached the car, Steve hopped out to help you in, stopping to give you a quick hug. âBuck told me that you two got together, Iâm so happy for you both.â Steve squeezed you tightly and let go to open the door for you. You flashed him a grin and thanked him.
âAlright, sweetheart, our client this evening is called Mr Rumlow. Seems decent enough. All you gotta do it sit with me, look pretty and tell me if anything sees off.â Bucky informs you in the back of the car as you approach the restaurant. âAnd for Christ sake, donât go close enough that he can see, yâknow.â Bucky nodded to your exposed cleavage and you giggled. âWhy is it too distracting?â You ask teasingly. Bucky chuckles and shake his head. âNah, doll, you can wear whatever the hell you want, just donât like other blokes looking as my favourite gal, is all.â Bucky gave you his signature lopsided smile.
Entering the restaurant, hanging off Buckyâs arm, you were escorted through to a private dining room where Mr Rumlow was already waiting with a glass of whisky in his hands. âRumlow.â Bucky greeted him, holding out his hand to shake. âBarnes.â He reciprocated. âThis is Mr Rogers.â Bucky introduced Steve, Rumlow moved to shake his hand. âAnd this lovely little thing.â Rumlow winked at you, stalking closer to you. âThis is (Y/n).â Buckyâs back stiffened when he saw the way Rumlow eyed you like you were prey. Rumlow took your hand and kissed the back of it. Acting flirtatious and happy, you accepted his attention, trying your best to ignore the creepy vibes you got from this client.
You sat mostly on Buckyâs right as you usually did when dining with him. Rumlow had a lady of the night with him but she was almost permanently perched on his lap, whispering sweet nothings to him now and again and trailing kisses down his neck. What made you undeniably uncomfortable, was how Rumlowâs attention was mostly on you. You felt a bit grossed out by his behaviour, it felt like he could see straight through your clothes. He looked at you with such hunger in his eyes, like he wanted to pull you away and have his way with you. So you decided to do what any other girl would do in your situation. You waited for a break in the conversation and Rumlow excused himself to visit the bathroom and you crawled your way onto Buckyâs lap, winding your around his neck. Bucky looked up at you, sheer adoration and love in his eyes when he looked at you. âWhat do you think so far, doll?â He asked quietly. You leant in to his ear as his hand trailed up your back. âHe creeps me out.â You whisper. âIâm sorry, sweetheart. You can leave if you want, I can have Sam take you home if youâre uncomfortable.â He suggested, and you smiled to yourself about how your wellbeing was noticeably so important to him. âNo, no, itâs fine, just donât like the way he looks at me.â You replied, holding onto him a bit tighter. âAlright, you say if you want to go home though doll, okay?â He reaffirms. You nod and smile down at him and flinch a little when Rumlow slams the door open and closed again, gripping tighter onto Bucky but trying your best to look as relaxed as possible.
Bucky lets you stay on his lap, the arm he keeps around you makes you feel safer and more protected than when you were just sitting by yourself and the warmth that radiates off him adds to the calming effect he had on you. Further into the meeting, the conversation becomes more in depth about a possible deal between Rumlow and Bucky. âThis isnât was we discussed beforehand, Rumlow.â Steve interjected; he was starting to get agitated that Rumlow just kept adding things into the deal. âPerhaps weâll just call off the deal.â Bucky says under his breath. âNo! No, thereâs no need to do that.â Rumlow replies. He seems far too hung up on this than a normal client would be. You lean in to Bucky and trail a few kisses across his cheek. âHeâs nervous.â You whisper. Bucky doesnât say anything but you know heâs heard you because when you pull away he gives you an agreeing look.
Before he can do anything, you excuse yourself for the bathroom and Rumlow coughs, albeit a rather fake cough and apologises, saying he thinks heâs getting sick. Before you leave the room you chance look back at Bucky and Steve and hesitantly open the door. You clock two men dressed in black suits down the corridor talking between them but they havenât seen you yet. Walking to the bathroom, you enter the room and see that two other women are in there, one of them is reapplying her lipstick while she talks to her friend who occupies a stall. You relieve yourself and wash your hands, the two girls still in the bathroom refreshing themselves. They start to leave, one exiting before the other. As you trail behind them, the first girl to leave lets out a gasp and youâre suddenly pushed back into the bathroom.
