Adminâs Note: When using Google Translate into the English language, I noticed that Mikotoâs pronouns are sometimes âher.â Hopefully this can be overlooked and is not confusing to people.
Please do not let that discourage you from reading, this story is amazing! And so well-written!
A collaborative fanfic written by me and my good friend, Alan. Due to being in Alabama over the weekend, I found myself late to my own deadline! >.< Anyways, hope you all enjoy. <3

Some Things Never Change
Red.
The color held so much pain for Reisi Munakata.
So much more than the pain that had just been inflicted on him.
Red.
The warm color dripped from the hand no longer clutched to his body. His vision faded in and out. This was it, and he knew it.
Reisi Munakata didn't mind death. It was a risk of being a King. He welcomed it. SCEPTER 4 would be fine without him. They were all intelligent, strong people.
He looked at his hand again. His ability to move it long gone.
That warm, bright red.
With his last strength, he stretched a smile.
Isn't it fitting, Suoh? The last thing I see
...makes me think of you.

2042
âHeâs in there, Dr. Munakata,â a nurse said, smiling. âIâll warn you though, heâs quite the character.â
âDonât worry,â Dr. Reisi Munakata said, smiling back. âIâm sure heâs nothing I canât handle.â
He walked up to the room, taking the clipboard by the door. âMikoto Suoh,â he said aloud. âMinor burns.â
âHello Mikoto,â Reisi said as he walked through the door. âHow are we doing today?â
Mikoto looked at the doctor with a raised eyebrow. âI donât know. Why donât you tell me, Doc? I mean since youâre the professional.â He told him as he continued to stare at Dr. Munakata. He wasnât sure how the doctor was going to respond but he really didnât care at this point. âSo Iâm sure that nurse told you about me.â
Reisi laughed. âShe did. She warned me you were quite the handful,â he teased. He looked over Mikoto. The man was in his mid-twenties, probably around the same age as Reisi himself. He had deep red hair and amber eyes. He wore no shirt and more-than-form-fitting black pants. It wasn't hard to see the burns on his abdomen. They showed pink against his tanned skin. Reisi stepped up to his bedside to take a closer look. âBased on your wardrobe, I'm going to guess these werenât from cooking,â Reisi said. âDo you mind telling me how you got them?â
Mikoto chuckled. âYeah, I was cooking eggs.â He said sarcastically with a roll of his eyes. âIâm sure they already asked me these questions when I walked in. But if you must know Iâm a street performer. Guess I got a little carried away with my job.â He said as he tried to sit up the best he could without hurting himself.
âI see,â Reisi said. âWell Mikoto, judging by the blisters here and the way you just winced when you sat up, these are second-degree burns. Thatâs good news though, because youâll heal just fine. There might be a faint scar, but if that happens and you want it removed, we can set up an appointment for that later,â he smiled. The doctor doubted Mikoto would opt for anything above what was absolutely necessary, but it was part of his job to offer.
Mikoto scowled at the doctor. âYeah I couldâve told ya that myself, Doc. Itâs good to know that I'll heal. Canât disappoint my adoring fans. I donât mind if itâs a faint scar as long as itâs not something hideous.â He smiled a bit as he then tried to settle himself back against the pillows without having to wince but that wasnât the case.
âIt shouldn't be hideous, so long as you take care of yourself,â Reisi looked down at the raised flesh, âLooks like you havenât cleaned this yet. Iâm surprised the nurse didnât help you already,â he added, murmuring. âIâm going to clean it for you now, okay? This might hurt a little, though. Some of the skin might come off."
âThat should be no problem. I can take care of myself.â He said as he winced. âI guess she didnât want to. Â I mean she did tell you that I was a handful." He added sighing. âAlright, Doc. I trust ya, though I suppose I have to.â
âYou make it sound like youâre at my mercy,â Reisi chuckled. He got up and washed his hands, returning to Mikoto with wipes and a tube of ointment. âI promise I don't bite,â he said as he carefully cleaned Mikotoâs wound.
âWell arenât I, Doc? I mean I am the one laying in the hospital bed.â He watched the doctor as he washed his hands and went to retrieve the wipes and ointment. âOh really? I can't promise I won't.â He laughed a bit, wincing as he felt the doctor clean his wound.
