I'm a little sad they gave away the origins of the 'puppies and kittens' phrasing in the final season, I really liked it just being a quirk of Warren's that everybody else catches. I mean, it was a cool flashback sequence but idk, there was something about it originating with this hardass badass woman which was delightfully incongruous??
I actually really LOVE the origin, because Warren WAS a badass through and through, but she has a kind heart. She was national guard, arguably the most tolerable military in that they're supposed to help citizens out, they're supposed to save people on home soil. And she definitely is here to save people, she wants to protect people, she wants to save the world. And she saw a young woman terrified out of her mind comforting herself with this phrase and instantly adopted it into her vernacular and I'm positive she never explains it to anyone, but it has probably brought comfort to countless people specifically because she is this hardass badass calling out "puppies and kittens!" and it's startling and delightful and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Just because she didn't think of it personally doesn't mean it's not a quirk of hers now, it just means its one that grew where someone touched her life!
