Today I thought the phrase “You will respect your Senpai!” at a child at work. The child judged me and asked if I wasn’t “Too Old” to know anything about Manga. Child, I was reading it before you could read.Â

I just want to share that today, I put away a “romance” book entitled “Tickle His Pickle!”

Well I feel bad. I asked a coworker to come in and help today, because there was a biiiig table. And normally when a big table comes in when I’m by myself at lunch, there’s a ton more. Well it wasn’t AS busy as I was expecting, but the big table didn’t tip well. So I don’t know if the pay she’s earning right now being clocked in and stuff is going to help her out, or if it’s gonna come out in taxes.
But I do know if I’d been by myself, most of the tables probably wouldn’t have tipped well or at all, because I’d have been running around like a mad woman.
Best moment of my night tonight. After I got of work (which kinda sucked tonight) I went out to get tacos with baronvonriktenstein. After that we went to Wal-Mart (as nothing is open past frigging 7 on Sunday anymore). Anyway we browsed the baby stuff because it’s cute shut up.Â
And There was a little monkey toy hugging a blanket that said “I love Mommy”.  There was another monkey, just by itself, which only needed a tiny orange cape to be Goku from Saiyuki. A few rows above it was a monkey toy holding an orange teething ring. I then proceeded to say something to the affect of “This is tumblr worthy, Erika giggling over an orange baby chew toy being held by a monkey.”
Then I realized they aren’t called baby chew toys.Â

One day I’ll understand why people assume that working at B&N means I’m a high school drop out with kids, and my life is going no where. And that THEY THINK IT IS OKAY TO SAY INSULTING SHIT ABOUT ME, MY JOB, AND WHY THEIR KIDS NEED TO TRY HARDER AT SCHOOL OR ELSE THEY’LL “BE LIKE HER” (read: me).
No, I’m a high school grad, my job requires at least a high school diploma or GED. I don’t have kids. I don’t know if I want kids. I am not financially stable enough to have children. But what does it matter if I did? I’m clearly working to support any supposed off spring I may have. And who says my life is going no where? Maybe I’m in a master’s program and I need extra money, or y’know just money. Maybe I’m taking a semester off, maybe I have a PhD and the only job I could get was there. There are people with PhD’s and Masters who are working at McDonalds because THAT’S ALL THEY CAN GET.
No, I don’t have those. I have 2 Associates of Arts in English and History. I’m really fuckin proud of those, and I got them without taking out loans. Does that make me better than the people who did? No, that’s just a personal “hurrah”, that I was able to do it. I’m saving up to go back to school. I’m saving up to get my BA in Education, so I can go teach and help children, teens, and adults.Â
If you work in a minimum wage (or less) job, please, PLEASE remember you’re doing what you can. You’re working your butt off, and people who say rude things never realize if we weren’t there, they woudln’t have their coffee, or their Big Macs or their pizzas, or whatever it is.Â
Sooooo my first shift opens at the same time as the bank I need to get money from to park at my work... FML
So I’m not a huge Harry Potter person.
But I’ve gleaned enough from tumblr and from my friends that there is a points system for the different houses. Today at work I had a group of teens come in, and they were wearing HP stuff. I recognize that much, y’know. And they all ordered Butter Beer Fraps which had to be modified because we were out of toffee nut. Anyway, they jokingly said stuff I didn’t understand to their friend in the Green Slytherin shirt. And I could tell she was getting upset by it, and she told them to knock it off.
So I wrote 100 points to Slytherin! On her cup, and left the others blank except for the drink name and their names. It seemed to cheer her up, and she asked me if I, too, was a Slytherin. I had to tell her I wasn’t, (pottermore said Ravenclaw? idk) but she was still pretty happy about it. Her friends didn’t comment, so I guess they didn’t care?
Anyway that’s my good deed for the year, right?
