You know the phrase "never meet your heroes"? Yeah, that's how Tanya feels about Amara for most of the Umgadi Girls AU!🫣

Though Li Mei is her all-time favourite, Tanya was a fan of all of the OG Girls, which, of course, included Amara!

Their defiance and fierceness inspire Tanya since she was a kid! She wanted to be just like them, someone who makes an impact and who's not afraid of breaking rule or two (or all of them)!

So you can imagine her disappointment when she realised Amara had grown into a conformist, always sticking to the rules, even when they made no sense, constantly antagonising Tanya and her team and getting in the way of their missions!

The High Mage had become a nuisance, so Tanya made it her personal goal to become the bane of her existence in retaliation!

Did you know the training to become official Umgadi is called Nyjura? And the not-yet-Umgadi are called Postulants?

Yeah, apparently, my girls are ✨️Postulants on their Nyjura!✨️ Very kind of MK1 to give me the precise terms I would be needing! I'll be sure to be adding those!👀

A design change:

You might’ve noticed Tanya is wearing MK1's version of the MK2 outfits! That is because I decided to make them the Postulants' official outfit and, therefore, the Umgadi Girls oficial fit! Oh, and the OG Girls will be wearing the actual MK2 fits (you know, Klassic vs. modernised kinda vibes)!

And to wrap this all up:

I FINALLY FINISHED THIS AAAAAAAA 😱😱😱😱😱

This took waaaay too damn long man, way longer then I thought it would, good god. especially the water part hereeee. Eefffhffg,,

Yea, basically for almost HOURS today, I’ve been working on THIS art right here, some Mk 11 Rain angst art cuz yes. It’s one of the things I’ve been wanting to draw for awhile now and with the start of the dreadful vacation already getting close (June 1st), why not do this now?

That water lady is meant to be Amara btw, Rain’s dear mother. I feel bad for her (both her and Rain), she didn’t deserve what happened to her. (MK11 Rain’s tower mode ending,,,,. If ya know, ya know.) dude, fuck Argus.

I must say that she was an special challenge when it came to try to find her as similar as possible clothes to your design (which I must link for anyone to see and enjoy as usual 💯). She was still fun to do, so I hope you will enjoy the results 😌

And, of course, there's also the interactions I promised with her counterpart with this AU, whose story is a bit curious. It relates to a lot of stuff in this AU, so I may have to suggest to read the bios of the rest of the Argus fam to get a full picture of what's being told there (my fault for putting too much info when writing the bios 😅 Hope it's not too long to read): Delia, Argus, Rain, Taven, Daegon.

There's also a fun fact I have to share about her. Many things related to the Edenian Regime and its government's ideology I have based in a certain character of a series called One Piece, Sakazuki (better known as Akainu), of whom I can share a YouTube tribute that I think encapsulates him well right here:

Just some quotes that I feel encapsulate the 'twisted justice' feeling of this guy I have wanted to give to the Edenian Regime in this AU

Inspired by how MK's hydromancy can be just as destructive as the magma powers Akainu has, I ended up deciding to use Mirror Amara as the character of this AU inspired the most by him. I try to give her the same unstoppable determination to fight for a wrong cause guided by a twisted sense of justice (in her case, the Edenian Regime's fight for 'peace').

I also had Mirror Amara do... something pretty horrible for Mirror Kollector's backstory (which I reference in the interactions) as reference to something Akainu did in the series: causing a genocide just because there was the possibility people who had information about dangerous weapons could be among the people he killed 💀

I had thought that this personality I gave Mirror Amara could be interesting if it clashed with your Amara, who's a morally grey character, so I had imagined Mirror Amara may be some ways like her but with her flaws up to a million lmao.

Unfortunately I feel I didn't play as much as I would have wanted with your Amara's moral greyness in these interactions 😞 (mainly because her opponent is such an straight up villain lmao). But here is my attempt, nonetheless. Also researched a bunch to remember stuff of your Umgadi Girls AU and reference it! 🔥

High Mage Amara: The Lady of Storm? Mirror Amara: A title I was given by my people and that I carry with honor. High Mage Amara: And yet, outside of your Edenia, those in your timeline only seemed to fear that name.

Mirror Amara: Your position in your realm’s court and your title as High Mage proves you are capable… High Mage Amara: interrupts her. With that tone of yours, I could tell by a mile this isn’t a praise. Get to the point. Mirror Amara: You are capable of much more than you actually do, just like your Edenia. You should do more to change that wicked realm you have been cursed to exist in.

