2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

SOULMATES. Soulmates, soulmates, soulmates. And Fake Dating. But also, SOULMATES. Of course, I've recently received some amazing giftfics with both, but I will never get enough. I do have a plan for a Queliot soulmate/soulmark-ish fic — because, like John Mulaney gifs, there is a bunny for everything — but who knows when that one will actually happen.

20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.

Silence. I really miss the days when I was able to put together a playlist for a project and actually listen while I wrote, but part of my whole "growth as a writer" process apparently included needing absolute quiet. The most I can get away with is a fan. So yep. Quiet, preferably a half-horizontal position (sitting up in bed is a fave) since sitting at a desk to write feels too much like work, something cold and flavored to drink. That's about it. I'm particular, but not super difficult.

2. What is your favorite snippet of dialogue?

Oh gosh, I have way too much fic to choose from. Who lets me be this wordy. Hm. HMM. Okay, I’ll just open the most recent work from my ao3, that’ll do.

"We missed you during dinner," Eliot said, turning with his own tumbler to stare out through the windows. "Well. Janet and I missed you. I don't know if Julia did. She mostly just stirred around some salad leaves, drank some water, and then shuffled closer to the fire. Janet thinks she was trying to photosynthesize."

"What would you do there?" Quentin asks, because he always likes to be supportive of his friends' hopes and dreams, even if privately he's skeptical.

"Might try and find Middle-Earth," Josh says, flopping down on his nest of blankets. "If Fillory is real, why not Middle-Earth too?"

"What would you even do there?" Penny rolls his eyes at Josh. "Fuck an elf?"

Josh's face lights up. "I mean, yeah. Fuck yeah. And maybe a hobbit, I bet they're pretty freaky in the sheets." His eyes go vacant behind the thick lenses of his glasses. "Imagine that hairy footjob."

"With your luck," Kady says, wandering down the stairs barefoot to join them; she's dressed in a long white button-up and nothing else, elegantly displaying her long legs to their best advantage, "you'd end up stuck in teletubbies land."

"Bet he'd try and fuck one of those too," Penny says, offering the pizza box to Kady. She leans over and kisses him wetly on the cheek before sliding a piece out and leaning against the counter.

"I would not fuck a teletubby," Josh loudly protests.

"What's going on?" Julia asks, her head peering over the balustrade. Her hair looks mussed and her shirt and shorts look disheveled too. Quentin doesn't need to guess what they've been up to. It's hard to remember that Julia, Penny, and Kady have been together for ten years when they still act like they're in their honeymoon period.

"Josh wants to fuck a teletubby," Kady says, and waves the pizza at Julia in invitation. Julia's face lights up as she hurries to the stairs.

"I said hobbit," Josh says. "I want to fuck a hobbit."

"Yeah," Julia says wryly, "that's so much better, Hoberman."

8.  How often do people catch onto your little details?

Irritatingly, there’s usually at least one person who does hahahahaha.  ....I am kidding around (mostly) with the use of the word irritatingly, because whenever I try superhard and think I’m being SO SNEAKY and embed a potential villain for a sequel in mah long superhero fics, someone somehow always figures me out GODDAMMIT. The one I am most irritated by was PeaceLily somehow catching the Red Skull hidden SUPER briefly in Where Our Restless Monsters Sleep. AHHHHH. I thought I was being so clever. SIGH.

But for the most part, I have a habit of deliberately shoving in easter egg comic references, or book references, and so it’s really charming when people pick up on them. I think my favourite pops up in I (created from fantasies) exist solely for you and whenever anyone catches it, I cackle. (Don Blake’s office extension is 8467. Which on an alphanumberic phone keyboard spells THOR.) 

I do have people who regularly pick up on my joke little details and easter eggs, and I really appreciate it. And it does, terribly, encourage me to keep doing it. It amuses me during the writing process. I’m sure for pro fiction I’d be encouraged to take them out but this is fanfic, so suck it.