Reisi flushed slightly at the patientâs last comment. He had to admit, this âMikotoâ was quite the charmer. âI think the nurse was right about you,â he said, rolling his eyes. He threw away the wipe and opened up the tube of ointment. âI wouldn't bite if I were you, though,â he brushed the cold ointment across Mikotoâs skin. âWeâre required to restrain unruly patients.â Reisi smirked.
The nurse was right about me? Mikoto couldnât deny that his attitude always got the better of him and he liked to flirt with others. But this doctor was different and he wasnât sure why. He smirked. âAw but DocâŚâ He clenched his teeth together as he breathed. âIâm not unruly...and even if I was, are you sure you could handle me?â He asked.
Reisi was about to retort when his eyes met Mikotoâs and he froze.
You could do it, Munakata.
The Blue King can keep an eye on me personally.
24 hours a day, inside this cell.
If I become violent, you can restrain me by force.
Reisi blinked. Shaking his head. What was that? He thought. He wasnât used to his mind trailing into such fantasies at work. This Suoh character is really getting to me.
Reisi got up and retrieved a large bandage. He covered the dressed wound and taped the sides down. âWell Mikoto, seeing as Iâm done, I donât need to handle you at all,â his tone was teasing. He had to be professional now, though. âIf you want this to heal properly,â he continued. âYouâll need to clean it like this every time you change bandages. I have some samples of the antibiotic ointment I can give you, but youâll be needing more, so Iâll write you a prescription.â
Mikoto frowned a little. âToo bad that youâre done, Doc.â He said with a bit of laughter and then winced again. "ShitâŚâ He said as he went to look at his wound that was patched up and then looked at the doctor when he was told how to clean the bandages. âSure, whatever you say. Kinda wish I had someone who could help me clean them every dayâŚ.â He smirked hoping that the doctor took the hint.
Reisiâs cheeks flushed again. He took out a pen and wrote down Mikotoâs prescription. âIâm afraid I do have other patients to tend to, Mikoto,â he chuckled as he took out another, blank piece of paper and wrote on it too. âHowever, I might enjoy seeing your show one of these days, once you've recovered.â He smiled as he handed Mikoto the two slips of paper: the prescription and his phone number.
Mikoto gave a fake pout. âAw thatâs too badâŚâ He said as he laughed a bit. Watching the doctor write on a blank piece of paper after being handed the prescription, he blinked. âReally?â He asked, wondering if Dr. Munakata was serious. He then looked at the piece of paper with the doctorâs number on it. âWell now I feel special, or do you give your number to all your patients?â Mikoto smirked.
âNo,â Reisi said, âyouâre the first.â There was something about Mikoto Suoh. Reisi couldnât put his finger on it, but he felt drawn to him. âIâm not going to regret giving you that, am I?â He smirked.
âNo, you wonât regret giving me your number. Thanks for everything, Doc. I wonât hesitate to give you a call.â He said as he winced getting up from the bed. He pocketed the prescription and then took out his cell phone and smiled as he looked at Dr. Munakata. He put the doctor's number in his phone, labeling it as âReisi personal number.â
Reisi smiled as he watched Mikoto walk away. Cocky and confident as ever. I guess some things never change.

star-crossed lovers - A phrase from the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare; Romeo and Juliet are so described in the prologue to the play. Note: âStar-crossed loversâ refers to any lovers whose affection for each other is doomed to end in tragedy.
1.) âI taste you on my lips and I canât get rid of you,
So I say damn your kiss and the awful things you do,â
2.) âYou will be the death of me.â
3.) âIâve got people to see,
And places that I need to burn down,
And people that I need to burn out of my head.
And I know a kiss on the cheek,
Will not take care of everything,
But youâd better give it to me anyways, dear.â
4.) âA guy like you should wear a warning.â
5.) âAnd I just need enough of you to dull the pain,
Just to get me through the night âtil weâre twins again,
âTill weâre stripped down to our skeletons again,
âTill weâre saints just swimming in our sins again.â
6.) âI want your love, I want your disease,
I want you open-mouthed and on your knees,â
7.) âWeâre gonna die, itâs just a matter of time,
hard times come, good times go,
Iâm either gone in an instant, or here âtil the bitter end,â
8.) âWell I never really thought that youâd come tonight,
While the crown hangs heavy on either side,
Give me one last kiss while weâre far too young to die,
Weâre far too young to die.â
