I’m a genius... and like other geniuses, I do really stupid stuff. 😉 As I was driving up big cottonwood canyon yesterday here in Utah, I pulled over to pick up a hitchhiker. Cool guy, a liftee at Brighton, and a fellow snow enthusiast. ❄️ • When I dropped him off just below Silver Fork, I of course got out so I could grab a pair of free gloves for him. It’s what I do, I have a problem, I know. I had to move my giant backpack to get to the gloves, and I pulled it out and set it on the ground next to my truck. Gave him gloves, we exchanged numbers and I got my merry self back in the truck and continued my drive up to go sledding. • The genius part is I didn’t put my backpack back in my truck. I didn’t think of it until about 20 minutes later when I was already in the parking lot and had unloaded my sled. • I called the guy and he went and checked the area.... no backpack. Unfortunately my backpack had valuable stuff in it such as a backcountry radio, an avalanche beacon, probe, among other items that I use while in the backcountry while sledding. • I contacted Brighton, Solitude, and the Silver Fork lodge and gave them my number in case anyone turns it in. I even contacted the canyon patrol police and let them know, and filed a report. • So yeah, embarrassed by such a highly intelligent move as to drive away from hundreds of dollars of necessary items in my backpack, I reluctantly post this information here in hopes that the backpack, contents, and myself may one day be reunited. • It’s just stuff, I know, but I’m kicking myself in the teeth over this one. If anyone has any clues as to where I put my brain and backpack yesterday, feel free to lemme know. 😉 • This is on par with forgetting to check my oil in my sled.... love you all! #doh #geniusmove #missingbackpack #thatwasdumb #questioningmysanity #thankyou https://www.instagram.com/p/BvPEwdZnyF5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1xa8j7e0tzptg