High Mage Amara: gives her a judging glare. I have been made aware of what you did in Naknada. Mirror Amara: … An action whose weight I will always need to carry, knowing that I was the only one that could do what was necessary no matter the… High Mage Amara: Such a weight you are using it as an excuse to pat yourself in the back.

Mirror Amara: Your indiscipline earned you the anger of Lady Cetrion herself. High Mage Amara: The mistake I committed is something I have felt great regret for. And that's a feeling I know you couldn’t understand given that you don’t feel any regret for atrocities. Mirror Amara: As long as my realm’s mission advances, I have nothing to regret.

High Mage Amara: You and your allies talk and talk about bringing peace to other realms, and yet all I see you are bringing to your timeline's Outworld is war. Mirror Amara: When beasts are out there, real peace can only be obtained if they are tamed or sacrificed. Whatever we may do to that realm of savages is necessary to dictate peace. High Mage Amara: You also like to talk about self-dellusions and excuses, it seems.

Mirror Amara: Your Edenia uses a tournament to try and intimidate barbarians? High Mage Amara: A practice whose necessity I am willing to debate with admirable people, but most definitely not with you. I can’t even begin to grasp how it would be wrong by your Regime’s standards. Mirror Amara: Threats are empty if you do not support them with actions, like my realm does. Second line's 'admirable people' is me trying to make a Kaliza reference, because I am a fan lmao. I had thought Kaliza and Amara would disagree in how bad the practice of the tournament is given their personalities, though I must invite you to correct me if I was wrong ofc 🫡

High Mage Amara: Your son seems so unhappy. Mirror Amara: I am aware of the pressure of his duties. If it were in my power, he wouldn’t have to feel any of it, but it’s better this way. Once peace reigns in all realms, Rain will live with no worries. He will never lose anything to warmongers. High Mage Amara: sighs. How is even your love so twisted?

Mirror Amara: It’s a shame you can’t see what must be done, but I shouldn’t be surprised given that you have challenged even your realm’s own authority. High Mage Amara: My friends and a new generation of admirable Umgadi have shown me rules are to be broken if they prevent good from being done. What’s a shame is that you can’t learn from them too. Mirror Amara: I have nothing to learn from Outworlders or Earthrealmers.

Also, since it's Christmas time and I felt like writing more silly/happy stuff, I added two extra interactions! One is a scene I imagined could happen between your Amara and Amaya after she met Mirror Amara:

Amaya: You can’t hide how you have felt since you visited that backwards timeline. Not from me, not from Li Mei, not from Kaliza. And as long as that worries us, we are going to keep searching for an answer. High Mage Amara: doubts but finally decides to be sincere. That Edenia, their way of thinking, my counterpart. I… can’t deny that, for all our differences, some aspects of us remain in them… I have wondered if they are what we could become if… Amaya: Amara. You may as well use them as a cautionary tale, as what you shouldn’t become. But you should also keep in mind. puts a supporting hand on her shoulder. You are nothing like them. You are our friend, and we are here to help you.

And second is just a joke interaction I had thought between Amaya and Mirror Harumi. Just because Amaya was in my mind thanks to the last one lol:

Khameleon didn't make it to the main team, that's true, and that's mostly because due to the different uniforms, I always felt they meant Khamy ranks lower than Tanya so it makes more sense to me for them to be on different teams with Khamy starting later!

But worry not, she's still an Umgadi and I've been cooking something up for her!👀

Starting with some interesting intro dialogues!

Syzoth: There are Zaterran Umgadi?

Tanya: Of course. You've not met Khameleon?

Takeda: I met a Zaterran Umgadi. Khameleon is her name?

Syzoth: She is not Zaterran. She is Saurian.

These always made me curious, what is the difference between Zaterrans and Saurians after all? Are they similar species that get confused? They don't seem all that similar.

My previous headcanon was that Saurians are just Zaterrans that don't have a reptilian form and aren't considered true Zaterrans. But how about something bolder?

What if Saurians are half Edenians and as such, they are eligible to train to become Umgadi? That's the logic I'm going for with Kaliza (my half Tarkatan) and Suchin (who I made Chaosrealmer/Edenian/Thai)

Again, Khamy doesn't get to join the main team, but I'll do her one better and give her her own team!

This one will be more focused on magic wielders and led by the High Mage herself, Amara:

So far I only have one teammate candidate,

Maree, an orphaned Edenian from Jade’s Desert that used to hang out with the Northern Edenians until she mysteriously disappeared (aka, was captured, experimented on and turned into the uncontrollable Blood Mage that preys on Zaterrans known as Skarlet)

Amara will help Skarlet keep her Blood Magik under control and help Khamy improve her mimic powers!
