I wasn't so sure about watching Daredevil, but after seeing your posts here I was intrigued and decided to give it a try. I convinced my husband to watch with me (he was even more skeptical and mumbling all the way about 'that awful Daredevil movie'). Now we can hardly wait for the next season! Thank you for the rec and for your amazing blog!
If I donāt talk about my Daredevil feelings at length at least every other day, Iām probably going to explode or something, so, here, youāre going to get a really ridiculous response, sorry not sorry.I had no real interest in Daredevil before it came out, Iād never bothered much with the comics, Iād never seen the terrible movie version, I only had a very vague idea of who Matt was and a little bit with Elektra. Ā I only watched the TV series because it was part of the MCU and it seemed to get a lot of rave reviews and I expected to have absolutely zero feelings about it.And, yeah, okay, it went kind of slow for me at first. Ā There were some pretty breathtaking moments (the end of the second episode, the hallway fight, holy hell, that was incredible--the way it was shot, the intensity of it, the way Iām exhausted just lookingĀ at Matt), but overall it admittedly took me awhile to come to care about it.Maybe those lowered expectations helped, I donāt know. Ā But I will absolutely defend this series as being great in a lot of ways that are important to me, especially in the way the main hero is portrayed, the anger and the guilt and the needĀ he has for other people in his life, that Matt Murdock is hardcore and badass and yet he totally ugly cries in the series because heās hurting his friend and doesnāt know how to fix it. Ā And none of that is jarring, it all fits together with his character and makes me love him so intensely that I donāt really know how to string the words together to convey it.It might seem like kind of a ridiculous show at first. Ā It might seem a little... idk, maybe tryhard or something at first. Ā But I will always defend that thereās something really, genuinely good there, that I love the main trio (god, I love that Karen has her own story going on, that sheās so furiously determined and full of anger and tries to find an outlet for it, that Foggy isnāt like either Matt or Karen, that heās the one character thatās pure good, even as heās not a saint, and heās like the one character whoās got his head screwed on straight and thatās so incredibly necessaryĀ with people like Karen and Matt) and I find the villains engaging, especially when comparing/contrasting them against the Good Trio.Iām so glad you wound up enjoying the show and I canāt wait for season two, either! Ā Or the other MCU shows, Iām super interested in Jessica and Luke and Danny and The Defenders and if this is what street level MCU looks like, IāM GONNA BE IN THIS FANDOM FOR LIFE.
