Vee's End Update Pt. 5 - Scalemail Armor (pt. 2/3 of the Scale Saga)

Scalemail is a new armor set made with Dragon Scales, a new ore for the End i talked about here. To craft it, you first need to find a Scalemail Upgrade template, found rarely in either End Cities or... another structure we'll talk about someday ;). This Smithing Template can then be duplicated with 1 Obsidian and 7 Dragon Scales, instead of Diamonds.

Unlike Netherite, which is an upgrade of Diamond Armor, Scalemail is upgraded from a base of Chainmail Armor, taking a Dragon Scale instead of a Netherite Ingot. This both helps to set Scalemail apart from the other upgradeable gear set, and give an extra reward for finding this rare treasure Armor Set, and giving these four forgotten items a new use!

Scalemail Armor is, however, not Netherite, just as Chainmail is not Diamond. After the upgrade, Scalemail is put on par of the stats of Diamond Armor, but trading out diamond's Armor Toughness stat for a slight bit of magic resistance, lessening the damage from potions, dragon's breath, guardian lasers, evoker fangs, and ender pearl teleporting (which I think as of this upgrade should now be classified as magic damage instead of Fall Damage, which for some reason it is!), among other things.

Sure, Scalemail is not the end-all super-challenge gear set that Netherite is, but it is a viable endgame armor set that still has Chainmail's transparency, making it useful for showing off your skin and showing off that you've been to the End! Sure, its largely aesthetic and not the Best gear set in the game, but I'm sure this quirky little offshoot will be appreciated by those who love Chainmail's transparency and want it to be more viable <3

And who knows, there may be another use for upgrading Chainmail to Scalemail in my future plans!

⛏️ Coal: Let's not forget the unsung hero, coal. Essential for fueling furnaces, torches, and keeping our mines lit—quite literally the light in the darkness.

🔵 Lapis Lazuli: Beyond its stunning hue, Lapis Lazuli brings enchantment to our tools and offers a touch of artistic flair to our constructions.

Whether you're spelunking in deep caves or carving through mountains, the thrill of stumbling upon these ores is second to none! Each ore has its own story, adding depth and richness to the gameplay experience.

Here is the view of the deep crevasse from the bottom. I completed my staircase to the floor of the canyon so that I could mine all the coal and iron ore down here.

Some of the minerals are high up on the canyon walls, but everything is accessible when you use dirt columns. Just watch your balance!
