tw yandere tendencies, obsessive and possessive behavior, financial abuse, toxic relationships 

conniving, cruel, obsessive, and possessive. he’s so good at changing faces that it’s hard to tell which one is real (until it isn’t. until you know exactly what lies beneath his charming facade. and then you’ll come to regret ever being even slightly curious)

he’s so sweet at first. so loving. maybe a tiny bit over-protective but that’s just part of what makes oikawa, oikawa. it’s part of his charm. 

until it isn't.

until it’s less charming and more suffocating. until you can’t go anywhere without him needing to know exactly where it is you’re going, who it is you’re going with, and when you’ll be back. 

(eventually, you’ll realize, it’s easier to just stay in with him. going out is never worth the risk of coming back any later than you said you would.

he’s just so worried about you. he loves you so much. so, so much. you know that, don’t you?

of course i know, you say. 

it’s impossible to forget.)

the red flags start getting harder to ignore. he holds you too tight whenever you can actually convince him to go out with you. he gets a mean glint in his eye when he thinks you’ve mentioned the same friend just one too many times. he just doesn’t seem to like the fact that any part of you exists outside of his shadow. 

with oikawa, you’ve come to realize there is such a thing as too much love. there comes a point where it's so sweet, it’s sickly. and he’s long since crossed that line. 

it all comes to a head when he asks you to quit your job and you realize how uneasy it makes you feel to even think of relying on him like that, of giving him more power over you than he already has.   

there’s something awful in the air when you tell him you think it’d be best if you two took a break. you hate that you can feel your heart in your throat, nearly choking you. it doesn’t make sense. it’s not like tooru’s ever really given you a reason to be scared of him. 

(so then why are you so terrified?)

you don’t really know what you expected his reaction to be, but it wasn’t the quiet acceptance he’d given you. you’re so relieved when he lets you pack your boxes without a fuss. you feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off your chest when you step out of his apartment. 

that is, of course, until you lose your job the next week. and the friend you were staying with while you were sorting out a more permanent place to stay abruptly kicks you out with little to no explanation, leaving you to scrounge up what meager funds you can to regroup at the closest motel you can find. 

he shows up right outside your door the next day. 

(what a strange coincidence.)

you know he’s behind this. you just know it. but you also know that you’re out of options, and so does he. 

so when he makes his offer, of mending the gap you so cruelly broke, what other choice do you have?

(when you grab his hand, you can hear a death knell tolling, echoing in your head. loud enough to make you wince.)
