When I arrived at the viewpoint at #minaretsummit in #mammoth I was a little disappointed to have just missed sunset. I set up to do some long exposure blue hour pics of the minaret peaks. A few moments later, a nice and much more knowledgable photographer came up to me, he let me know there was a rocket launch going to be visible towards the south. I looked over and there was a bright orange fire trail. I spun my tripod and focused in, trying to re orient my camera settings as quickly as possible. Just as I got something I could work with, the rocket caught up with the setting sun. The light display was as dazzling as they come and this is probably my favorite image from such a memorable evening.
