Found some more free audio editing software!
I've been working with Audacity since my college days because it's free, and have never found another sound editor I wanted to bother learning because so many of them not only cost money but some even want to charge recurring fees, probably have DRM, etc. But finally, I did learn about some other free ones that are out there, so I wanted to share! I haven't tried any of these, but hopefully they're also good. :) Independence

Update: I started using LMMS as well, it's great and free!
