Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail
Prompt: Autumn
No real plot just random take on Autumn.
The temperature in Magnolia had begun to gradually drop weeks ago and Fairy Tailâs very own Celestial mage was finding the cooler weather a nice change. Lucy had always been a huge fan of summer; the warm temperatures and endless sunny days, but her favorite time of the year was autumn.
As she made her way out of her apartment, the cool breeze hit her full force. Her golden blonde locks swayed gently with the wind. She tugged on her beige colored knitted cap, securing it in place. Today was a kick back day for the blonde, which meant no missions. So instead of wearing her typical battle ready outfit she wore light blue jeans with a black belt and had on matching black boots with a simple grey sweater to top it all off. She left her hair down intentionally to wear her knitted hat to complete her fall inspired look.
She hummed as she made her way down the road, keys jingling softly against her hips. She smiled and waved at the towns people as she passed through. She had a pocket full of jewel she was just itching to spend and since her rent was paid and groceries already bought for the week, it only meant one thing: shopping.
Lucy, of course, wasnât going shopping for a Halloween costume or even more shoes to add to her giant collectionâno, she was going book shopping. Usually she would be accompanied by her favorite bookworm and best friend, Levy, but the blunette had taken a mission with her team the previous day. So with the book store as her destination she continued towards the downtown shopping center.
She was greeted by the tinkling sound of a bell as she opened the door. The shop owner gave her a warm welcoming smile and hello that she happily returned before setting off on her own mini adventure. She had spent a good hour weaving through the aisles before narrowing her decision down to two. Instead of choosing one, she bought both. Happy with her purchase, she left the little shop and decided to take the long way back to her apartment.
Lucy was about half way home when an unwavering smell of cinnamon spices and pumpkin hit her nose. She continued down the road until she came face to face with a new coffee shop that had recently opened. Out of curiosity and her love for caffeine, Lucy ventured inside.
The mouthwatering scent she had first smelled overwhelmed her when she walked through the threshold. It was a small cafĂŠ that had maybe a handful of tables inside and the rest were outside. Since it was October, it was no surprise that the shop had decorated accordingly. Fake spider webs and adorable jack-o-lanterns could be spotted throughout. The counter space was small but that was mainly due to the big glass display case that housed pastries of all kinds. Lucy unconsciously licked her lips at the sight and her stomach involuntarily growled. When was the last time she had a lemon cake or a blueberry scone? So without a second thought she made her way over to the counter.
Lucy hummed and tapped her finger on her chin, her other hand holding her books as she read the menu.
âHi! Welcome to Sweet Serenity! My name is Annabelle, what can I get started for you today?â A young girl chirped popping up from behind the counter like a jack in the box.
Lucy let out a small shriek as she jumped back, not expecting a person to literally come out of nowhere. The small girl looked around Wendyâs age with shoulder length brown hair and green eyes. She had cat ears on top of her head and painted on whiskers on each side of her face.
âOh! Iâm sorry! I didnât mean to scare you!â She yelled as she threw her arms up and profusely apologized then began ramble on about how she was just looking for the flour in the cabinet.
Lucy chuckled at the girl, the kid was adorable.
âNo, no. Itâs fine, really.â Lucy said with a smile gracing her lips.
Annabelle visibly brightened, âSo what would ya like today maâam?â
âHmm, can I get a tall pumpkin spice latte, a pumpkin scone annnnd two toffeedoodle cookies?â Lucy asked.
âOf course! Thatâll be 850 jewels.â
After Lucy had paid and received her goodies she thanked the young girl and headed outside. She slowly sipped on her coffee and hummed at the delicious taste. Instead of heading back home she walked to a nearby park that was a street down. Finding an empty bench the blonde made herself comfortable as she began to eat her treats. The mix of pumpkin, cinnamon, and everything else was absolutely divine.
She sat on the bench for a while as she watched the leaves on the trees continuously fall. The oranges, yellows, and reds co-mingling together whirling around. She sighed in content. The crisp air along with her scrumptious pumpkin flavored coffee and the beautiful colors of the trees, it was a perfect autumn day.
Ehh, totally spaced and forgot about the prompts starting sooooo ta-da? Maybe next one will be better. Itâs still the 25th here! Just sayin!
