today was my first time ever in a mini pipe! and only second time fuckin w banked surfaces. McKinley skate park is essentially abandoned, the concrete is warped and cracked, making this pipe pretty much the only usable piece of equipment. My dad took me & @patbellart here once when we were in elementary school… It was my first and really only time ever at a skate park. I was on inline skates then and I remember being intimated by the other people there (all men/male-presenting), feeling scared, and not having a clue how to approach anything. I’ve wanted to skate in some capacity my whole life but I’ve always been too scared. Today i just wanted to go back to see this spot. 🌠 the vid looks like nothing- i have zero understanding yet of how to pump for momentum lmao, but i was just trying to pretend it felt even remotely natural 😂 also starting to realize how strange my skates are– i mounted the plates slightly forward to make for increased speed, and my wheels are relatively small (52mm) and very hard (99). looking forward to getting @impalarollerskates with softer bigger wheels soon… 💚 i’m thinking of making a tumblr just to track skating progress because i just started. Can’t wait to see where I am a year from now. Would u follow/do u use that shid? Also wishing i had some bold friends to sk8 with 😚 🌳 I would like to be comfortable dropping in to a little pipe by the end of this year…. And I would like to be able to do 180s on a pipe next year! It’s fun to have reasonable goals that are also terrifying/currently unfathomable
