Five O'Clock
TITLE: Five O'Clock CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: One Shot AUTHOR: mikaa2411.tumblr.com ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine you and valkyre have a drink night. You as a Midgardian donât want to admit that you are not asgardian and can not handle so much alcohol, so you drink A LOT!! RATING: T NOTES/WARNINGS: N/A _______ âIâm impressed!â Valkyrie exclaims after you take off your jacket and down the second bottle, 'Not nearly as much as Iâve had so far, but the night is still young!'Â
'Oh gee, thanksâ you wipe your mouth with the sleeve of your shirt and set the bottle down. You definitely have a high capacity for alcohol, and made the mistake of bragging about it to Tony Stark, when Valkyrie overheard you. She was only glad to have a drinking buddy other than Thor, and you really thought you could take it⌠turns out Asgardians drink a smidge more.Â
Just a smidge.Â

Hi! I have 2 questions: 1) My character is in therapy, and I find that when I write about how his past connects to his present state of mind, it reads more like a psych textbook and less like a novel; for some reason, I cant shake from the "x leads to y, which leads to z". Any advice? 2) I find that I'm controlling the flow too much, like I don't trust my reader to recollect information or make connections themselves, and I do it FOR them- any idea how I can break away from that? thanks!
Read novels with characters in therapy, or that deal with mental health and actually study them. Look at the way that connections are drawn, and think about how you can apply them to your novel.Â
Have you had any readers run eyes over your book? Maybe it would help if you had a trusted reader/writer friend take a look, and ask them if youâre spoon-feeding them a bit too much information. If they say yes, then that could be the kick in the butt and validation you need that readers donât need you to piece the puzzle together for them.Â
You already know that you want to improve in these areas, so catch yourself when you find yourself doing these things while writing, and keep your eyes peeled for them when you do edits.Â
You probably wonât be able to break these writing habits overnight, but with extra awareness and practice, youâll definitely become a stronger writer!
Good luck!!Â