The two men from the hallway file in and you grab your phone from your purse, fumbling to speed dial anyone. You click on Steveâs name in your panic before your phone is thrown from your hands as youâre tackled into the wall, the other two girls run out of the bathroom in panic as the second guy chases them down. Your see your phone dialling Steve out of the corner of your eye as you wriggle against your attacker. You hook your leg behind his and pull sharply, causing him to lose balance and fall to the floor, a fibre wire clattering on the tile next to him. You come down to his level and punch him in the throat. âYou work for Rumlow donât you?â You growl. He tries to get back up but youâre too quick. Reaching down, you grab the fibre wire he dropped, and wrap it around his throat, pulling tight enough to incapacitate him but not enough to strangle him completely. âWho does Rumlow work for?â You snarl in his ear, pulling his back up against you. You pull tight and release some of the tension. You hum in his ear as he struggles, trying to prompt him to answer you. âHeil Hydra.â He chokes out, sucking in one more breath. Hydra.
Steve rushes into the bathroom, his eyes wide as he locks onto your crouched form strangling the air out of your attacker. â(Y/n), let him go.â Steve instructs. You do as youâre told and release the fibre wire from around his neck but keep it in your hand. The man drops to the floor, gasping for air, youâd almost killed him. Steve rushes forward, putting the guyâs hands behind his back and bracing them there. âRumlow works for Hydra.â You inform him, slightly breathless from your scuffle and you stand, brushing off your dress. âWhat?â Steve mouths silently. âChrist. Okay, go to Bucky, Iâll sort this guy out.â Steve looks at you, shocked. You pick up your phone, noticing the extremely smashed screen on it now from when you dropped it on the tiled floor.
You smooth down your hair and try to look as presentable as possible before you go back into the private dining room. Rumlow clocks your arrival and turns to see you, a look of confusion crosses his features. âSorry I took so long, gentlemen, the bathroom was out of order so I had to find somewhere else.â You make something up on the spot, but your unwavering smile and confident stride makes you hard to detect. You take your place on Buckyâs lap and rest your hand on his chest. âHave you seen Mr Rogers?â Rumlow asks. You look around and fake a reaction to Steve not being there. âNo, sorry I didnât even realise heâd left.â You shake your head. Rumlow seems to believe you and he turns his attention back to his trophy lady. You lean into Bucky and kiss his cheek. âHeâs with Hydra.â You whisper. You feel Bucky tense underneath you. He doesnât even hide the look of rage on his face when he looks up at Rumlow and back at you. He gives you a questioning look and you nod slightly. The prostitute Rumlow had hired got up from his lap, whispering in his ear one last time before vacating the room. Bucky heaves a sigh, leans into you and holds you tight, kissing up your neck. âLook away, sweetheart, let me hold you.â He whispers. You do as he says and look behind him, resting your head on his shoulder and look away. You feel him hold you tightly with his flesh hand. He moves slowly and carefully and you hear him carefully click the safety off his gun and in one swift movement, raises the barrel and fires a silenced shot right between Rumlowâs eyes. You flinch, squeezing your eyes shut and cling to him for dear life. âIâm sorry. Iâm so sorry, (Y/n).â Bucky holds onto you tightly, caressing your hair. âPlease donât be scared of me, (Y/n).â Bucky whispers. Your hands clutch at his shirt, balling it in your hands. âMânot scared.â You respond in a breathy half whisper. âLetâs get out of here, donât look okay? Iâll guide you out of the room, alright? I donât want you to see what I just did.â Bucky speaks into your hair and you nod.
He helps you up and you keep your face buried in his chest. With his arms wrapped around you, he guides you through the room to the door and leads you to the corridor. âLet me call Sam. I need to take care of the mess in there before I can leave.â Bucky kisses your forehead. âI donât think I want to be alone.â You squeak, your heart is beating like crazy as your anxiety spikes. âHey, itâs alright, I said Iâd take you to mine tonight, didnât I? Iâll meet you a home, I promise.â Bucky reassures you. Sometimes you feel like a child with the amount of reassurance you need, but Bucky takes it all in his stride, he doesnât seem to mind at all and treats you with such compassion and care. You hear the ringing through Buckyâs phone speaker, just loud enough to hear. âYeah boss?â Sam pipes up on the other end. âNeed you to come and get (Y/n), take her to mine.â Bucky instructs. âI need you to escort her out of the building, come to the private dining room at the back.â Bucky adds. âRight.â Sam responds, thereâs some shuffling on the other end and then he hangs up. âSamâs coming sweetheart, Iâm sorry I canât go with you right away.â Bucky pulls you into an embrace. âItâs okay.â You breath out. âAre you alright? I hope I didnât scare you or anything?â He asks. âNo, god, no, Iâm just feeling paranoid. I got jumped in the bathroom by one of Rumlowâs men, I almost killed him until Steve intervened.â You say shakily. Bucky heaves a sigh. âOh fuck, (Y/n), are you hurt? Will you be alright?â He asks, cradling you. âIâm okay, I got out of it fairly unscathed.â You talk into his chest, clutching at him tightly. âI didnât give you a weapon.â He puzzles. âHe dropped a fibre wire; it was very effective.â You say nonchalantly. âJesus, (Y/n), what am I doing to you, you were so sweet and innocent a few months ago.â Bucky exclaims.
