oooo i've been rolling them around in my mind a bit ! mikee is certainly an interesting pair~

as per usual, many a spoiler is to be found. proceed at your own risk ! and also general warning for this being incredibly rambly and

emci and mikey... i see them as having a relationship born out of grief and resentment, maybe. fueled by bitterness. they might have the kind of relationship that, say, victor has with his creature, but with the caveat* that emci is only one maker out of the original three. echoes of himself are present in mikey in tandem with the echoes of slushie and kitty. mikey would be a willing participant but emci would essentially be using mikey as a vessel to be closer to those he lost, to the memories of them hes trying to piece back together. mikey might not be too big of a fan of that treatment, being seen not for himself** and instead as only a stand in. and by might not i mean absolutely not.

*and the caveat that trio8 aren't mikey’s original creators i don’t think. they just breathed new life into him

**i say "himself" here when i really mean the version of himself that he wants us to see. this reminds me of his lyrics in the reality_is_beyond.pdf: "but now i am real to the eyes that see me". no eyes can see the true mikey with how he presents himself now, so how "real" can he even become?

before i get into the more current stuff, i want to highlight the more foundational (onesided) parts of them. the whole... drawing him into existence part, hands cramping because “mikey requires it”, a level of adoration and devotion to his craft that began in childhood. maybe even was one of the driving motivations of ee to get into the habit of overworking his hands. early signs of emci sacrificing himself for the things he cares about

with that, we can go back to the 'would absolutely not be a fan of that treatment.' it's basically stated in canon as such through inputting "baby" into mikey's dressup, and even before that when mikey references the emci's old petname:

this is a crazy thing to say btw. the power dynamic is interesting. mikey is, like ive mentioned before, a very powerful character. completely in control over his domain, cocky and self-assured...he needs to be taken down a peg, and who better to do that then the very person who gave him this domain to begin with?
