A formerly invisible body flickers into view as Susan deftly steps to the side to avoid the person coming in her direction. “—Sorry. Growing pains. It’s a work in progress.” 

“No, really. Repeat that.”

“Wait, people actually come on this website for fun? What’s the point?”

“Your eyes are doing that glazed over thing people get when they’re not paying attention. Don’t worry about it — it’s fine. I’d also forget to pretend to be interested.”

“No, no— I was not listening to your conversation. I was eating.” Adam placed a chip into his mouth and bit down with a crunch, jumping in surprise before practically shouting his next words. “Why is this food so loud? Your planet is so strange!”

“turns out that it ain’t so bad here.” it felt strange to be on earth again. rocket was seeing everything with fresh eyes, and there was a bit less rage tinging everything his senses soaked in. this planet might not feel like home but he knew now that this was where he came from. the metal bars of his captors weren’t the first thing his paws touched, the stale air of the high evolutionary’s facility wasn’t what filled his lungs when he took his first breath. earth had been a part of him the entire time, and even while it was bittersweet he was glad for it. he was happy to be here with his new team, even under the circumstances. “we heard you guys might need some help— and that’s kinda what we do best.”
