Lark forced a smile, pushing back the lingering worry that marred his psyche. The town was growing more dangerous by the day, and he knew it would only be a matter of time before The Turned came rampaging through the streets. There was little to keep them safe.

He’d found an ally in Milo, but all the same, he was unsure how long it would last. He’d already lost Darius to the slaughter.

“Thank you,” He gave a short nod to the canine. “Pecan should be here any minute to give us a report on the outside of town... I need you to be ready. We might have to move from here. Are you able to do that?”
