yeahh…I'm always late to these kinds of things.

It feels weird sharing side characters designs first since I’ve got the main lineup done but I’m doing some adjustments to that and I just really like my monkey triplet designs. I finished up these guys last night and I’m so happy with them, especially Xochiquetzal. Her design is already peak so I’m really just having fun with it. I’m really fond of her big flower, nose ring and pinkness.

Although Chrysanthe and Asterios are both royals, they have quite different backgrounds. I was reading in a book I bought recently that the Minoans might have had access to monkeys through their trade partners such as Egypt. This was proposed as a possible inspiration for the monkeys in Minoan frescoes. Asterios came from a more modest Mycenaean territory with less access to wealth. Even if nearby courts had exposure to monkeys, he sure as hell didn’t.