You see Sam approaching from down the hall and Bucky gives you one last embrace before he pulls away, still blocking your view from the room and handing you over to Sam. âTo yours then boss?â Sam asks. Bucky nods. âThank you, Sam.â He pats him on the shoulder before seeing you off.
You slide into the passenger seat of the SUV, ignoring Samâs attempts to open the door for you. You just wanted to go home. Was this what life was going to be like now? Would you ever get used to this? You let out a shaky sigh and buckled you seatbelt while Sam got in the drivers seat. âWhat happened in there?â He asked, slamming the door shut. âUh, long story.â You divert, leaning against the door. âYou alright?â He asks, concerned. âYeah, yeah Iâm fine.â You nodded and then change your mind and began to list off the details of the night to Sam, who gave you looks of shock and concern throughout the drive as he reacted to each part of the story you told. âFuck, is my life going to be this dramatic from now on?â You ask. Sam huffs out a laugh. âDepends, once all this Hydra shit is over with, itâll probably go back to the calm it was before the storm.â Sam Responded, driving you down the road to Buckyâs estate. As you waited for the gate to open, Sam reached across and patted your leg. âPlease donât feel like you canât duck out, Bucky wouldnât hold it against you.â Sam assures you. âIâm not ducking out, Sam.â You cross your arms. âIâm here to stay.â You smile a little, glancing over at him and he smirks. âBarnes was right, you are extremely stubborn.â He laughs, pulling the car into the driveway.
Youâre sitting alone in Buckyâs bedroom, a book in hand as you wait for him to come home. You donât care that itâs past midnight, thereâs no way you can sleep without knowing heâs back home. Your jumpiness and anxiety had calmed down considerably, but not entirely and you didnât think it was likely to until Bucky was there.
A little longer passes and you get into bed, wearing only your underwear and one of Buckyâs shirts your stole from his closet. The door clicks open and you jump at the sound, only to see Bucky stick his head through the doorway. âHey, sweetheart.â He smiles at you. âI thought youâd be asleep.â He remarks, entering the room. Heâs no longer wearing his suit and is wearing a deep red shirt with joggers. âI couldnât sleep, I couldnât calm down enough.â You sigh. âOh, sugar, Iâm so sorry about tonight. God, it wasnât supposed to go sideways like that.â He swallows thickly. Bucky approaches the bed, sitting on the edge and taking hold of you in his arms. âIâm so sorry you got put in danger again. Iâm so sorry I had toâŠâ Bucky interrupts himself and sighs into your hair. âItâs okay. Itâll be okay.â You reassure him, squeezing him tightly. âArenât I supposed to be the one comforting you?â He chuckles. You smile and move away to see him better. You push a lock of his hair behind his ear and drink in his handsome features. He hadnât shaved in several days, so his usual long stubble was starting to turn into a beard. He looked so tired, so ready to rest for a while. âThis might be terrifying, but Iâm here for you. If thatâs the price I pay for being with you, then Iâll do it.â You nuzzle into his chest and he takes you into his arms, pushing you back against the bed and hovering over you. âGod, you are so stubborn. How did I get so lucky to have a girl that takes it all in her stride?â He smiles at you before capturing your lips in a slow, long kiss. âIâm so sorry though, doll. I donât want you in situations like that again. I should have known better than you bring you along.â Bucky sighed. âIf you hadnât brought me along, I wouldnât have found out Rumlow was Hydra.â You said matter-of-factly. âTrue.â He sighs. âMaybe just take some time to teach me how to protect myself more.â You suggest. âI donât want you letting go of me or locking me up in your house to avoid me getting hurt, so youâre going to have to teach me to defend myself better.â You say confidently. âYes maâam. I might be the King of New York, but sometimes I feel like youâre the real ruler here.â He chuckles. âMy queen.â Bucky murmurs, pulling you down into bed with him and you snuggle up against him and for a moment you feel the blissful calm as you settle down in his strong, protective arms, slipping into sleep again.
