I donât want to reblog that wall of text again, but @mirajani I never called anyone a teenager. Â I said that people who attack fangirls, in general as a group, assume we are all rabid teenagers (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with being a teen girl ofc) and assume that there is NO OTHER MOTIVE behind queer shipping (letâs be honest no one attacks het shippers with the same vitrol) other than an attraction to one or both of the characters/people involved.
I am 34, also no longer a teenager. Â But you know what I shipped as a teenager? Â Mulder and Scully. Â Spike and Buffy. Â I shipped het ships and NO ONE cared or gave me shit for it. Â And hey, I do have a huge crush on both Mulder and Scully, but it WASNâT why I shipped them.
That being said, there is actually nothing wrong with shipping two men because you find them attractive. Â Plenty of people do that for various reasons. Â In some cases it is fetishization in the same way that straight men getting off to lesbians is. Â However, itâs a less aggressive form of festishization as women still hold little to no social power and are not oppressing gay men by fantasizing about them. Â So no, Iâm not attacking anyone who ships for those reasons.
Fact remains, every survey done specifically of the BBC Sherlock Johnlock fandom shows 1) we are older 2) and queerer 3) and less attracted to the cast than previously assumed.  Thatâs what my comment was refering to.  The assumption versus reality of your âaverage johnlockerâ.

I had someone hate one of my fics because I depicted a character they liked in a way they didn't. I told them to go write their own. There are always trolls in any fandom. When you see this, just think "wanker" and move on. It's not you, it's them.
I know that. It still gets really old. Itâs just not necessary to treat people who are already donating their time this way, and I have the right to decide not to subject myself to it any more. I could very easily just concentrate on my novel and writing for financial reward if volunteering my work is going to mean I have to take this sort of harassment and bullying. I donât need that in my leisure space. Life is already full of that. I am not obligated to just suck it up and deal with it, you know? No one is.Â
