He saved the best for last on Wednesday. Down by two runs in the ninth inning, the Washington Nationals got a solo shot from Jayson Werth before loading the bases for Wieters, who promptly singled to center field, spoiling what looked like a sure win for the Baltimore Orioles. The comeback stopped the Orioles' six-game winning streak, while also putting a halt to the Nats' three-game slide.

This marks the third career Gold Glove for Simmons (also, 2013 & 2014) and first for Maldonado. Simmons, 28, becomes the fourth Angels shortstop to win a Gold Glove Award, joining Jim Fregosi (1967), Orlando Cabrera (2007) and Erick Aybar (2011). Maldonado, 31, joins Bob Boone (1982, 1986, 1987 & 1988) and Bengie Molina (2002 & 2003) as the only players in franchise history to win a Gold Glove Award as a catcher

#MLBStrikeZone Longoria wins third Gold Glove Award Evan Longoria claimed his third American League Rawlings Gold Glove Award (2009, 2010) tonight, winning over finalists Manny Machado (Orioles) and Jose Ramirez (Indians). Longoria, 32, becomes the first player in franchise history to win three Gold Glove Awards. It is the eighth Gold Glove Award in franchise history. "The Gold Glove is one of the awards when I first started playing that I always wanted to win so to win a third one is really cool," said Longoria. "I definitely take pride in my defense. ...It feels good to win it, and it feels good to win it in front of some really good players and some guys who put together good years."
