One thing i got really annoyed with the netflix adaptation over was their handling of jaskier and geralt, which in turn throws everyone else's dynamics off.
Geralt has made himself into a stoic emotionless brick wall after blaviken because he doesn't want to hurt anyone. He pushes everyone away so that he will not hurt them.
Enter jaskier. Jaskier who whittles away at these walls over the years, decades, he spends at geralt's side. Constantly refusing to be pushed away and constantly refusing to get hurt.
This whittling is supposed to be the reason geralt and yennefer and ciri work. But netflix has made it like yennefer and ciri fixes him with thier presence.
This is not what these characters are for. This reduces them to tools whose purpose is to fix geralt.
And this in turn leaves jaskier purposeless. In the netflix adaptation geralt and yennefer could've met the day after blaviken and boned and that would've been that. Jaskier's character has been rendered completely obsolete. His impact on geralt has been entirely erased.
