Wayne Rooney says Ravel Morrison was miles better than Paul Pogba, in an exclusive with The Sunday Times. Writing in his regular column for the newspaper, Rooney reflected on Morrison’s eye-catching displays in first-team training with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men. The club legend wrote: “I remember watching Ravel Morrison thinking he had everything required for a player in his position. He nutmegged Nemanja Vidic three times in the space of a minute in one training game.” However, Rooney added that “he struggled with lifestyle and his environment which was sad for him — because I saw Paul Pogba come through, Jesse Lingard, all these players and Ravel was better than any of them by a country mile.” Morrison played together with Pogba and Jesse Lingard in the Manchester United academy at the start of their professional careers, but he struggled to earn a place in the Red Devils senior squad, and finally left Old Trafford for Premier League side West Ham United. The 27-year-old has played for a number of sides all across Europe, most recently linking up with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United from Ostersunds FK on a free transfer last summer. Unfortunately, he failed to break into the starting line-up and joined Championship side Middlesbroughon loan in January. In comparison, Lingard has won the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time with United, although it appears he will now leave the Theatre of Dreams in the summer. Meanwhile, Paul Pogba has been subject to frequent transfer speculation, whipped up by the actions of his agent Mino Raiola, and it remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be able to keep a hold of the Frenchman before the start of next season. Naturally, many United fans took to Twitter to share their views on Rooney’s opinion, with one fan tweeting “Fergie failed”, while another said that Morrison was “different gravy.” Have a read through some of the mixed reactions down below… Jokeman😂 — SK 🔰☔️ (@Samzy336) May 3, 2020 Being good at the academy level doesn’t mean you will be good at the pro level. Some Red Devils fans have ripped into Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola following chief football writer Samuel Luckhurst’s update on the Frenchman’s transfer saga. Writing in the Manchester Evening News, Luckhurst suggested United might well have the last laugh. The journalist noted “Fernandes’ form is galling for Raiola and last week’s story about Pogba being open to a new United contract also smacked of fear of becoming forgotten.” “United have not missed Pogba throughout his prolonged absence and he has only hit world-class heights since the 2018 World Cup when the tap was turned back on at the start of Solskjaer’s caretaker reign. It was turned off as soon as Zidane returned to Madrid.” United have called Mino Raiola's bluff and suddenly reasons are stacking up for Paul Pogba to stay #mufc https://t.co/BFDX6AHlZ6 — Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) March 18, 2020 January signing Bruno Fernandes has turned out to be the bargain of the transfer window, netting 2 goals and providing 3 assists in just 5 appearances in the Premier League, as well as a goal and an assist in the Europa League (Transfermarkt). On the other hand Pogba is still nursing his way back from ankle injury and has only managed to play in 7 games in the English top flight all season (Transfermarkt). Mino Raiola has gained an infamous reputation for moving his talent stable from club to club, and has clashed with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on multiple occasions. Pogba’s future at Old Trafford has been the subject of great scrutiny over recent years although reports recently emerged the French World Cup winner intends to stay and sign a new contract extension. It seems like the transfer debacle has frustrated a large portion of the United faithful as several supporters lashed out at Pogba and Raiola on social media. One fan remarked the “sooner the better the toxic duo leave.” Take a peek at some of the angriest reactions online… If Pogba stays he can extend his contract with no pay rise. He's injury prone and as we've seen expendable. Utd should hold the cards now — Don (@DonnyDunn) March 18, 2020 We don’t care about pogba or raiola. — Abdulaziz Saoud (@black_911) March 18, 2020 Get rid — Mike Hulley (@mgh0406) March 18, 2020 It amazes me how everyone has just forgotten last summer when Pogba very outspokenly declared in an interview that its time he started a new challenge. And that’s not to mention half a dozen times his brother and agents have said the same. Sooner the better the toxic duo leave. — FPL Steve-inho (@FPL_Steve_) March 18, 2020 Don’t care if Pogba stays or goes as long as it really hurts Raiola and puts him in his place. Manchester United will not be armtwisted. — Gibsons Inc. (@GibsonsInc) March 18, 2020 It would be very unjust to the curent united midfielders…they have been amazing and shown us of things to come….his highness the french king should just move — Thiagosilva_chire (@Thiagosilvachi2) March 18, 2020 United fans, are you fed up with Paul Pogba and Mino Raiola’s actions?
