The Plant Island--at first glance--represents feigned innocence similarly to the house on Ashtree Lane. The Plants Island displays itself as a safe space filled with family-friendly entertainment, and the house displays itself as, well, a regular old house.

Only when Kade delves deeper, out of the office (Navidson into the 5 1/2 minute hallway) does the truth reach the surface.

Nocturna and The Virtuoso represent the house's inner workings and nature, creating and molding to their will.

Both Navidson and The Man in The Right Corner lost everything to their respective locations, and for both of them it was entirely their fault. For Navidson, the house drove him away from everyone he loved. For The Man in The Right Corner, The Plant Island took his daughter and his sanity (unless he was fucking batshit beforehand. not sure yet. still haven't finished Log of a Lost Traveler or gotten the chance to actually play the FUCKING GAME)

ok i almost typed something about how The Navidson Record is a fictional work in the world of House of Leaves similarly to the way the world Kade Kingston lives in is a completely fake one as well (the 'FNAF fan game' really having nothing to do with the ACTUAL plot).
