You know Iāve been thinking about a fem!Baru fic idea recently, just for fun, and something that Iāve actually been considering is the realization that I had in Arc 7 that Rem is absolutely straight. I know that might sound a little silly, but like ā just the way she scorns Natsumi, and the way she acts around Priscilla in the bath, and even the very specific things she says she likes about Subaru in Arc 3, you know? And before this Iāve been just assuming that Rem would obsess over Subaru regardless of whether Subaruās a man or a woman, but ā no, actually, I donāt think thatās true.
And thatās actually REALLY interesting, because ā what on Earth would their relationship look like, then, if Subaru was female? I think sheād still mentally try to swap out āfollowing Ramā for āfollowing Subaruā so does that mean that sheād start seeing Subaru as a second sister? Would Ram start feeling threatened by that? Or would she see Subaru as something else, like a gal pal or something? What kind of relationship would Rem seek from a female Subaru?
Then thereās Subaru herself, because Subaru is obviously bisexual. Even in Mimigau this fucker has a whole monologue comparing Aldeheidās voice to a love song and declaring that she wants to listen to it forever and ever, girl!Baru would ABSOLUTELY be interested in women, and Iād go as far as to say that sheād continue to be interested in Emilia. So ā how would Rem react to that? Sheās not exactly the accepting type, if her reaction to Natsumi is anything to go off of (or her referring to Emilia as a half-demon in Arc 3, if I remember that right). Would her opinions change at all? Would she try to push Subaru towards someone else? Would she just keep her mouth shut?
Hell, even if Rem doesnāt like Subaru like that anymore, would SUBARU like REM? And if thatās the case ā would Rem try to accept those feelings due to her desire to be valued by someone else, even if itās not really how she sees her?
Thereās ā Thereās a lot of options here, actually.
