Shop Help
So here is the second fanfic of the Christmas set! Hope you guys enjoy!!
Reader x Simon
Description: Y/N is working a late night shift when a young man (Simon) asks for their help finding a gift for his mum.
Warnings: Some Cussing. Fluff.
"Hey Y/N! I'm heading home. You good to lock up when that last costumer leaves?" I looked up from the magazine I was reading to see my co-worker Jenny standing in front of me.
"Yeah. I'm good. Go ahead and go home. You should be spending Christmas Eve with your daughter, not at work. Merry Christmas and see you Sunday."
"Merry Christmas." She smiled at me and turned to leave. I looked around to see how many customers were left in the shop. I couldn't see any, but I could hear one in the back. Fed up and desperately wanting to go home, I decided to approach them.
"Excuse me, sir, but the store did close 15 minutes ago. And I would really like to get home to my family." I technically wasn't supposed to speak like that to a costumer, but at that point I just couldn't care less.
"Oh. God. Yeah. I'm really sorry. I just had to pick up a last minute present and I have no idea what to choose." He turned to face me and I immediately softened. He was a handsome young man. Tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, and an amazing smile.
"Well maybe I can help. Who are you shopping for? Your girlfriend?" I asked.
"My mum actually. I don’t have a girlfriend."
"Yes!" I thought to myself, trying not to express too much excitement at his words.
"Okay. So you need something for your mom. Are these what you are trying to decide between?" I said, gesturing to the two scarves in the young man's hands.
"Uh. Yeah. What do you think? Too much?" He said, holding up a scarf with a sparkly cheetah print.
"Yeah... I'd say that's a little much for your mother. How about something a little less... cheetah." I started towards the jewelry counter, motioning for him to follow me.
"Okay. So I was thinking something more like this," I said, holding up a silver, diamond necklace.
"It-it's perfect. Thank you Y/N."
"How did you know my name?" I asked him, puzzled. He laughed and pointed at my chest.
"You're wearing a nametag."
"Oh. Right." I said, feeling extremely stupid.
"I'm Simon."
"It's nice to meet you, Simon." I said, making my way to the register to ring up the necklace.
"So, Simon, what are your plans for tomorrow?"
"Well I'm heading over to my parents’ house for a little while to see them and my brothers. Then, I'm going to go back home and hang out with my roommates and some other people. What about you?"
"Um. Probably gunna watch some Netflix. Play some video games. Maybe cook up a frozen pizza."
"What? You're spending Christmas alone?"
"Oh god no! I'm spending it with Furnando."
"Furnando? Your boyfriend?"
"My cat, actually. He is great company." Saying it out loud, I realized how truly lame I sounded.
"Well. If Furnando ends up being less fun than you thought he would be, you could always come hang out with me and my mates. Pretty girls are always welcome."
"Oh shit. He just called me pretty! Holy shit!" I thought, trying to think of something to say.
"I'll think about it." I said, trying not to seem TOO eager and to just play it cool. Truth is, I had really been down about spending Christmas on my own and his offer made me really happy.
"Good. See you there, Y/N." He grabbed a pen from the counter and flipped over his receipt. On the back, he wrote his number and address before handing it back to me.
"I didn't say I was going!"
"You didn't have to." He went to leave, but turned back to me. "Oh. And thank you again. I'm sure she'll love it." He gave me a cheeky smile and headed out the door. Once he left, I looked at the clock on my phone. 10:54. It was almost an hour after the store was supposed to have officially closed. Exhausted and more than a little giddy, I cleaned up the shop a bit, counted the cash register, turned off the lights, and locked everything up. I leaned up against the doors, smiling to myself.
As I walked up to the door of Simon's big, beautiful house, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I knocked on the door and waited anxiously.
"Maybe I should go back. This is a bad idea I should just get in my car and drive home. They'll never even know I was here in the first place!"
I was just about to turn and sprint to the safety if my car when the door opened and I was met with two beautiful blue eyes. "Y/N! I'm glad you made it."
"Like you even gave me a choice!" I laughed slightly and awkwardly gave him a small push.
"Come on in and meet the guys!"
I walked in and we did all of the introductions. After I had officially met Tobi, Ethan, Josh, JJ, and Cal(freezy), we all sat down and played some FIFA. I won against Ethan, Tobi, and JJ, but lost against Josh and Cal. It came down to the final match to decide the winner: Me vs Simon. As we chose our teams and kits and got ready to start, I felt my nerves creeping up on me. Simon looked over to me, a smirk on his face.
"Ready?"
"Bring it."
He started the game and it was quiet. About 30 minutes in he managed to score. 1-0. Less than a minute later I scored on him. 1-1. Half time came and went and we were still tied. By this point, everyone watching was cheering for me. It seemed that we were gunna have to go in to overtime, but in the 90th minute, Simon fucked up.
"Shit. Shit. How is that a penalty! Ref!" I glanced over at Simon.
"Man he is really into this!" I thought, taking a minute to focus on what I was doing. I took the shot and made it! Just a few seconds later, the ref blew his whistle.
"Well I guess you were a worthy opponent, Y/N."
"You guess?"
"Okay. I'll admit it. You were pretty good. For a girl."
"Oh Shut up, Simon!" He moved closer to me.
"Make me." I could feel his breath blowing gently on my face as he said it. Without even thinking, I had closed the gap between us and pressed my lips against his. I quickly pulled away, surprised by my own actions.
"S-sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
"I'm glad you did."
Our awkward silence was disturbed by the sound of Ethan’s voice:
"Oi. You two. Stop making out and get over here. We are about to do the White Elephant game."
Simon grabbed my hand and led me over to the living room. By the time every present had been picked, opened, and properly ridiculed, it was about 1 AM and I desperately had to go home and get some sleep before my shift the next day. I said my goodbyes and Simon offered to walk me to my car. We stood there a few minutes just talking before I finally decided that I REALLY had to go.
"So. Better than spending the Christmas night with 'Furnando'?"
"Most definitely."
He leaned over and pecked my cheek.
"Merry Christmas, Y/N."
"Merry Christmas, Simon"
