Hey, I need help picking genres for My Normal isn’t Normal (MNiN) on Webtoons! One of them is obviously gonna be Drama, but idk if the other should be Fantasy or Slice of Life, so help me decide?
Argument for Fantasy:
Claudia, the MC, is made of bone. Idk about you, but a walking, talking bone creature doesn’t seem like something you see outside of sci-fi and fantasy
There is arguably a lot of what looks like magical realism in the story
This story is arguably not on speaking terms with reality as we know it so much as it is engaged in a shouting match
Argument for Slice of Life:
There is no actual magic; our POV is mostly a warped dramatization of the world based on Claudia’s feelings, including our perception of Claudia
To be very clear, while Claudia disassociates A Lot, she’s not hallucinating, and this is very clearly communicated in the story
This story is about her recovering from Bad Things to get to a better place mentally, so any quasi-fantasy elements are really just metaphors, and Claudia is working towards incorporating more reality into her life, not less
As it stands, MNiN will either be Drama/Fantasy or Slice of Life/Drama, though I’m leaning towards the latter. Please HMU with opinions and questions y’all! :D
