Like the Consul the transmission was by way of a three-speed gearbox, controlled by a column-mounted lever (three-on-the-tree). Front suspension was by what was later to be called MacPherson struts, with a conventional rear suspension of live axle with half elliptical springs. The Ford Zephyr Six was available with four-door saloon, estate, and two-door convertible bodies. The convertible version was made by Carbodies and had a power-operated hood; the estate car was by Abbotts of Farnham and was sold as the Farnham. First seen at the 1951 Earls Court Motorshow, but not many produced until 1953. Body from Carbodies of Coventry. Built alongside the 1508 cc Mk.1 Consul convertible but differing mechanically and by the hood on Consul being manually operated and the Zephyr was motor driven to the de ville position.
