mewtwo may be a distorted mirror, but they’re still a mirror. the cloned pokemon eventually grew weary of fighting, the originals got sick of it faster, but mew and mewtwo never did

they both have a very It’s My Way Or The Highway, There Is No Chance At All I Might Be Slightly Wrong About This Situation kind of attitude

the difference between them is mostly that mew’s had the time (so much time) to mature. to learn who they are, and when to back down

playing with bubbles is a lot more fun than fighting. they just have to get mewmew to realise that ❤️

… for all it was soaked in 4kids cheese, i kinda got the message of the movie. the only world mewtwo’s ever known is endless, constant battle, and humans trying to manipulate them into doing that

that’s all they think there is, that’s all they think matters

of course, they’re wrong. it was never just about fighting

(there’s a reason the nuzlocke is a set of fan rules, and not baked into the games)

… side note: mewtwo is remarkably accommodating of the humans trapped in the middle of this mess, for a legendary

they translate their mindspeech, they rant specifically about The Things Humanity Has Done To Them, they take care to wipe everyone’s memories at the end

mew, on the other hand, pretty much ignores the humans. this is not an uncommon attitude among legendaries

turns out the way you get a legendary pokemon to notice humanity is giving it an inferiority complex the size of a lesser moon of jupiter
