Prom Date
Character:Â Minho
Word count:Â 1,043
Request:Â Can I please have an imagine where it's an Au and Minho asks me too homecoming. And he uses the other gladers for help?
A/N: I changed up the request a tad and made it prom instead. I hope you enjoy it!
Your morning started off as a mess. You almost crashed into Thomasâs car if it wasn't for your keen eyesight.
âThomas, you slinthead! What the shuck are you doing?!â you stuck your head out of the car and hissed at him, fuming.
He greeted you with a goofy smile, as if heâd almost planned it.
âSorry, Y/N! Iâd hate to make you late for class,â Thomas said, winking.
At that moment, someone jerked Thomasâs head back inside the car and you realised that Newt was in the passengersâ side, scolding Thomas.
You parked beside them, and as you stepped outside you heard Newt faintly say, âWe needed to slow her down, not bloody kill her!â
Your head whipped back around to see Newt give Thomas a light slap on the forehead.
 âWeird.â

When you finished retrieving your books and supplies for period one, you took a quick glance around the corridor to see if you could find Minho around. No luck. Sighing, you closed your locker and began walking to your class. Minho had been ignoring your texts and calls since Monday. It wouldnât bother you as much during a normal week, but Monday happened to be the day that your schoolâs prom tickets went on sale. Minho was just your friend, but a tiny part of you had hoped that he would ask you to prom. Fortunately, this was the class in which you shared with him.
You sat down in your seat, making sure to sit at a table next to the one Minho always did. The seat was still empty, however. Biting your lip, you watched as other students poured in upon hearing the bell ring. Winston, Ben, Teresa, Gally⊠all of your friends, but Minho was absent. You furrowed your eyebrows in annoyance as Winston took Minhoâs seat. I guess I really wonât have a date for prom, you thought to yourself. Mid-way through class, you noticed a note being passed around between Teresa and Ben. They passed the note stealthily to Gally, who then passed it to Winston when the teacher was turned around. You tried to ignore them, but to your surprise, Winston placed the note on your desk. You sat there in awe, a strange sense of curiosity creeping over you. The note was written in black pen, neatly, and read:
Library. Today, after school. Iâll be waiting.
â Minho

The day seemed to drag on longer, and there was still no sign of Minho around. During lunch, you tried to go to the library and see if he was there, but Siggy and Alby prevented you from doing so. This sudden alliance of secrecy formed against you made you even more curious, and you were ecstatic when your last class of the day ended. You bolted out of class to put away your books. Finally, you could see what the âlibraryâ was all about. You headed down the hallway, your heart pounding in your chest as the entrance to the library came into view. Another look around revealed that Siggy and Alby were no longer preventing you from entering. You lifted your arm and placed your hand on the handle, pushing it down and stepping foot into the library.
What you saw was unexpected. Sonya and Harriet sat at the table closest to the entrance, but no one else, besides the librarian. A wave of despair washed over you, and you let out the breath youâd been holding.
 âShuck it,â you breathed.
As you turned back around to leave, Sonya walked to you and handed you a pale pink envelope. She left immediately with Harriet, and you leaned against the wall, opening the envelope.
Okay, I lied a little. I'm waiting for you at the football grounds. Listen to this on the way.
â Minho
You looked back inside the envelope and pulled out a blue iPod shuffle, Minhoâs one, the one he would always listen to while running. You put the earphones in and hit âplayâ.
âI'm rushing in a small town,
I forgot to call you,
Running low on know how
This beats made for two.
Causeâ I remember that I like youâŠâ
The refreshing sound of a new melody filled your ears, and you began to walk to the football grounds. You listened intently to the lyrics, smiling along the way. When you reached the exit, you realised there was music playing outside as well â the same song. Holding your breath once again, you pushed the door open and stepped outside. The first thing you saw was Minho standing in the middle of the field, alone. He noticed you as well, and you began to approach him, the music blaring in the background.
âItâs just you and I tonight,
Why donât you figure my heart out?
Itâs just you and I tonight,
Why donât you figure my heart out?â
When you approached, Minho held out a bouquet created with an assortment of colourful flowers.
âIâm sorry Iâve been ignoring you for the past week,â he started, âBut Iâve been planning this for a while now. Y/N, will you come to prom with me?â
You looked down at the bouquet, and in it were two tickets to the event. Your face flushed a new shade of red. Never in your years of friendship with Minho had he done something so sweet.
You couldnât help but let out a small laugh, but then you bit your lip and smiled at him, âOf course I will! Iâve been waiting for this the whole week.â
Minhoâs eyes lit up and he beamed with joy, pulling you in for a hug and then twirling you around. Thatâs when you realised that everyone â Gally, Thomas, Newt, Alby, Teresa, Harriet, Ben, Sonya, Siggy and Winston â was watching from the bleachers. You felt your cheeks turn hot from embarrassment.
âOur friends are here?!â you said, watching the others salutes and rejoices.
âOhâ Right! I forgot to tell you, they all helped me arrange this!â Minho chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his neck.
A feeling of joy burst from within; Minho had gone through so much trouble just to ask you out for prom? It was amusing, but undeniably adorable.
âAw, Minho, I have the best date ever!â you sighed, pecking him on the cheek.
