ibuki is someone who is VERY performative, i think part of this is just the fact that she's proud of the image she's formulated for herself, but i think a lot of it is a response to the likely rejection she's faced in the past. she's putting up this persona, and while it's still VERY much who ibuki is, it's also an act of spite. i think she doesn't wanna deal with rejection or judgement again, so she puts up her image to scare off anyone who's unwilling to deal with that. but she also deeply craves social connection, so her options with a lot of class 77 end up being "stay distant" or "just put up with the way she weirds them out." i think she's accepted the fact most people won't really want to get close to her. akane however literally would not care. at all. she's also very high energy and she could keep up with ibuki easily, and she doesn't seem the type to gaf if ibuki is a little cringe.

AKANE ON THE OTHER END!!!! she is a MESS emotionally even though she's super good at not dealing with that and shoving it down. she's got this mentality that she literally cannot depend on anyone or show weakness bc no one will help her (eg. her line about no one helping if you screams that there's no food or medicine). that people will immediately turn on her and start hurting her if she's weak. the only stable relationship she's ever had was with her siblings, who were completely dependent on her.

class 77 also has a habit of constantly talking about how stupid she is, and while some of it is def exaggerated, like her gullibility (which makes NO SENSE for her character to have) some of it is very reasonable for her to not know?? there were no adults in her life willing to provide her with the basic things you need to live unless she let them take advantage of her. in what world is she getting a good education. this can't be good for her self esteem!! i think ibuki, being super affectionate, could help her get rid of the idea no one will ever be there for her, and also not treat her like she's stupid and a bother to deal with!!

they've got matching themes of acting in accordance to deal with perceived rejection/abuse that hasn't happened yet, and also being treated as annoying/weird/stupid by their classmates, which could rlly help them bond i think!! also akane never got to hear ibuki's music. she might actually like it!!
