What is this?
In February, March and April 2013, we, Sarah Baugh and Nicole Lavelle, will be traveling, learning and making in various places in North America. We are calling our project/practice/experiment "Sincerely Interested." (More on why later.)
In the month of February, we'll be living in Green River, Utah. There we'll complete a project (currently) called The Green River News, in cooperation with the Epicenter and a group called CHEER. We'll be working with high school students and town residents to create a single-edition newspaper that shares the stories of the people and the place.
In March, we'll ramble around in our new (old) 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia. We'll walk in the desert, do freelance design work at roadside diners, and visit a long list of places we've never been. Eventually our travels will take us up to the midwest.
For the month of April, we'll live in Detroit and work across the river in Windsor, Ontario (that's in Canada) as artists in residence at Broken City Lab's CIVIC SPACE, a storefront turned hub for community-based art practices.Â
Then? We'll come home to Portland. Hopefully tougher, smarter and with nice tans from the springtime sun.
On this blog we'll post a varied assortment of objects, words, photographs, thoughts, maps, lesson plans and whatever else emerges from our mobile creative practice.
Thanks for checking in!
