It gives me great honor on behalf of the team at Ordrb to announce our new brand name, baskt. We are still as passionate about helping mission-driven businesses connect with their communities and we look forward to keeping in you informed as we start to grow.Ā Ā As we were very proud of ordrb we felt it was missing something. We want to bring back the days of nostalgia where you know your local shop owners by name and are more than just a consumer, you are a community. We feel Baskt conveys this message.
Why did we switch to baskt? We're bringing back the days of nostalgia when you knew your butcher by name and you were more than just a consumer, you were a community. Baskt related more to the curated aspect of our mission. When you shop with it, given you don't have a car, you are more thoughtful of what you buy.
Just as we become more aware of the products we buy and the businesses we support, the team and I look forward to helping foster better transparency whilst providing a frictionless shopping experience on your mobile phone. Ā
My sister is an Urban Farmer in Los Angeles so she raises chickens in the backyard, grows organic produce and has 4 beehives to make raw honey. She sells her products to her friends and co-op but is challenged when it comes to reaching people outside her inner circle. So her husband took it upon himself to list their company āIndustrious Folksā on a website with information about the products they sold.
One day a woman walked up to their porch and knocked on the front door asking if they had any honey to sell. Unfortunately they didnāt have any in stock but the visit was quite alarming. As she didnāt know how the woman found out about their honey until her husband came home later that day.
For me I saw a problem ā even one Iām faced with everyday, there is simply no way to see if a product I wanted was in stock and ready for pick-up around me. That is why millions of people shop on Amazon because you know its available and with the possibility to have it delivered next day for an extra fee.
But the even bigger challenge was how do I give mission-driven merchants (like my sister) who are passionate about something the tools to connect with their mission-driven communities. How do we give her the same experience we get when shopping on Amazon?
