Mighty Quinnâs Celebrates Fourth of July with new July Specials
Mighty Quinnâs, the award-winning barbeque joint born from New York city, celebrates fourth of July the only way it knows how - with a barbecue and beer party to launch its new Mighty Quinnâs July Specials. Get ready to sample three new items on the menu which will only be available until the end of this month.Â
The original Pitmaster and founder of Mighty Quinnâs, Hugh Mangum, made his way back to Manila last July 4, 2018 to launch these new July specials and to serve their signature slow-smoked perfection to all the guests. The venue for the party was at Mighty Quinnâs second branch in Metro Manila at the R2 Level of Powerplant Mall in Rockwell. Hugh made sure that everyone got to celebrate the American Independence Day with overflowing craft beers and sensational barbecues until the end of the night.
Mighty Quinnâs barbecues are made the old school way, with nothing but wood and time. From its humble roots as a stall in Smorgasburg, Brooklynâs largest outdoor food market, to its international expansion in Dubai, Taiwan, and Manila, Mighty Quinnâs has consistently served up some of the best slow-smoked barbeque in the world.Â
The approach of Mighty Quinnâs to meat is simple â itâs all about sourcing the best quality ingredients and cooking it the traditional way, adding just the right amount of salt and spice to let that lovely marriage of process and product evolve into something transcendent. After its successful first outlet in SM Megamall, Mighty Quinnâs then opened its second branch in Rockwell, Makati and continues to stand as the only authentic New York-style slow-smoked barbeque in the Philippines.
We know how Americans love to celebrate the fourth of July with backyard barbecue parties, so Mighty Quinnâs brought the same festive atmosphere that evening with unlimited beers and barbecues for all of its friends.
Joeâs Brew is a local craft beer from Manila boasting of strong and flavorful brews. The Sierra Madre Wheat Ale has a good and light taste with a soft and floral flavor. They also have the Fish Rider Pale Ale with its citrus aroma and a hint of grapefruit. Then there is the 34th Pursuit IPA which is a supercharged version of the Pale Ala with a higher bitterness and alcohol content.
The party started with some appetizers including Tater Tots and Dirty Fries (P165) which are potato fries topped with barbecued burnt ends.
Mighty Quinnâs founder Hugh Mangum has gained an understanding of the Filipino palate and has created a roster of dishes that heâs made exclusively for the Philippines, taking All-American slow-smoking techniques and making it new with an Asian Twist.
But before we tried his new dishes, he first served some of his signature smoked beef brisket which are just so tender and flavorful. You can taste and smell the smokiness from the wood and those burnt ends are actually the best part of the meat.
The July Special will be available for a limited time only from July 6 to July 31 at both branches of Mighty Quinnâs. These are new items that have been given an Asian twist with flavors that are very familiar to Filipinos.
Letâs start with the gigantic Beast Burger, a callback to the Johnny Cash sandwich in Mighty Quinnâs New York, where a customer requested two meats between buns. Hugh made this a meat loverâs burger which boasts two kinds of premium slow smoked barbeque with four times more meat than their regular burgers. It comes topped with their signature slaw and is sandwiched between two toasted brioche buns. It is also served with a side of crispy sweet potato chips.
Another limited edition item is the Spare Ribs Unagi. Hugh saw some unagi sauce in the kitchen and it got him thinking, âunagi sauce + slow-smoked ribs = umami bomb.â This slow-smoked St. Louis cut spareribs are blessed with more umami flavor by way of a sweet yet savoury caramelized unagi sauce glaze. It is served with complimentary pickles, slaw, and a choice of garlic or dirty rice.
Lastly, the Manila Creamsicle Milkshake is a classic American milkshake with a Filipino twist. Inspired by the freshness that calamansi gives so many of our dishes, Hugh made a creamsicle milkshake made with tangy calamansi and topped with whipped cream and a crunchy biscoff cookie. The sweet and sour notes of the milkshake are definitely unique and is unlike any other milkshake I have ever tried.
Make your way to Mighty Quinnâs this month and indulge in the Mighty Quinnâs July Specials. This is also a great way to introduce their signature slow-smoked barbecues to those who have not tried it before. Iâm sure everyone will have a meaty and enjoyable time.
