IT'S PITCHMAS TIME!!!

If you need a refresher of the rules or if this will be your first time participating, please check out this post for some helpful information about what is allowed/what will get you coal in your stocking, but disregard any dates mentioned please this is from 2022 and they won't be the same for this year!

November 30st is the cut off date to sign up. I will endeavor to have everyone assigned by December 2nd.

Posting will begin on December 24th - not a day before! And you have to have your gift finished and posted NO LATER than December 26th.

You don’t need money to take part - just a dash of creativity and the drive to want to do something nice.

Manips, videos, fanfic, and comics are just a few examples of the things you can do!

All pairings are welcome, but I strongly encourage all participants to ANONYMOUSLY message the person they have to ask questions about which they might prefer.

TURN ON YOUR ANONS. I’ve gotten to the point where if your ask box is not set to allow anon questions and your Secret Santa cannot contact you, I will no longer be trying to get in touch - I’ll just remove you from the exchange. So please, even if you’re sure anon asks are already allowed, double check. If you’re not sure HOW to do that, google is your friend.

If you change your name between now and the posting date, please send me a message to let me know. I will not be trying to track people down again, it is very time consuming.

Please don’t leave someone hanging. If you have no intention of doing anything and just want someone to do something for you, don’t reply. It’s not fair and you will get blacklisted from future gift exchanges. (And I’m always looking for volunteers who will write for anyone who might get missed!)

And, just as an aside, I want to thank everyone who has taken part in this exchange over the years. Ten years is a long time and it's been really awesome to see some of the same names show up for this year after year. I know that fandom can sometimes be fickle or fleeting, that's just the way of things, but to see even a handful of people still hanging around for this makes my heart happy. And a HUGE thank you to @wordsofmyreality for stepping in to take over last year and keep this thing going. ❤️💚

It has been brought to my attention that during the previous year's event promotion, AI was used to create at least some of the promotional materials. As the person that originally ran this blog and used to create the graphics for the first couple of years, I have found this information incredibly disappointing and disheartening, as I'm sure all of you have as well.

In order to rectify the situation I have taken sole possession of the blog and completely cleared it to give all of us a fresh start, and will be running Spookfest myself this year.

I'm going to state this here and clearly so that everyone knows where I stand on this situation and what the Spookfest potential future team's stance is:

This is a gen-AI free space. There is no room for gen-AI in creative spaces. We do not condone theft of artwork by or the astronomically detrimental environmental impact of AI. No further posts, works or submissions will contain AI as far as can be controlled, and if we are made aware of the use of AI in anything that may be shared by us, it will be immediately removed.

That out of the way, there will be a Spookfest 2026, and I really hope that you'll join me in October to celebrate the spooky season with fabulous creations of your own. I am committed to making this year the best Spookfest yet!!!

Summary: On the set of her new film, Aubrey starts receiving gifts for the 12 days of Christmas from a secret admirer.

A/N: Hey, hey, Merry Pitchmas @wordsofmyreality! You threw me a biiiiit of a curveball wanting something Aubrey-centric, but it was a good challenge and I had a lot of fun writing this. I really hope you like it! Merry Pitchmas!

It's not that Aubrey doesn't enjoy Christmas movies, she does. There's something about the fake snow and fairy lights that makes her feel warm and fuzzy inside. It's just that, in the past, the festive films were usually shot in a studio over the Summer months in order to get it out in time for Christmas. She's got two under her belt now, both made with different companies, but this one - a Barden Studios production - is vastly different to those that have come before it. 

For one, it's a musical. Which Aubrey loves but it brings its own set of problems. For two, they're shooting on location. And thirdly, it's currently the middle of December. Fake snow is nothing like the real thing. It's cold and wet, and sinks into everything. The dry weather is chapping her skin and the tip of her nose is consistently a rosy shade of pink.
