Since I consider you very knowledgeable in mmorpg arcana (and I love you cos you're the best^^), I've decided to unleash my problems here. I'm a newbie in mmorpg community so I still struggle with understanding terms (the people aren't really keen on explaining either :/). I was wondering if you know any general mmorpg dictionary. With words that are common in every mmo (like aggro or tank). I've scrolled through this whole blog and haven't found it but if someone asked that, sorry.
Ooooh no one has asked this. I actually have been in the community so long I just kinda learnt it all without knowing. I will say that terms will change depending on the game. For example:
Hate vs Aggro vs enmity. These three terms mean the same thing: basically how much of an aggression level an enemy has towards you or someone else. The most general term is hate. You’ll hear it everywhere. But the other two terms can be used differently. Aggro as in “The tank aggro’d those mobs” or “the healer accidentally aggro’d another group. It’s the verb form of Hate basically. And Enmity is often referred to as a stat. For example in FFXI, enmity actually was a stackible stat for tanks.
But anyway I did find this after googling it. Maybe it’ll help? Also you can always just ask us directly. Me and Prox are more than happy to help out. :)
