Here’s my GORGEOUS best friend. This woman has been with me through thick and thin and encouraged me every time I was on the brink of giving up over the years. First to cheer me on and first to call me on my bullshit. Love her. . . . So, at the beginning of the year Janet joined Weight Watchers and as of last Saturday has made her goal: losing 50 pounds. As you can imagine her clothes from last Fall/Winter are now too big. She had held onto this stripped top from over a decade ago for sentimental reasons—worn on a New Years trip to Paris and later that January on her first date with her now husband. She doesn’t think she’s worn it since then. . . . When i visited her in Minneapolis last month we purged her closet and made a list of new things to buy to update her wardrobe. Poor thing was running out of things to wear. She pulled out that top and proudly declared: “I haven’t worn this in years! I’m so glad I kept it!” Janet also loves a flared trouser. They’re her favorite. So while shopping with her (at a fab consignment shop) I pulled those red pants for her to try on. She came out of the dressing room in love with the pants. Always the practical one of us, “I mean, I want them but seriously, what do I own to wear with them.” Me: “that black and white stripped top in your closet!” J: “Done. I’m buying them.” They were a little long so she had the slacks hemmed and the results are FABULOUS IMHO. . . . That day Janet walked away with a nearly complete refreshed wardrobe and spent only $150 by shopping at a consignment shop. We had the best time! Pictures will eventually follow of all of the outfits we put together that weekend. . . .
