weedkend 4
trying to put together a jazz show over here but getting distracted by mix cds of YORE including this absolute historical gem of all gems - weedkend 4. the cool thing about mix cds is the process it takes in order to make it sound smooth and seamless. placing the tracks you want to share next to each other in an audibly pleasing way is some of the most exciting parts about the creation of the mix cd. another exciting part is sharing these sick-ass jams you've collected with another sick-ass jams enthusiast. weedkend has a theme and it's important for it to start really, really strong. no easing in to it willy-nilly - weedkends are meant to mindblow immediately it's just part of the rules. puts a little bit of pressure on the weedkend curator, but the best kind of pressure.
i didn't make this weedkend, however. i make all the odd ones. this was another karlie creation. karlie has always had a really good knack for putting tracks next together in an audibly pleasing, thoughtful, and philosophical way. each song is put next to another in hopes of glimpsing the larger picture. it's a journey, you know. she put a lot of thought in to her weedkends and this 4 is a glaring example of that. mostly the best part of weedkend is seeing the other participant's reaction to a really good one. that and the phish food.
