Those who made sacrifices were called jŏ sonnaw (fetish waterers), in Bambara or féticheurs in French. Even the Muslims and Christians were known to sacrifice chickens every now and then, wear protective amulets, use special potions and salves, or participate in various dances, funerals, and celebrations throughout the year. Everyone coexisted peacefully, for they were Minianka people first and foremost.
